The guys from the Punch Drunk Critics blog were at Horrorfind Weekend in Hunt Valley, Maryland this weekend, and they got a few minutes with actor Danny Trejo to try their best to get any new information out of him in regards to his next movie Machete. For whatever reason, they asked him about Sin City 2 and basically got a stock answer before Trejo revealed that "we're doing Predators next," which makes one assume Trejo will be appearing in Robert Rodriguz's Predators, the Rodriguez-produced relaunch to be directed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy).
Of course, this is not anything too groundbreaking since Trejo has appeared in just about every movie Rodriguez has been involved with going back to El Mariachi, but it does confirm that they're moving forward with the casting on the movie and possibly already have Trejo's ubiquitous role sussed out.
You can watch their video interview below and decide for yourself:

Predators Plot Details Revealed
Source:Latino Review
September 28, 2009
Quote:
"Cuchillo." That's the name of Danny Trejo's character in Predators, the sequel Robert Rodriguez is producing with Nimrod Antal in the director's chair. This lil' nugget of info and more can be gleaned from Latino Review's video script review they posted today.
They've got the drop on all sorts of plot details which include the names of all of the bad-asses who are transported to the Predator home planet and thrust into its jungles.
It appears the eight people who comprise this varied troupe was kidnapped by the alien hunters. Armed to the teeth, they're forced to defend themselves from predator dogs, predator falcons, a "super" Predator (known as "Black Super Predator") and his buddies.
The review also says, if all goes well, there is still room for a cameo by Arnold Schwarzenegger
.
The film is being produced at Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios and will hit theaters next summer.
A little more info

I really like the fact that they're taking the humans out of their comfort zone. That's the main problems of the sequels (Predator 2 and AVP 2). How scary is it battling the Predator when he's on your turf? You have an endless supplies of means to fight against them. Sure, the Predator will kill several people, but you could always bring in more cops from nearby. What made the original so great was the isolation. The handful of soldiers were in the jungles on a rescue mission in another country. So once the Predator came, they were forced to become survivalists to try and live. What they had to fight with was it. That is so much scarier than being in your home town and being able to head to the hunting store to get more guns.
As far as the plot goes, as long as it isn't too spacey, it sounds good. The Predator may be an alien, but they're best when they minimize the sci-fi side of the characters besides the use of their weapons. The whole group of new Predators sounds as if the writers have been busy playing Resident Evil games.
Looking forward to the release though.

Exclusive: Walton Goggins Fighting Predators?
Quote:
Things have quietly been moving forward on Robert Rodriguez's Predators with Nimrod Antal directing. Although 20th Century Fox has already set a release date for July 7, 2010, there hasn't been much casting news except for the ubiquitous Danny Trejo as someone named "Cuchillo." That is, until now.
ComingSoon.net has heard word that one of Rodriguez's cast will be none other than Walton Goggins, star of the FX series "The Shield."
Unfortunately, we do not have any information yet on which role he might be playing, but we'll update the story as we receive confirmation. Either way, we can probably except there to be a lot more cast announced for the anticipated reboot in the coming weeks.
If you're a fan of "The Shield"--and seriously, who isn't?--let us know how you feel about Detective Shane Vendrell treading the L.A. drugdealers for a bunch of killer Predators.

UPDATE: Entire Predators Cast Revealed!
Source:Variety.com, The Hollywood Reporter
October 7, 2009
We told you it was coming and sure enough, Variety has announced the entire cast for Robert Rodriguez's Predators, which will be headlined by Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody (King Kong, The Pianist) as the mercenary Royce.
At the same time, The Hollywood Reporter's "Heat Vision Blog" is reporting that actor Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3, "That '70s Show") is in negotiations to join Brody as Edwin, an accountant who is in fact a dangerous serial killer.
The rest of the multinational cast includes the aforementioned Danny Trejo and Walton Goggins from "The Shield" as well as Alice Braga (I Am Legend), Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali ("The 4400"), and Louiz Ozawa. The Variety story doesn't reveal which character all of them might be playing but you can get some idea by checking out Latino Review's preview.
Directed by Nimrod Antal, the Hungarian filmmaker behind last year's Vacancy and the upcoming Screen Gems crime thriller Armored, the movie is about to start shooting on location in Hawaii and Rodriguez's Austin-based Troublemaker Studios.
UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter has posted more details on which characters they will play:
Written by Rodriguez, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, the script follows a group of elite warrior-types who are being hunted by members of a race of merciless alien trackers called Predators.
Brody is a man who ends up inheriting the mantle of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.
Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose canon of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent.
Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.
This sounds amazing.
