I meant the stupid-ass love story focus with a climatic death that just so happens to occur right in front of a sunrise. No the story doesn't match up, but it's the biggest chick flick I can think of in the comic book movie franchise.
As if it is a surprise, given that both Spider-Man 2 and 3 were released in IMAX, Sony and the giant screen company have announced that the fourth film, coming out May 4, 2011, will open simultaneously in IMAX (via Coming Soon). Again, duh. Virtually every potential blockbuster gets an IMAX release these days, and the Spider-Man franchise is probably one of IMAX's biggest sellers ever.
All I have to say about this news comes as a cautionary tale. When Spider-Man 3 came out I bought tons of candy and went with my friends on opening weekend, only to be stuck in the front row in the IMAX theater. Do not ever sit in the front row of an IMAX theater. You will not be able to read the credits, and then close-ups will seem terrifying, and the action will be incomprehensible. Not that I necessarily recommend seeing Spider-Man 4 anyway-- we'll have to see if it can actually recover from the third one-- but if you must, pick a reasonable spot. That is all.
Not surprising, good news though.

Spider-Man 4 to Start Filming March 2010
Source:MTV
October 9, 2009
Quote:
MTV talked to director Sam Raimi, who says he's hoping to start shooting Spider-Man 4 the first week of March 2010 for a May 5, 2011 release.
Raimi added that Gary Ross is doing a rewrite of the script using notes Raimi gave him, a production designer has started designing the sets and environments, and Scott Stokdyk is back on board on his fourth Spidey film as visual effects supervisor.
Raimi said that no casting has taken place--other than Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst--but that they are starting to think about that now.
Great news!

The Lizard To Be Spider-Man 4's One And Only Villain?
Quote:
It looks like the Spider-Man team took a hint. According to MarketSaw, Spider-Man 4 will shed the Spider-Man 3 multi-villain disaster and stick to just one villain, and that baddie will be – drum roll please – The Lizard!
Last week we told you that Dylan Baker confirmed his involvement in the fourth film. He has appeared in all three films as Peter Parker’s college professor Dr. Curt Connors who, in the comics, eventually becomes the supervillain The Lizard. Connors was only a minor player in the second and third films, but if these reports are accurate, he could be front and center in the fourth.
While MarketSaw dubs their source “strong,” it’s hard to let go and get super hyped about the news. If the Lizard is indeed the villain, it would certainly allow director Sam Raimi to take the franchise in a better direction. Earlier this month, Raimi was quoted as saying, “What we're trying to do right now is really understand the journey Peter is going to go on this time and have the villain maybe be a counter to that growth, something that he has to overcome.” With Dr. Connors’ relationship with Peter already established he’d be in an optimal position to have an intense effect on Spider-Man while honoring reasonable limitations. If Raimi hopes “to get back to the basics” with Spider-Man 4, The Lizard might be the way to do it.
Really looking forward to this. The Lizard kicks ass.

Wasn't a big fan of him at all. I don't know how he'll work out as the main villain but my guess will be badly. I'm predicting a big side story involving Peter and Mary Jane I guess. 'But I doubt this movie will do anything for me.
