Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) - Preview & Discussion
I liked the song at the start, when the shop keeper starting sing '....because the Candy Man Can', I think the only song I really hated was the solo after Charlies mum was doing the washing or whatever, Charlie left and she started singing to herself. It's still a fantastic film though, I just happen to prefer the newer version.

I've never been a fan of anything Tim Burton has done after Big Fish. Or Mars Attacks! It's gotten sad. He wants to put a new edgy dark twist on all of the classics and it just doesn't work. I hated Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Did'nt like his Sweeney spin-off. It isn't going to work for this either.

That's because Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory owned Burton's remake. I personally liked Sweeney Todd. Anything with Depp and Burton together usually turns to gold and I think this will be no different.

I don't much care for Tim Burton's style, but I did like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory for a watch once kind of entertainment. As far as Sweeny Todd it was ok but could have been better without Burton at the helm.

This. Will. Be. Stunning.
I don't care who's in it. Burton directing Alice In Wonderland is all I need to know. His visuals working with that story are the perfect match. Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway and Crispin Glover are all just a bonus for me. It'll be a feast for the eyes I gaurantee it.

I'm just looking at the pictures so far on IMDB, and the settings for the film are beautiful, it's so Tim Burton. I've been waiting for this film for ages, and just looking at it so far, and with the stellar cast they have, I don't think it can fail. You can argue it'll mess with the original, however, with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Burton was closer to the book then the original. I've read a ton of Roald Dahl books and his books where dark, similar to Burtons style, and that's why Charlie was better imo, anyways, back onto it, this film is going to be epic~!

Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) - Preview & Discussion
I saw the trailer for this earlier today and I can't say I'm looking forward to it. I love Burton and Depp, but the trailer made the film look pretty damned awful. The CGI looked atrocious and really didn't blend well with what I saw.
It'll be worth a rent I'm sure. I'm sure it will be dark, and I'm sure Depp will be fantastic as the Mad Hatter, but aside from those two factors I'm not sure if I'll enjoy this. And that's coming from a huge fan of the original, I still proudly display my Alice in Wonderland DVD on the shelf. So many blatant drug references.
