This is a project I've been working on for a pretty long time. I call it WCW: Earth 2. Similar to DC comics Earth 2, this is an alternate universe that bears little to no resemblance to the real universe. My next several posts will include current champions, main roster, first Wrestling Observer, and first Nitro.
And to anyone who will say "This guy wasn't around yet" or "this guy wouldn't be in WCW" or "this guy was retired in 1996" or "Nitro didn't debut until September 1995" My answer: It's an alternate universe, meaning I can have as many gaping holes in logic as I want.
World Heavyweight Champion since 12-7-95: Curt Hennig(Face)- Debuted in June and quickly engaged in a feud with Ric Flair. That feud ended in August, with Hennig getting the final win. He then went on to team with Hulk Hogan, Ricky Steamboat, Dustin Rhodes, and the newly face turned Flair at War Games against Randy Savage, Vader, Rick Rude, Steven Regal, and Ultimo Dragon. Team Hogan won, and Hennig would go onto a short feud with Rick Rude, before winning the World War 3 Battle Royal, and then beating Champion Randy Savage in the Main Event at Starrcade to win the title.
US Champion since 6-11-95: Ultimo Dragon(Heel)- In June he was taken under the tutelage of legendary manager Mr. Fuji in June and he quickly captured the vacant US Title in tournament finals by defeating "Flyin'" Brian Pillman. He has since feuded with the legendary Ricky Steamboat and the quickly rising star, Eddie Guerrero, defeating both of them as well as any other challenger against him, proving himself to be a dominating champion.
TV Champion since 10-19-95: Shane Douglas(Heel)- Debuting the night after the Great American Bash, with manager Paul E. Dangerously, he quickly began a feud with TV Champion, Eddie Guerrero. After drawing him once, Eddie soon got a victory, but Douglas would get the last laugh, ending Eddie's 4 month long reign at Halloween Havoc. His first challenger would be Japanese icon Jushin "Thunder" Liger, a man whom he would beat at two seperate occasions.
Tag Team Champions since 12-7-95: The Thrillseekers (Lance Storm and Chris Jericho)(heels)- After being debuted by Douglas's manager Paul E. Dangerously, who dubbed them the Tag Team of the Future, the beat several jobber teams over a course of two months before being defeated by the Steiner Brothers at their PPV debut. They claimed to have been cheated, though, and would again challenge at Starrcade, in a three team match, also involving Harlem Heat. Jericho would pin Booker T and the two would gain their first tag team titles, though the Steiners are likely to be very vocal, considering neither one of them was pinned.
Rest of the Roster:
Randy "Macho Man" Savage: (Heel) In June, when teamed with Sting to take on Harlem Heat, he turned heel and began a long feud with the very same man he turned on. After defeating him in the final match, he would go on to challenge and beat Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Title at Halloween Havoc and enjoy two month reign before being defeated by Curt Hennig at Starrcade. Currently the #1 heel in WCW, as well as in wrestling.
Hulk Hogan: (Face) Defeated the monster Vader on two separate occasions while still champion and led his team to victory against Team Savage at War Games, but then lost the title to Savage at Halloween Havoc. After losing his rematch because of Savage's underhanded tactics at World War 3, he has not been seen at all. His current position within the company is unknown.
Sting: (Face) Feuded with Randy Savage and Rick Rude, losing and winning both feuds respectively. Currently considered to be a big contender for Hennig's title and will likely receive a shot in the near future
Ric Flair: (Face) Feuded with Curt Hennig all summer long, until turning face at War Games to joining Team Hogan. He would then begin a feud with Brian Pillman, before he quit the company. Backstage reports have claimed that Flair may be out of the Main Event scene for most of the year, letting younger guys get a chance.
Arn Anderson: (Face) Still an alley to the Nature Boy, he turned along with his friend. He teamed with Bobby Eaton while still heel to challenge the Steiner Brothers unsuccessfully, and after turning face, feuded briefly with Steven Regal, but has worked mostly as an agent and alley to Ric Flair.
"Ravishing" Rick Rude: (Heel) Debuted in the War Games match with Team Savage and had his first singles PPV match at Halloween Havoc, a losing efforts against Curt Hennig. He would then beat Sting in their first match at World War 3, but would lose to him at Starrcade.
Eddie Guererro: (Face) Beat Steven Regal for the TV Tite in late June and, though his reign was short, gained great popularity during the reign. He had a great feud with Shane Douglas, the man he would eventually drop the title to. At Starrcade, he unsuccessfully challenged Ultimo Dragon for the US Title, due to interference from Dragon's manager, Mr. Fuji.
Steven Regal: (heel) Held the TV Title for a little more than a month, and soon after losing debuted a new attitude, one of a very tough brit. This attitude of a brawler has led him to victories over the likes of Arn Anderson, Dustin Rhodes, and even Ric Flair in Tag Team competition.
Dustin Rhodes:(face) Feuded with Regal for awhile before being targetted by the Ice Man, Dean Malenko. He would be defeated by Malenko at Starrcade and it is believed he has wrestled his last match with WCW, as his contract expires at the end of the year.
Ricky Steamboat: )face) Debuted at War Games as Team Hogan's mystery member. Went on to feud, in a losing effort, with Ultimo Dragon, and hasn't been used a whole lot since then.
Dean Malenko:(heel) Debuted in late October, and would soon be recruited by Mr. Fuji. Beat the hell out of Dustin Rhodes on several occasions.
the Giant: (heel) The muscle of the Dangerous Alliance.
Harlem Heat: Feuded with the Steiners and lost the titles to them. Turned face and feuded with The Thrillseekers, with Ted Dibiasi as their manager.
The Steiners: Currently embroiled in a feud with The Thrillseekers, after losing their titles.
That's everyone with a backstory. There's more, like jobbers and people who haven't debuted yet and people I may have forgot, but you get the gist. First show's coming soon.
-Recently signed 2 Cold Scorpio is expected to debut within a month or so. His role is currently unknown.
-Luchadores Rey Mysterio Jr., Psychosis, and Mr. Auigla are expected to make their debut on the first Nitro of the year, where it is expected to be announced that a new Cruiserweight Title will be christened.
-WWF Superstar Chris "Skip" Candido has signed a contract with WCW and will come over as soon as his WWF deal expires at the end of January.
-The feud between Savage and Hennig is expected to be slightly haulted and Hennig will face a new challenger at Clash of the Champions, and the two will likely have a rematch at Superbrawl, with the possibility of a stipulation.
-Current jobber Jerry Lynn is expected to be given a mild push in the coming months.
-When Vader left WCW after War Games in September, he was expected to jump directly to WWF, but with that companies sinking popularity ever apparent, they haven't been able to make the power they wanted to, and reports are saying that if a move isn't made by WWF by Summer, Vader could very well be back in WCW by mid-year
The show opens with Curt Hennig coming out with his newly won WCW World Heavyweight title. He thanks the fans for their support and says that this is the most prestigious title in the world, and he will do it good. He finishes by saying he'll be a defending champion. Before he can make it all the way back though, he's interrupted by some kid from the back. He has a mic in hand and says that there's a new guy booking matches backstage, and he says that tonight's Main Event will be Curt Hennig teaming with Sting, to take on Randy Savage and Ultimo Dragon, in a match he will be watching closely, because the #1 Contender may be determined!!
Steven Regal vs. Johnny the Jobber
Regal goes right on the offensive and makes extremely quick work out of the young jobber, yet still in brutal fashion. A Regal Cutter followed by a stretch finishes the match.
Winner: Steven Regal
After the match is over, Regal gets on the mic. He says that he's already beaten his lackey, Arn Anderson, and now he wants the Nature Boy himself. He calls Ric Flair out, but he gets no answer.
Shane Douglas w/Paul E. Dangerously vs. Willow the Wisp
Willow puts up a decent fight, but is just no match for the TV Champion. The Franchiser does the deed.
Winner: Shane Douglas
Douglas continues the attack, with his manager rooting him on. After a second Franchiser and a sick laugh, he walks out.
Backstage, Sting is talking about how he made Rick Rude his bitch, and though he respects Curt Hennig, he will be taking the strap off of him the second he gets the chance. He howls before finishing.
After a break, Mr. Fuji is backstage with Dean Malenko and Ultimo Dragon. The focus of the interview is on Dragon. He says that tonight, he'll make sure everyone knows why he's been US Champion for a half a year. Dragon says something in Japanese and Fuji leads Malenko out to the ring.
Dean Malenko w/Mr. Fuji vs. Jerry Lynn
Really good match here. Malenko goes in quick on the young Lynn, but Lynn uses his speed to mount a good offensive series against the Ice Man. Soon, however, Dean uses his brute force and tenant tearing technique to ground Lynn. Lynn counters the Texas Cloverleaf into a small package, but Malenko manages to kick out. Sensing danger for his star, Fuji gets on the ring apron and tries to distract the ref, but Lynn vaults him over the ropes. The ref moves out of harm's way, but Malenko, rushing to his manager's aide gets shoulder blocked down by his own flying manager. Lynn quickly rolls Malenko up and gets the three count. As sson as the bell rings, however, he is outside of the ring, not waiting to feel Malenko's wrath.
Winner: Jerry Lynn
When we return, The Thrillseekers, alongside Paul E. Dangerously and the rest of the Dangerous Alliance are in the ring. Paul E. presents Jericho and Storm with their newly aquired Tag Team belts. Douglas tells them about how great it is to be champion. But just when Jericho is about to take the mic, the Steiner Brothers!! run in from the crowd with 2x4s and take the Thrillseekers out, while chasing Douglas, Paul E. and the Giant out of the ring. They hold up the tag team belts and look down at the fallen champs.
Main Event: Curt Hennig and Sting vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Ultimo Dragon w/Mr. Fuji
Great ME tag match. Savage tries everything he can do to injure Hennig, but Sting his there to stop him every time. While Dragon is in the ring, he uses the speed advantage he has over both of his opponents to gain on them. At the end, Sting is about to lock in the Death Lock on Dragon, but Mr. Fuji gets on the apron, despite knowing from experience it may not end well. Sting drops the hold and goes to get the ref, but Dragon's quickness gets to him and he gets low blowed by the Japanese Star. Dragon then sets Sting up and hits a Dragon Suplex on the Stinger, and with his feet on the ropes and Macho isolating the World Champion on the outside, he gets the victory.
Winners: Ultimo Dragon and Randy Savage
When the match is over, the sound of...BAGPIPES IS HEARD THROUGHOUT THE ARENA!!! The crowd goes crazy as the Hot Scott "Rowdy" Roddy Piper emerges from the backstage curtain. He says he's the man in charge now the way he sees it, after that match only one thing can be determined. That at the Clash of the Champions, it will be a clash of champions as the World Heavyweight Champion Curt Hennig will take on the man who just pinned Sting, the United States Champion, Ultimo Dragon! Fuji celebrates with Dragon as the show fades.
Match 1: The Giant w/Paul E. Dangerously vs. Lenny Lane
Lane tries to run from the monster but is easily caught and easily destroyed. Chokeslam literally almost kills the jobber. Winner: The Giant
After the match, the Giant stands tall and Paul E. gets in the ring and grabs a mic. He says that if the Giant doesn't start getting real matches, Paul E. has no choice but to turn him loose. He then directs Giant to Chokeslam Lenny again. He does, this time throwing him out of the ring.
Match #2: Rey Mysterio Jr. and Jushin "Thunder" Liger vs. Mr. Aguila and Psychosis
Great, incredibly faced paced lucha match. The crowd is way into it, as this is the first luchadore exposure to them. In the end, Liger catches Aguila sleeping and hits a fisherman buster on him for the win. Winners: Rey Mysterio Jr. and Jushin Liger
Liger and Mysterio hug after the match is over and high five a bunch of fans.
Mr. Fuji is backstage with Ultimo Dragon and Dean Malenko. He first talks about how Ultimo Dragon will beat Curt Hennig at Clash of the Champions and become the first ever Japanese WCW World Heavyweight Champion. He then focuses on Dean. He says that Jerry Lynn capitalized on a miscommunication on Monday and it won't happen again. He says he can meet the Ice Man anytime for a rematch, and he promises the result will not be the same.
After a break, Steven Regal is backstage. He calls Ric Flair a coward for not showing up, and that this Monday, while Ric will probably at home with his family, because it's Christmas night, he'll be on Nitro and he'll make the same challenge again. And if Flair doesn't answer, he'll hurt another wrestler.
Main Event: Shane Douglas and Chris Jericho w/Paul E. Dangerously vs. Scott Steiner and Eddie Guerrero
Really nice Main Event here. Eddie seemed rather frustrated with himself after taking a beating from Douglas and being forced to tag out to Steiner. When Steiner's in the ring, he fights with Douglas, clearly wanting Jericho, but Jericho doesn't want in. Just when it looks like Steiner's gonna finally get his hands on the Thrillseeker, his fulltime partner, Lance Storm runs down and jumps Steiner from behind, causing a disqualification. Winners, by DQ: Scott Steiner and Eddie Guerrero
Eddie runs in to try and fight off the Dangerous Allaince, but they're too much for him and soon they're beating on both Eddie and Scott, until Rick Steiner runs out from the back. He mounts enough of an offense that Eddie and Scotty can regroup and the three send the DA packing as the show goes off the air.
The show opens with Roddy Piper standing backstage. He announces that tonight, it'll be a double main event, with Curt Hennig and Ultimo Dragon picking eachother's opponents. He then says he hopes everyone enjoys the show.
Match #1: Shane Douglas w/Paul E. Dangerously vs. Brad Armstrong
Armstrong comes out good, seeming to get an early advantage on the TV Champ, but Douglas soon capitalizes on a missed spot and begins to pummel Armstrong. He finishes by hitting a big Belly to Belly into the ropes for the win. Winner: Shane Douglas
Douglas looks down at his fallen challenger and laughs, then spits on him and delivers a few more stomps, before Paul E. backs him off.
After a break, the Steiner brothers are standing in the ring. They talk about how the Thrillseekers may have talent, but until they get rid of Paul E., they'll never have any respect. This brings out the Thrillseekers with their loudmouth manager. Rick Steiner vs. Lance Storm is up next.
Match #2: Lance Storm w/Paul E. Dangerously and Chris Jericho vs. Rick Steiner w/Scott Steiner
Excellent match here. Storm gets the advantage to open the gate, using his speed and technique advantage to ground the dog faced gremlin. However, once on the ground, Steiner uses his mat skills to lock an arm bar onto Storm. Storm, manages to get out of it and the two jock for position for a good 2 minutes, quickly, but Rick's size advantage gets him on top. After the ref breaks Steiner's headlock, Storm scoots to the outside of the ring and discusses strategy with his manager and partner. Once back in the ring, Steiner again gets an advantage. Paul E. gets on the apron and distracts the ref, while Jericho tosses one of the tag team belts to Storm. Scott Steiner, however, on the outside pulls Paul E. down and Lance Storm gets distracted, allowing Rick to go to the top and hit a top rope bulldog onto the tag belt for the win. Winner: Rick Steiner
Jericho runs in after the match and nails Rick with the belt, but he is quickly taken down by Scott Steiner. However, Scotty is then taken down when Paul E. calls for The Giant to take out both Steiners. Paul E raises the hands of 3/4 of the Dangerous Alliance, including the winded and stunned Lance Storm, over the fallen Steiner Brothers and we cut to commercial.
Match #3: Dean Malenko vs. Steve Armstrong
Bad luck continues for the Family Armstrong. First BG has to play the Roadie, then Scott enters rehab, then Brad gets his ass kicked by Shane Douglas and now this. Malenko doesn't allow any offense for Steverino. Within minutes, he has the Texas Cloverleaf locked in and Armstrong is tapping like a wild banshee. Winner: Dean Malenko
After the match, Mr Fuji says that Roddy Piper has granted his wishes and at Clash of the Champions, not only with Ultimo Dragon become the World Heavyweight Champion, but Dean Malenko will get revenge on Jerry Lynn. He then directs the Ice Man back to the locker room.
Match # 4Steven Regal vs. Joe E. Legend
Surprisingly good match here, with the young Legend putting up a really good fight. In the end, however, Regal locks in the Regal Stretch and Legend has no choice but to tap out. Winner: Steven Regal
When the match is over, Regal gets on the mic and again calls out Ric Flair. The Nature Boy doesn't answer and Regal shakes his head and walks out.
After the break, Ultimo Dragon is being led to the ring by Mr. Fuji. The two wait in the ring, waiting to see who their opponent will be. They're greeted by The World Heavyweight Champion Curt Hennig who says that the man Ultimo Dragon will be wrestling is a legend. He says he's powerhouse. And most importantly, a horseman and... A BRAINBUSTER! He introduces his opponent as the Enforcer, Double A, Arn Anderson!!
Main Event #1: Ultimo Dragon w/Mr. Fuji vs. Arn Anderson
This is really really great. Arn uses his veteran know-how and sheer force to beat the ever living fuck out of Dragon in the early going. Just when thing start to look bleak for the Japanese star, he begins to mount a comeback offense. Using speed and quickness, he begins to weaken the wily vet. After going for a good 13 minutes, Anderson has again gotten the advantage. He tosses Dragon into the ropes and looks for a spinebuster, but Dragon slides under double A and Mr. Fuji jumps up on the apron and THROWS SALT INTO THE MOTHERFUCKING EYES OF ARN ANDERSON! Anderson falls backwards right into a Dragon Sleeper. The Enforcer, though, refuses to tap and is eventually choked out, giving Ultimo Dragon the win. Winner: Ultimo Dragon
Ultimo Dragon's hand is raised by the ref but he throws the hand away and Mr. Fuji instead raises the hand of his client. Ultimo Dragon motions to Curt Hennig who's standing on the ramp and makes a belt around the waist signal.
We cut backstage where Rick Rude is walking. He runs into Eddie Guerrero. Rude says Eddie's making quite a name for himself lately...as a loser. He reveals himself as Hennig's mystery opponent, saying that the Ravishing one was chosen by Mr. Fuji to soften up the World Champion for Ultimo Dragon. He also says that when Dragon beats Hennig, he'll be the first to get a shot, and within months, Rick Rude will be World Champion. Eddie's just some guy who Dragon already beat. He then laughs at Eddie and walks off. The camera zooms in on Eddie's distraught face.
Main Event #2: Curt Hennig vs. "Ravishing" Rick Rude
Great technical match here. I could go more into detail, but I'm running out of time, so I'll just say that Hennig wins by DQ when Ultimo Dragon runs down and attacks Hennig. Winner, by DQ: Curt Hennig
After the match, Rude, Dragon and even Mr. Fuji take turns beating on the World Champion. That is, until Eddie Guerrero runs down with a chair and though his main target seems to be Rude, he clears the rest out as well. He helps up Hennig as the show fades.
The show opens with Randy Savage standing backstage in a dark room. He talks about how he hasn't forgotten Curt Hennig, and he shouldn't get too comfortable with his title. Cause, Savage is coming for it.
Match #1: The Giant w/ Paul E. Dangerously vs. Mr. Aguila
Total squash. Chokeslam finishes the Mexican off. Winner: The Giant
After the match, Giant chokeslams Aguila again, and Paul E. again calls for more competition for his monster.
Backstage, Dustin Rhodes is in Roddy Piper's office. He asks for a match and complains about being left off the past few weeks. Piper says that he'll be in the Main Event tonight, challenging for the TV Title against Shane Douglas. But if he manages to lose that match, he'll be released from WCW.
Match #2: Steven Regal vs. Jushin "Thunder" Liger
Pretty quick, but awesome nonetheless match. Liger and Regal go back and fourth before Regal is able to ground him and start working away at his joints. Liger, ever persistent, however, manages to recover well from the submission work and begins a speed attack on the English brawler. However, when Liger goes to the top, coming down, he's met with a stiff fist to the stomach, allowing Regal to hit a Regal-plex for the win. Winner: Steven Regal
Regal leaves the ring and grabs the mic, but before he gets on, presumably to call out the Nature Boy again, he stops and simply smiles and walks away.
Douglas and Paul E. celebrate over the out cold Rhodes. Douglas laughs and spits on Rhodes, before being interrupted by the returning Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat! Steamboat talks about how he won the Tag Team Titles with Shane Douglas 3 years ago and he's convinced that this Shane Douglas is a different man. He says he has lost all respect for the Franchise and challenges to a match at Clash of the Champions, where Steamboat promises to show him why he's still just a punk kid. Douglas accepts and the two stare eachother down across the entrance ramp.
