ECW on Sci-Fi preview: October 28th 2008 (Source: To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. ) GM LONG ANNOUNCES BEAT THE CLOCK CHALLENGE
Due to Matt Hardy successfully defending the ECW Championship against Mark Henry, ECW on Sci-Fi is without a number one contender to it's world championship. General manager, Theodore R. Long has addressed this issue by announcing a beat the clock challenge to take place between eight of ECW's brightest starts this week on Sci-Fi.
The winner of the challenge will not only earn bragging rights amongst their fellow competitors, but will also earn a shot at the ECW Championship on November 23rd at Survivor Series.

Extreme Championship Wrestling on Sci-Fi
OCTOBER 28TH 2008
A video package airs showing highlights of the Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry encounter over the ECW Championship from Cyber Sunday 2008. We here clips of commentary from the match and finish with a shot of Matt Hardy holding the ECW Championship high in the air as Todd Grisham states “A fighting champion, a true champion” – We fade to black before going into the ECW introduction video.
The video finishes and we cut live to the arena, Matt Striker welcomes us and introduces Todd Grisham before sending it over to General Manager, Theodore R. Long who is standing by in the ring; microphone in hand. Long mentions that tonight marks the return of the Beat the Clock challenge and that by the end of the evening, ECW will have a new number one contender to Matt Hardy. The music of Mark Henry interrupts and he comes from behind the curtain, as always; Tony Atlas is following closely behind.
Henry makes his way down to the ring and enters, taking a microphone from an attendant at ringside. He states that last night, he was robbed of winning the ECW Championship from all the WWE fans. He goes on to say that he is not a hardcore wrestler and that he didn’t deserve to have his re-match in such extreme circumstances. Henry then asks Teddy Long when he’ll get his re-match with Matt Hardy. Long says that Henry has had his fair share of free title shots and that it is time he earned one, and that because he is so against “extreme circumstances” he has the perfect opponent for his Beat the Clock match here tonight. Long announces that we are going to start the Beat the Clock tournament with Mark Henry going up against ECW original, Tommy Dreamer; that match is next.

Beat the Clock challenge
Mark Henry vs. Tommy Dreamer
Henry takes control in the early going as expected, hitting Dreamer with a series of power moves; a particularly nasty spot was Henry connecting with a clothesline that almost turned Dreamer inside out. Henry drapes Dreamer in the corner of the ring and steps back, he taunts the crowd (who don’t seem happy with that) and runs at the hardcore messiah, only to be side stepped sending him into the turnbuckle pads sternum first. Dreamer begins his assault with a series of clubbing blows to the back of the world’s strongest man, but nothing seems to be having any sort of effect. Dreamer continues nonetheless but Henry is able to turn himself around and connect with a vicious right hand, sending Dreamer stumbling.
Henry connects with another right and it looks as though Dreamer is about to fall, but he uses the ropes to keep himself up. Henry doesn’t look happy and connects with a vicious boot to the gut, he then goes to lift Dreamer into the air but again; the ropes are Dreamers saving grace. Matt Striker notes that “Dreamer knows he is going to be hit with something, but the more he prolongs it; the more he hinders Henry’s chances of winning this challenge.” – Henry, sick of playing tug of war with the ring ropes connects with a headbutt to the back of dreamers head before pulling him backwards and going straight into the World’s Strongest Slam. Henry makes the cover and this one, is emphatically over.
Winner at 5:22 by World’s Strongest Slam: Mark Henry
The crowd begin a frenzy of boos as Tony Atlas enters the ring, the referee goes to raise Henry’s hand in the air but the strong man doesn’t allow it. Atlas approaches and does the honours, raising Henry’s arm into the air in victory as Dreamer rolls from the ring.
We cut backstage to the office of Theodore Long who is joined by John Morrison and The Miz, Morrison asks Long who their opponents are in the Beat the Clock challenge here tonight on ECW; but Long isn’t giving anything away. Miz cuts in and says that no matter who their opponents are, it is a foregone conclusion that either John Morrison or The Miz will be the next number one contender to the ECW World Championship. The two walk away leaving Teddy looking on; “Is that right” he utters as we go to our second commercial break.

Beat the Clock challenge
Chavo Guerrero vs. Evan Bourne
Lock up in the centre of the right to start things off here tonight; Bourne takes the advantage with a picture perfect arm drag sending Chavo flying across the ring. Chavo is right back up to his feet and looks surprised with Bourne’s tactics; the two lock straight back up. This time it’s Chavo who manages to gain the advantage, sending Bourne over with a hip toss. We can hear Chavo shouting “That’s how it’s done” as this match presses on. A third lock-up, but this time neither man gains the advantage as the lock is soon broken and a brawl begins. The seemingly stronger Guerrero gains the momentum and sends Bourne off the ropes, Guerrero pauses before bending forwards looking to backdrop the young superstar but Bourne sees it coming and connects with a sick sounding kick to the chest of Guerrero, who goes stumbling back and hastily out of the ring; looking on at a now smiling Bourne standing tall.
The referee begins his ten count but it’s of no use, Guerrero gets back into the ring and the sportsman Bourne allows it to happen smoothly. Bourne then approaches, looking to lock up once again but Chavo isn’t having any of it and connects with a rake of the eyes; causing Bourne to temporarily lose his sense of awareness. Guerrero then goes on the attack with a series of rights and lefts, followed by a well placed snap suplex causing Evan Bourne to grab at his back a look of agony upon his face. Guerrero presses his opponent for a cover but Bourne gets his shoulder up before the count of two. Guerrero, now on his feet hits Bourne with a series of stomps, each harder than the last and lifts him up to his feet. He connects with a kick to the gut and puts him in position for what looks to be a powerbomb set-up; Chavo hoists Bourne up into the air and over his shoulder; Grisham notes he could be looking for the Gory Bomb but it’s too late; Bourne has found way down to his feet and rolls Chavo up for a very quick two count. Chavo was almost caught there.
Both men up to their feet, Bourne runs and hits a lightning quick snapping Hurricanrana; Chavo is down – straight back up to his feet and runs into a kick to the gut from Bourne, Bourne off the ropes; Tornado DDT planting the Mexican warrior in the centre of the ring. Bourne approaches the turnbuckles much to the delight of the crowd and ascends to the top; Chavo is still down in the centre of the right. Just eight seconds left before the match goes past Henry’s set time. Bourne leaps off the ropes with a beautiful shooting star press but Chavo has had enough time, he rolls out of the way and Bourne hits the mat with a hard thud. Chavo runs, leaps and rolls Bourne up with a beautiful combination but the time has passed, Henry is still in the lead; the referee counts nonetheless. 1…2…3
Winner at 5:28 by roll-up: Chavo Guerrero
Chavo Guerrero has a bittersweet celebration in the ring as we cut to commercial once again.
Commercial Break
We’re back here on ECW and the camera is focused on Matt Striker and Todd Grisham. Striker notes that Mark Henry is still in the lead during the Beat the Clock challenge but acknowledges that there are still two more matches to come tonight. – Grisham continues by talking about Raw superstar John Cena’s recent surgery and leads into a video showcasing it and the superstar himself. The video finishes and we’re straight into our next match.

Beat the Clock challenge
John Morrison vs. The Miz
It seems the general manager, Theodore Long has brought down the hopeful expectations of these two men by placing them in a match against each other. The two look apprehensive, until the bell rings and the ECW Championship opportunity draws ever closer, right hands by The Miz; whips Morrison off the ropes and goes for a clothesline but the Shaman of Sexy is able to duck under. Morrison turns and Miz walks into a forearm shot followed by Morrison stepping back and connecting with a beautiful standing dropkick. Early cover by Morrison but to no avail, The Miz gets a shoulder up before two. Morrison goes to pull Miz up to his feet, but he gets pulled down face first into the middle turnbuckle pad; Miz up to his feet and runs at the back of Morrison, connecting with a brutal knee to the upper area. The crowd are impressed with the viciousness of the shot, a cover from Miz; returning the favour but once again it is a kickout before the count of two.
Miz looks for a DDT, but Morrison struggles his way out and manages to nail the chick magnet with a clothesline (referred to by the knowledgeable Matt Striker as a lariat) – Morrison doesn’t make the cover, smart move; he approaches the lower body of his tag team partner and hooks his left ankle, Morrison tweaks at the ankle causing Miz to shout out in agony but Morrison is soon countered by the remaining foot of his opponent, pushing him back into the ropes. Miz up to his feet and Morrison looks for his second clothesline, Miz however sees it coming and spins into a quick roll up for the two. Both men up to their feet once again, a surprisingly quick match from these two competitors here tonight; Morrison goes for an arm drag but Miz blocks it and takes Morrison over into a hip toss. He then connects with a well placed elbow to the abdomen, followed by a series of stomps to the same area. He seems to be targeting it now.
Commercial Break
We’re back from the break and Miz has Morrison in a single leg boston crab, Morrison is reaching for the ropes but Miz pulls him back into the centre of the right. Matt Striker notes that since the ECW Championship was brought back under the WWE banner, there have been ten champions; and that one of these two men is looking to be the eleventh. Morrison finally makes it to the ropes, the crowd don’t seem care; neither of these men are favourites.
Both men once again to their feet, Miz with a kick to the gut of his partner; comes off the ropes looking for the knee thrust he calls the Reality Check but Morrison gets out of the way. Kick to the gut by Morrison, Moonlight Drive attempt but Miz is able to get out, Miz with a second kick to the gut but this time follows through with a stiff looking DDT. Miz doesn’t make the cover, stupid move; but instead comes off the ropes does a stupid dance move (similar to John Cena’s 5-Knuckle shuffle) and looks for a leg drop but Morrison moves. Miz gets up to his feet and walks straight into the springboard kick from Morrison, both men are down as we approach the 4:30 mark. Morrison makes the cover but Miz kicks out, Morrison drags Miz up to his feet and is setting up for the Moonlight Drive once again but the music of Cryme Tyme begins to play through the arena. Morrison lets go of the hold and both he and Miz are now in anticipation of the arrival of Cryme Tyme (and so are this crowd by the looks of things, they’re on their feet and screaming)
Both men decide to leave the ring and make their way up the ramp, completely oblivious that they’re just ten seconds away from this match surpassing Mark Henry’s current standing. It doesn’t matter though, it’s now over and Mark Henry is still in the lead during this Beat the Clock challenge – Cryme Tyme are no where to be seen until the camera focuses in on them, up in a sky box; both with microphones in hand. Shad Gaspard makes his presence known by shouting “Losers losers, yeah yeah” – and the crowd seem to pick it up; Miz and Morrison look extremely annoyed. Cryme Tyme continue with their chant, further igniting the ongoing feud between these two tag teams as we cut to another commercial break.
Commercial Break
We’re back here on ECW on Sci-Fi and the ECW Champion, Matt Hardy is making his way down to the ring; the title draped over his shoulder. Hardy doesn’t enter the right, but instead joins Matt Striker & Todd Grisham at the commentary table, it seems as though he’ll be providing guest commentary on this upcoming match, the final of the Beat the Clock challenge. Striker welcomes Hardy and asks him how he’d feel about once again having to defend against Mark Henry, Hardy simply states that he’s a fighting champion and whether he wins or loses; he will always give it his all.

Beat the Clock challenge
Finlay w/Hornswoggle vs. Jack Swagger
Swagger is getting major heel heat here tonight; Miz and Morrison should look into his techniques as there is a lock up in the centre of the ring. A slight struggle between the two competitors before Swagger leaves the lock-up, steps back and offers a handshake to the fighting Irishman. Swagger has a cheesy grin on his face, Finlay doesn’t seem too impressed and that proves it, a vicious slap to the face sending Swagger staggering backwards. Finlay goes on the assault, a series of forearms followed by a kick to the gut and a clothesline over the top rope to the outside, Finlay is in firm control here. Swagger seems to be down as Finlay rolls under the bottom rope but he’s been playing possum, Swagger connects with a vicious sounding big boot to the side of Finlay’s head; causing him to fall down to the thin mat below as Swagger points at his now emerged grin.
Swagger pulls Finlay up to his feet and rolls him back into the ring, getting a couple of shots in for good measure; Swagger follows his opponent into the ring and takes his arm; he connects with a couple of knees to the joint before slamming it down onto the mat. Swagger pulls Finlay up to his feet and gets him in position for a suplex, lifts him up high into the air and stalls for a couple of seconds before slamming him down onto the canvas. Swagger hooks the leg for just a two count before going back on the assault. Jack Swagger once again pulls Finlay to his feet, this time manoeuvring him into the corner of the ring; Swagger connects with a hard knife edge chop to the chest, gaining a reaction of “Woo’s” from the ECW crowd here. Swagger goes for another, but it seems Finlay has had enough and quickly swaps positions with his opponent and gets a chop of his own in, Finlay continues with the chops before the referee tells him to back it up, much to the dismay of the crowd. Finlay however does, Swagger tries to take the opportunity and goes charging at the Belfast brawler but only gets a lightning fast power slam for his troubles, 1…2.. and no; kick out from Swagger. It looks like we’re going into another commercial break, our last.
Commercial Break
Back to the action and Swagger has taken control, we cut to a replay; during the break Finlay went for a powerbomb type move; but Swagger was able to backdrop him over and out of the ring, it looked like a pretty impressive spot; shame it was during the break. Swagger has Finlay in the middle of the ring in a boston crab, he’s wrenching at the hold as Hornswoggle looks on; urging his father to get to the ropes. Hornswoggle begins to clap his hands, getting the crowd to do so as well, Finlay seems to be gaining some sort of momentum boost as he’s quickly approaching the ropes; one final reach and yes, he’s made it; The referee starts his count and Swagger has to break the hold or risk being disqualified. Swagger breaks at four; he goes to lift Finlay to his feet but the Irishman sends his opponent through the ropes to the outside. Swagger seems to be disgruntled by this and begins to chase Hornswoggle around the ring, Hornswoggle however does the smart thing and slides into the ring where a slightly refreshed Finlay is waiting. Finlay goes for a clothesline and connects, Swagger is straight back up and Finlay lifts him up for the celtic cross; Swagger however is able to get out of it, he then connects with a kick to the gut and hoists Finlay into the air; Blue Thunder Bomb connects out of absolutely no where!
The camera cuts, Mark Henry has been making his way down to the ring and is now on the apron; the referee is distracted and can’t count the fall. Henry continues to rant on as Swagger gets to his feet to see what the hell is going on; as he does, Hornswoggle slides a Shillelagh in to his father. Henry is still distracting the referee as Swagger turns, shot to the skull! – Finlay gets rid of the evidence and runs at Henry connecting with a clothesline sending him off the apron, Finlay covers Swagger and the referee counts the three.
Winner at 5:11 by Shillelagh shot: Finlay
It takes a few seconds before its announced, but Finlay has broken the time that Henry set earlier in the night; all thanks to Henry himself. Tony Chimel announces the news as Henry looks on in disbelief, Finlay celebrates with Hornswoggle in the ring as Matt Hardy stands up behind the announce table. A brief staredown, a lot of respect between these two.
Finlay is number one contender, what a night of ECW action. Matt Striker and Todd Grisham thank us for joining them as the copyright notice comes up, the show is over.
- The Boogeyman was advertised to be on ECW but we're being made aware that he pulled a muscle in his leg whilst training in FCW for his return last week. Although nothing specific is known yet, no mention of him was made on ECW just incase the injury has him out for a long period of time. Our source has hinted that this is more than likely the last draw for The Boogeyman and that he is too much of an injury risk to have in constant action on ECW. We'll update you when we have more.
- The dark match before ECW was Elijah Burke vs. Gavin Spears; Burke won the match following a forward russian legsweep. We'd like to thank Luke Mann for sending that information in.

ECW on Sci-Fi preview: November 4th 2008 (Source: To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. ) NUMBER ONE CONTENDER VS. WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN
Last week here on ECW, we saw Finlay Beat the Clock and earn himself a championship match at the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view, Finlay however; had some help from an unexpected man, that being the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry. Henry, apparently irate at how the main event went down on Sci-Fi, stormed Theodore Long’s office earlier today and demanded a match with Finlay tonight, Long accepted and the match is on. Will Finlay be able to show his win last week was well deserved, or will Henry expose him as a fluke?
Also this week on ECW…
ECW Champion, Matt Hardy is in action.

Oh the irony in Finlay winning is fabulous. I'm rooting for him to retain as the added time of real life plus this show, Henry/Hardy has been going on too long and not in an epic way. Chavo Guerrero needs a push, and at the same time I'm hoping for a midcard title. Hopefully those can both work at the same time. Nice show. Very good.
