At Judgment Day, two champions collide for the biggest prize on SmackDown when Rey Mysterio defends the World Heavyweight Championship against the current United States Champion, JBL.
On the April 21 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, JBL challenged the winner of the following week’s World Heavyweight Championship match between Mysterio and Kurt Angle. After badmouthing both men, however, he was on the receiving end of a 619.
The following week, Mysterio somehow survived his championship match with Angle, as Mark Henry inexplicably interrupted the match as Rey was a half-second away from tapping out to the Ankle Lock. With Mysterio still the champion following Friday Night SmackDown, the official announcement of the match for Judgment Day was made on WWE.com on April 29.
