As for the "V" in the painting, if Brown is correct, then it's not the be-all and end-all clue, it's just one of many different little tricks that Da Vinci supposedly painted.
I also remember from my art history classes that a lot of paintings at the time try to incorporate triangles and multiples of three in them, possibly because of the religious reference to the Holy Trinity. If I'm not mistaken, the 12 apostles are separated into 4 groups of 3, and the negative space between Jesus and Mary Magdalene (as well as the apostle on the other side of him) could be making triangles... |
