Is wrestling as good as it used to be?

Some say that the Attitude era where the same 4 guys main evented every pay per view was better than today's product. Others insist that the classic WWF, with dumb storylines and boring matches was better. Some go further back to the NWA of the 80s and earlier, when everybody on the roster was athletic and everybody believed that it was real. I'd say today's wrestling is better than any era in WWE's history. They are no dumb storylines like the 80s. There is a main event division in WWE that contains about 20 guys. Below that is a midcard of 40 and an undercard of 20. Some people claim that the Kurt Angle-Sharmell storyline was out of his character, but they forget that Kurt Angle has swapped between wrestler, gay guy and pervert his whole career, so it is perfect. Some people say that pay per view matches repeat too much. The only reason JBL's opponents repeated for a while was that they were saving Big Show, Angle and Cena. JBL's title reign lasted way too long and everybody but a moron knows that it is traditional in wrestling for the champion to get a rematch, so it is perfectly reasonable. While WWE blows away the Classic WWF and WWF Attitude, they are not better than the NWA of the 80s. You could go to an NWA house show and expect to see a 1 hour long title defense by Ric Flair or whoever the champ was. And to be an NWA champ, you had to be a great wrestler and a great interview, meaning that the title defenses would likely be great matches. I'd say the NWA's product was better, though now is the first time in the WWE's history that they have approached the quality of the NWA.

There is one problem with wrestling today, that being the strict restrictions on high risk moves. Obviously it limits injuries and makes a high risk move better if and when it happens but it isn't good how wrestlers have had to tone down their movesets. Other than people whining that the newer stars aren't as good because they are less established I don't see anything wrong with the WWE product right now considering the amount of competition they have.
