Re: 'Nightmare on Elm Street' reboot: Jackie Earle Haley to play Freddy Krueger
It was a horror, granted they got campy and comedic about halfway through the series but it was still a good series that doesn't need to be redone. I doubt it ever will though because it has been going on for years now about the remake, it was in discussions long before the Friday The 13th reboot. That had a good opening weekend and dropped off the charts, so I don't see them pushing the button to get this going anytime soon. And I even liked the Friday the 13th reboot.

I thought the original guy was going to play him?

Re: 'Nightmare on Elm Street' reboot: Jackie Earle Haley to play Freddy Krueger
Robert Englund was originally set up to play him but he backed out. I don't remember the reason he gave though. I think it was something along the lines of passing the torch to someone else and not being able at his age to give it his all.

If there’s anyone in the world calling Jackie Earle Haley a bad casting call as Freddy Krueger, I haven’t met them. That may be because they think it’s a great idea or because they saw Watchmen and have no interest in messing with the dude who chops up dogs.
Well, it turns out that we’re not just going to be treated to one Haley nightmare but three. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Jackie Earle Haley has signed on for two additional Nightmare on Elm Street movies, to be made after the one they’re currently finishing production on.
No one said that making these movies was a good idea, but at least they’re trying to get the casting right. I’ve put myself in the state of mind that every movie is going to be remade before I die. You should probably get there too. May as well enjoy the ride, and with Jackie Earle Haley on board for three Elm Street horrors, there’s going to be a lot of ride to survive.

Perfect recasting for this. If anyone hasn't seen Haley's acting in Little Children that alone will convince you he'll be perfect for the role. Can't wait for these.

Re: Jackie Earle Haley Will Haunt You Three Times As Freddy
I'm like Ahhh, I can't imagine anyone besides Englund playing the Freddy character. I'm still however very interested in someone else giving it a go and donning the glove. And I must say with three new Nightmare's lined up, they couldn't have went with a better replacement to rebuild the franchise.
Re: Jackie Earle Haley Will Haunt You Three Times As Freddy
Haley did an amazing job as Rorshach in Watchmen. It should be interesting to see if he can fill Englund's shoes as freddy. But those are some damn big shows to fill.
Re: Jackie Earle Haley Will Haunt You Three Times As Freddy
I was really praying for Crispin Glover to haunt the dreams as Freddy, but Haley has emerged pretty well as a creepy character, with a fantastic performance in Little Children and in Watchmen.
