| Soccer: Roberts Claims Move To Blackburn - 'Dream Move' SkySports ![]() Jason Roberts has claimed that joining Blackburn is a 'dream move'. The striker became the second striker to sign for Rovers on Monday, following Francis Jeffers' move earlier in the day, when inking a four-year deal. The 28-year-old has made the short hop across Lancashire from Wigan and is looking forward to testing himself in Europe in the new campaign. "One of my goals as a footballer was to play in Europe regularly, so to play Uefa Cup football this year will be a big thing for me," Roberts told Rovers' official website. "But I've got to work hard and try to get myself in the team." Roberts had been linked with Charlton and Besiktas, but it would appear that he always had his heart set on a switch to Ewood Park. "I've known about the interest for a while," he said. "I always thought it was a dream move for me and I'm just really happy it has come through. "The stature of the club, Uefa Cup football, coming sixth in the league last season, the manager, the players - I've played against Rovers twice last year and they were fantastic - they are all reasons why I have signed. "First and foremost, I want to help the team and be part of a successful team because that is the most important thing. "If I can get my fair share of goals as well then that will be a big consideration." ------------- Roberts is a very strong attacker, and he should his talent whilst placing Wigan in the top half of the Premiership. It's unfortunate for Wigan, but very beneficial for Blackburn, who did very well under Mark Hughes last year. Roberts will probably play well with Mortan Gamp Pedersen. | |||||||||||||||
