Representing Team Canada is "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler who this weekend goes head to head with Team Diabeetus member Jake Shields as they battle it out in the proclaimed super fight. On an amazing 11 fight win streak, Strikeforce Welterweight champion Shields has torn through the competition in the Welterweight division and plans on successfully stepping into the world of the Middleweight fighters. Strikeforce Middleweight champion Lawler, however will certainly have something to say about whether it will be a successful step up or not. On an impressive 6 fight unbeaten run himself, he plans on sending Shields straight back down the Welterweight division with a thud.
Fighting for league leaders Team Respect is “The California Kid” Urijah Faber, who will be locked in a WEC Featherweight title fight with current champion, Team Awesomesauce member Mike Brown. Faber, who first won the WEC Featherweight title back in March of 2006, held the belt for well over 2 years and defended it no less than 5 times before eventually losing it in shocking fashion at the hands of now champions Brown back in November of last year. Faber is hoping to earn back what he feels is still his belt and prove that Brown simply got lucky in championship fight that ended very quickly. Whereas Brown will obviously be fighting to prove that there was no luck involved.
Also in action, is Team Total member, UFC veteran Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski, who aims to knock young gun Brett Rogers down a peg in their Heavyweight bout. Coming off a devastating knockout at the hands of Fedor Emilianenko, Arlovski has to deal with 9-0 Rogers who is evidently yet to taste defeat.
Attempting to earn points for Team Epic is Rafael “Feijao” Cavlacante, who is going up againat UFC and WEC veteran Mike “MAK” Kyle. Feijao, who has only once tasted defeat in his mixed martial arts career is by a distance the favourite to defeat Kyle who quite frankly is no stranger to defeat, losing 6 times.
Fighting to lift Gunners Fight Club, Jose Aldo is looking to knock off Cub Swanson in their 145 pound fight. Aldo has been on an impressive run as of late in WEC, where in his debut with the organization he defeated well renowned fighter Alexandre Franca Nogueira and has won on 3 more occasions since. Now he is looking to make Swanson win number 5 in the WEC.
Finally, fighting to earn Team Gladiator their first points, Wilson Reis looks to bounce back from his upset loss to Joe Soto in Bellator's featherweight tournament semi final at Bellator VI. He aims to do so when he meets Roberto Vargas and previously undefeated, Reis will want to show that it was nothing more than a hickup.
