Da Vinci Code Reviews Not Good

One of 2006's most anticipated films, The Da Vinci Code, received lukewarm and indifferent reviews when it played for critics at the Cannes Film Festival last night.

The film, based on Dan Brown's best selling book, often received laughs and jeers during the two and half hour screening. Critics blasted Hank's performance ("zombie"), the script ("the dialogue was cheesy"), the run time ("I kept thinking of the Energizer Bunny, because it kept going and going and going, and not in a good way") and the film itself ("a stodgy, grim thing", "Nothing really works").

Many people were seen walking out before the film was over, and in one particular scene, a melodramatic line uttered by Tom Hanks drew "prolonged laughter and catcalls."

I was thinking of seeing the film this weekend but now I am having second thoughts. Almost every review I have read so far has been negative. How could they have screwed this movie up so badly from a book that was that popular?

I can't believe it.. I know I've been very pro on this book and film but c'mon, it's Hanks and Ron Howard. Can it really be bad? I dunno.. I think I might still go see it 1st day out anyway.

The picture shows up as a red X for me.

Park the old car that I love the best
Inspections due and it won't pass the test
Funny how I have to put it to rest
And someday I will join it.

Just taking a second here, the book is awesome, no doubt, but it's only awesome from the storyline perspective. The characters are all subsidurey to the plot. Seeing as about every man and his dog now know the plot the only things to carry the film are characters, oh dear!

I had a sig, once.

I was afraid this would happen, taking such a great book and ruining the movie. In a way I am glad I won't have the money this weekend to see it afterall(I just bought New Super Mario Bros, as well as bought a phone card and paid my broadband bill). I hope someone will pay for my ticket though so I could see it.
