Superhero Hype! has learned that the teaser poster for Spider-Man 4 that is on display this week at the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas is actually fake and does not come from either Sony Pictures or Marvel Studios.
If any Marvel series needs a reboot it's this one. Raimi is a fucking terrible director for this project and he's so far mad one average movie, one good movie and one God awful movie. If they decided to restart and recast, I'd be happy.
I was one of the rare ones that liked all 3. Granted the third had a lot of flaws but I still enjoyed it.
That said, if they do more of these and had to recast I wouldn't care. They can write MJ out really easily since Spidey has had a few different women he's "dated" in the comics.
Dunst "Definitely On Board" Spider-Man 4
Source: New York Post, Edward Douglas
June 6, 2009
Everyone's getting in on the action trying to guess what to expect from Sam Raimi's return to the Marvel superhero franchise with Spider-Man 4, slated for release on May 6, 2011. It's obviously still very early in development, but that didn't stop the New York Post from asking Sony producer Todd Black a few questions in order to clear up some of the rumors that have been circulating.
In the article, Black confirms that Kirsten Dunst is definitely on board, but that there are no plans to have a wedding between Peter Parker and Mary Jane in the forthcoming movie. He also squashed the rumors that Morbius the Living Vampire will be the villain in the movie, but that the villain will be very New York centric.
This is what he told the Post about the potential villain: "We're just coming up with who the villain's going to be now. We'll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York."
So who do you think the villain may be? In the article, they speculate it could be either Kraven the Hunter or the Kingpin, although one should probably assume the latter is still owned by Fox as part of the "Daredevil" deal. Still, maybe it will be some sort of New York City mob/crime storyline in the next movie, and there are plenty of Spider-Man villains that fit the bill like Hammerhead and The Enforcers. Discuss it below.
Can't say I'm thrilled about Dunst being back, but oh well.
Who do you thinkt he villian will be? Maybe multiple.
I would like to see them bring Venom back. It could be done. Past that I think any villain they use will not live up to anyone's standards as a villain. I'm pretty much open for any villain though.
I don't think you can make a Spider Man film without MJ. Even when her and Peter aren't together, they're still connected constantly. I like Dunst and I'm fine with her returning, as long as the rest of the main cast returns.
As for bad guys. At this point I don't care. With Raimi directing again I doubt the film will be any good. Preferably keep Kingpin out of it, as he's a top bad guy and doesn't need to be spoiled by the Spider Man franchise.
As long as Kristen Dunst is in the 4th one I'll be satisfied.
They ruined Venom, why would they do any better with Carnage? I really don't care who the bad guy is this time around. Spider-Man really has gone downhill for me, especially in the case of villains.
