TNA iMPACT preview - Thursday 14th August 2008

Just four nights ago at Hard Justice, Samoa Joe battled Booker T inside TNA's most vicious structure for the one thing that means more to him than anything in the world, the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Joe was able to overcome the odds set against him and defeat Booker T, retaining his championship and once again taking possession of the championship belt. After the three count however, 'The Icon' Sting made an appearance, taunting Joe from the entrance ramp as Hard Justice went off the air; what will happen this week on iMPACT! as Jim Cornette has confirmed that Sting will be in attendance. Have weeks of mind games from Sting affected the Samoan Submission Machine? or is Samoa Joe ready to face 'The Icon' and gain revenge for weeks of unexplained actions.

Also this week on iMPACT!..

TNAWRESTLING.COM can now confirm that The Latin American X-Change have asked for their re-match for the TNA World Tag Team Championships this week on iMPACT! - At Hard Justice, the team of Robert Roode and James Storm; collectively known as 'Beer Money Inc.' were able to capture the championship gold. Will their reign as champions be short lived? or will LAX regain the championships they desire.

Tune in to TNA iMPACT! on Spike TV for all this and more.

TNA iMPACT - Thursday 14th August 2008

iMPACT! opened with a video package highlighting the events of Hard Justice, focusing mainly on Samoa Joe retaining his TNA World Heavyweight Championship only to have Sting make an appearance to close the show. We cut straight to the iMPACT! zone, no pyro or introductions from Mike Tenay and Don West; TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe is standing in the ring with the World Title belt perched over his shoulder… he has a microphone in hand as the crowd begin their signature “Joe” chant.

Joe says that he is sick of games, sick of trying to make sense of what is happening and is sick of Sting avoiding facing off with him; he says that he is not leaving the ring until Sting comes out to the ring and goes face to face with him like a man. A few seconds pass but Sting is no where to be seen; Jim Cornette of TNA management makes an appearance and comes down towards the ring; he enters and says something to Joe as the crowd look on confused. Joe pauses for a few minutes before taking once again to the microphone and saying that ‘The Icon’ isn’t here tonight, like the ‘coward’ that he is he’s once again avoiding him; Joe finishes by saying that this isn’t the end… only the beginning before dropping the microphone and making his way up the ramp.

TNA World Tag Team Championships
Beer Money Inc. (c) def. The Latin American X-Change

Roode and Storm had the advantage early in the match, showing off their willingness to work as a team making quick tags and keeping then legal Homicide in their corner of the ring. Homicide however was able to come back hitting Roode with an Enziguiri kick causing him to stumble forwards and lose his sense of awareness for a few seconds. Homicide proceeded to make the tag to Hernandez who quickly began to clean house, he went to take Roode up for the Border Toss but Jacqueline got up onto the apron; distracting the referee; Roode managed to struggle his way back down to his feet as Storm and Homicide brawled on the outside; Roode dropped to his knees and connected with a low blow on Hernandez and hitting a well placed DDT; he made the cover and secured the three.

After the match, referee Rudy Charles handed Beer Money Inc. their World Tag Team Championship belts as they quickly made their way up the ramp. The crowd booed loudly as Roode and Storm posed on the ramp, STILL the champions; LAX looking on from the ring.

We cut backstage to the office of TNA Management’s Jim Cornette; there is shouting going on between Booker T, Sharmell and Cornette himself; Booker T tells Cornette that he deserves another chance to beat Samoa Joe and that he didn’t come to TNA to be without gold. Cornette replies by saying that Booker T will get an opportunity to get another match with Joe but that ‘here in TNA’ things aren’t just given to people. – Cornette says tonight that he will be competing in a Four-Way contest with three other winners from Hard Justice to determine who the next challenger for Samoa Joe is at No Surrender.

Kaz def. Petey Williams w/ Rhaka Khan
Kaz made an impressive return to TNA after several weeks absence, making a mark by pinning the X-Division Champion in singles action; Although Williams was able to take control early on due to the outside interference of Rhaka Khan; Kaz was able to come back and hit a lightning fast roll-up to gain the three count over Maple Leaf Muscle.

TNA Women’s Knockout Champion, Taylor Wilde is seen speaking backstage with Jeremy Borash. JB asks Wilde how she feels about her loss at Hard Justice; Wilde says that she doesn’t like losing but she doesn’t hate it and that it fuels her to do better. She says that tonight, Love is involved in an 8 Knockout’s Battle Royal to determine who faces her at No Surrender and that if it happens to be her, she would be up for the fight.

The Motor City Machine Guns def. The Rock N’ Rave Infection w/Christy Hemme
Before the match, Christy Hemme gave us a rendition of Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child of Mine” which the audience seemed to enjoy from their rampant booing; Lance Rock took advantage of the smaller Chris Sabin early on but eventually fell to his speedy kicks and made a tag to Jimmy Rave, Sabin takes control and makes a cool tag to Alex Shelley. In the end Shelley hits Rave with a Sliced Bread #2 (Which Mike Tenay and Don West are now calling the Reload) – Rock tried to break up the pin but was taken out by a dropkick from Sabin who had now entered the ring. Tenay and West note that “This could be a huge step towards the Tag Team Championships”

We’re backstage with Christian Cage and Rhino, Christian Cage says that although he respects Rhino and all they’ve done together; he will do whatever it takes in the Four-Way Contest tonight to gain a shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Rhino says he expects nothing less from Cage and that he’s looking forward to the match. The two are interrupted by Kurt Angle who says that he was a winner from Hard Justice and is the final entrant in the match tonight… he goes on to say that he will be getting an opportunity at Samoa Joe and that Cage or Rhino better not get in his way.

8 Knockout’s Battle Royal: Winner faces Taylor Wilde at No Surrender
Gail Kim def. Awesome Kong, Traci Brooks, Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, ODB, Jacqueline and the debuting Jazz

Order of Elimination:

Awesome Kong (eliminated by all seven other Knockout's)
Jacqueline (eliminated by ODB)
ODB (eliminated by Jazz)
Traci Brooks (eliminated by Jazz)
Velvet Sky (eliminated by Gail Kim)
Angelina Love (eliminated by Gail Kim)
Jazz (eliminated by Gail Kim)

The announcers note that Jazz had an impressive showing in her debut match here in TNA and that we could expect big things from her as Gail Kim is declared the winner and now first contender to the TNA Women’s Knockout Champion, Taylor Wilde.

Backstage we see ‘Black Machismo’ Jay Lethal speaking with SoCal Val; Lethal asks Val if she is finally read to marry him now that Sonjay is out of the way, Val hesitates for a few seconds before telling Lethal that the whole situation with Sonjay has thrown her and that she needs more time to think, she leaves as Lethal looks on; devastated.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe makes his way down the ramp and sits at the commentary table with Mike Tenay and Don West, he will be providing guest commentary for iMPACT!’s main event of the evening.

MAIN EVENT: Christian Cage def. Rhino, Kurt Angle & Booker T
It was noted as Kurt Angle was making his entrance that AJ Styles isn’t here tonight due to injuries suffered at the hands of Angle at Hard Justice; this match wasn’t very long but certainly showcased the talent of those involved in it. It was noted that it was just one fall to the finish, during the match Tenay asked Joe about Sting to which Joe replied “He’s next on the agenda” – Towards the end, Rhino had been knocked outside the ring by Booker T, Booker T then off his guard was hit with an Olympic Slam by Angle causing him to roll under the bottom rope and to the outside, Christian Cage then saw an opportunity and ran up behind Angle, rolling him up and getting the three count and victory.

After the match, Cage celebrated in the ring as Angle looked on in shock; Samoa Joe then came from the commentary table and looked on at Cage from outside the ring. Suddenly the lights go out and the music of Sting hits – as the lights come back on, Christian Cage is laid out in the centre of the ring with a black baseball bat on his back. Joe looks on in confusion as Mike Tenay and Don West wish us a good evening with iMPACT! going off the air.

Re: TNA Wrestling: Cross the Line

You did a good job keeping Beer Money in caracter as i dont think they have actually won a match clean yet in TNA. Jacqueline getting involved seemed about right aswell.

I like that your not going with the Kaz quitting storyline that TNA are doing. I also liked the way he beat Petey. He didnt destroy him so Petey still looks good even tho he lost.

From the very few promo's ive seen of Taylor you seem to have her caracter right. Glad the Machine Guns got the win but i hope Rock n' Rave dont get tossed to the side & forgotten about for the most part.

Backstage with Christian & Rhino was good, i wasent sure about Angle's involvement in the interview tho. He seemed out of place but maybe that was just me.

Impressed that Traci out lasted so many other Knockouts, she's usually one of the first eliminated. Im not thrilled with Gail winning, but its much better than ODB winning.

A very good idea to stick Joe on commentary for the main event & it payed off with the post match happenings.

A really good first full show but the only thing i will say is about putting the result before the match summary. I dont really see the point in that as you know who's going to win before you even read. Otherwise keep up the good work.

TNA iMPACT - Thursday 21st August 2008

iMPACT! opens with a video package highlighting ‘The Icon’ Sting and his accomplishments in TNA Wrestling. It showcases his two TNA World Championship wins in an uplifting fashion before the music becomes more dark, as do the images on screen; the package goes over the last few weeks and Stings apparent change in attitude; it finishes with a shot of Christian Cage lying in the ring – the black baseball bat resting on his back as we cut LIVE to the iMPACT! zone in Orlando, Florida where the camera sweeps through an electric crowd.

Mike Tenay and Don West welcome us to the show and declare that later in the broadcast, we will be hearing from Christian Cage, TNA World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe and ‘The Icon’ Sting - Before leading into the theme music of Kazarian to start things off.

Frankie Kazarian vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir
Both men got a good amount of offence in as “USA” chants blast through the iMPACT! zone; Kazarian tries to take advantage of an opportunity and hit the Wave of the Future but Bashir sees it coming and manages to worm his way out before hitting a vicious DDT for a very close two count. Bashir looks as though he is going up to the top rope for something and comes flying off with a splash only for Kazarian to move, Bashir however lands on his feet and gets drilled by his now standing opponent who quickly connects with the Wave of the Future. Before he can make the cover however, TNA X-Division Champion; Petey Williams runs down the ramp and into the ring, attacking Kazarian as Bashir rolls from the ring.
No contest due to interference

Williams continues his assault on the man who defeated him last week and goes to connect with the Canadian Destroyer; Kazarian however is able to make some sort of a comeback and a brawl ensues between the two with Kazarian seemingly getting the upper hand. His advantage over Williams doesn’t last long however, as Sheik Abdul Bashir enters back into the ring and attacks him from behind. Mike and Don West express their disgust for the assault as Williams pulls a disorientated Kazarian into position and nails him with the Canadian Destroyer laying him out in the centre of the ring. Both Williams and Bashir then pose in the ring with Bashir spouting something out Arabic.

A video package airs announcing that next week; both Kurt Angle and AJ Styles will be here at the iMPACT! zone – it questions what will happen before fading out.

We cut backstage to Jeremy Borash who is standing by with TNA World Tag Team Champions, Robert Roode and James Storm; collectively known as Beer Money Inc. JB asks Roode how he feels about his upcoming match with Chris Sabin, Roode replies that Chris Sabin isn’t an issue and that he isn’t a threat, he says he considers Sabin to be below him and that this match is an insult to everything he has worked to achieve in this business. James Storm cuts in and says that Sabin isn’t a threat and that once tonight is over, there’s going to be need for more and more Beer Money. The two walk off with the TNA World Tag Team Championships as JB looks on.

Robert Roode w/James Storm vs. Chris Sabin w/ Alex Shelley
This match did not start as Robert Roode had anticipated backstage, Sabin used his speed advantage to miss the offence of Roode and hit him with some of his own. Roode however did take advantage when James Storm tripped Sabin who had come off the ropes, as the crowd boo loudly; Roode continued to dominate throughout the match and it seemed as though all hope for Sabin had been lost, that is until an impressive counter of the Pay Off into a roll up gained Sabin an impressive victory on iMPACT!
Winner by Pinfall: Chris Sabin

Sabin quickly rolls out of the ring as Storm enters, furious at what he has just seen happen; the Motor City Machine Guns celebrate collectively as they make their way up the ramp looking on at the fallen Roode AND the TNA World Tag Team Champions.

We cut backstage where the camera is moving frantically with Frankie Kazarian walking through a the corridor, still slightly disorientated; Frankie knocks on the office door of Jim Cornette and asks him what happened out there tonight. Cornette says that he had no idea what was going on tonight but does have an idea that could make Kazarian feel better about it, he says that Petey Williams needs a challenger for No Surrender and that we have two men connected to the champion, he says he wants to make things “interesting” – So next week it will be Frankie Kazarian one-on-one with Sheik Abdul Bashir to determine who will go on to No Surrender to battle for the X-Division Championship.

Awesome Kong & Jazz vs. Gail Kim & Taylor Wilde
Awesome Kong and Jazz dominated in the early going as Taylor Wilde was controlled by the two using a series of quick tags and vicious moves, Wilde however was able to break away for a second and leap, making the tag to her No Surrender opponent; Gail Kim. Kim entered into the ring and brawled with the legal, Jazz as Kong looked on from the apron. Kim went to hit a DDT but Jazz pushed her away and into Wilde, making the tag; much to Gail’s annoyance. Wilde entered into the ring and received a stiff clothesline from Jazz before she makes the tag to Awesome Kong, who enters the ring and levels her with an Awesome Bomb.
Winners: Awesome Kong & Jazz

Kong and Jazz make their way up the ramp, looking on in victory as Kim enters back into the ring; obviously she didn’t try and break up the final tag of the match and just stands over the fallen Taylor Wilde looking as though she has extremely mixed emotions.

Backstage we see Christian Cage speaking with Rhino, Cage asks Rhino what the hell is going on; first Sting is playing games with Joe and now him? – Cage says he’s going to get to the bottom of it and that once he wins his match next; he’s calling both Joe and Sting out to that ring to end this once and for all.

MAIN EVENT: Christian Cage vs. Booker T
Our iMPACT! main event saw a bout with non-stop action; neither man could be called ‘dominant’ as the two went to war in the middle of the six-sided ring. Towards the end of the bout, Booker T looked as though he was going to secure victory with the Axe Kick but Cage was able to side step and look for the Unprettier, Booker T however pushed him away and as he came back went for the Book End. Cage however escaped with a flurry of elbows; allowing him to capitalize on the dazed Booker T and connect with the Unprettier for the win.
Winner: Christian Cage

Cage’s music plays over the PA system but he is in no mood to celebrate, he takes a microphone from somebody at ringside and catches his breath for a second. Cage says that last week, he won a match fair and square and that he didn’t expect to be laid out in the middle of the ring; he says he’s been thinking about it all week and doesn’t quite exactly know what is going on… so would like to call the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe out to the ring. Joe’s theme music plays and he makes his way out towards the ring with the belt draped over his shoulder, Joe enters the ring and takes a microphone before standing and addressing Cage, the crowd begin their ‘Joe’ chant.

Cage asks Joe whether last week he was sitting out here in the iMPACT! zone, waiting to see who won so his “partner” Sting could take them out and send a message, or if he’s caught up in all this Sting “crap” too… whatever it is, Cage wants answers and he wants them tonight. Samoa Joe says that he isn’t involved with Sting or his messed up games and that he wants answers just as much as Cage does, Joe begins to shout and says that TONIGHT Sting better get out to this ring without the lights going out, or next time Joe sees him; he’s going to PUT his lights out… once and for all. Cage and Joe wait in the middle of the ring as the crowd are in anticipation of Sting, nothing happens.

Joe says it’s just what he expected, Sting isn’t man enough to come and face off with him in the ring so; he says that Sting needs to realize that he doesn’t run the show here and that it’s not just Cage and himself that he has begun to annoy. Joe says that he’s been to the office of Jim Cornette and that TNA management have given him seven days to explain himself… or he will be FIRED. The crowd don’t quite know how to react as Joe drops his microphone and begins making his way up the ramp; STING comes out onto the ramp as Joe stops dead in his tracks. Sting has a microphone in hand and is ready to explain;

‘The Icon’ says that he has been in this business long enough to know what is happening with people, he says that over the last year he has had a revelation about those in TNA and what they’re hoping to achieve. Sting says that he isn’t a young up and coming star and that he has done everything he has ever wanted to accomplish in this business and that now he can sit back and watch people… he sees nothing but those who have been corrupted by their own desire to win. Sting says he’s watched Joe, and how he’s always said that he isn’t in it for the fame or the fortune, the acclaim of the wealth; but Sting sees different – He says that Joe is fake and that this business has changed, no longer is it about being the best professional wrestler, it’s about being the best superstar and that Joe is leading this revolution in TNA due to him being the top dog, due to him being TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

Sting says that Christian Cage battled last week, doing all he could to get the acclaim of those here in the iMPACT! zone but that it doesn’t fool him and that he knows what Christian Cage is really about. Sting says that he has been unvoiced for long enough and that now he is ready to take his rightful place as leader in TNA… as TNA World Heavyweight Champion, to lead the pathless into a new age of professional wrestling, a better age of professional wrestling. Joe interrupts and says that Sting seems to be mistaken, he says that STING should be the one who is looking himself in the mirror, Joe says that he has worked every iMPACT, every house show and been at every autograph signing TNA has ever asked him to be at and where has Sting been? At home, getting money on his “special contract”

Joe says that he is TNA Champion through hard work and dedication, not through being a brand name from the 90’s that thinks he can still go. Christian Cage interrupts Joe and says that maybe Sting has a point, maybe Joe and him are ‘superstars’ – but that doesn’t make them any less willing to be the best WRESTLERS they can be. Sting says that it is beyond the point and that he has decided to make Samoa Joe and Christian Cage his first students of the new age… and that they are the chosen few. Samoa Joe, sick and tired; drops his microphone and goes to approach Sting but smoke begins to cloud the stage. Joe looks on in confusion, as does Christian Cage as Sting is no where to be found.

Mike and Don question what Sting has said and what problem he has with Samoa Joe and Christian Cage… they mention that next week, Frankie Kazarian and Abdul Bashir battle it out to determine the number one contender to the X-Division Championship before wishing us good night, iMPACT! goes off the air, a final shot of a furious Samoa Joe.

Matches confirmed for TNA No Surrender:

TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Samoa Joe defends vs. Christian Cage

TNA Women's Knockout Championship
Taylor Wilde defends vs. Gail Kim

Intro with Sting clips seems good I love the fact that you say he has had a change of attitude. I hope you do not do what WCW always did and make it at the ends that it was not him I would love to see Sting turn into a fully fledged heel and just reak havoc on everyone with his bat. Probably wont happen but could be awesome.

In the opening contest I like the way you mentioned both men got a lot of offence in this way it does not make either wrestler seem weak. Okay so Kazarian about to get the win until Petey Williams runs out so obviously those two will be feuding. Could be good.

Okay so the attack after the match is typical heel stuff very good. Then Bashir comes back into the ring and helps Williams is this a unlikely alliance or will there be a triple threat for the title or was Bashir just there.

Okay so Chris SaBin vs Robert Roode did not know who you were going to make win but the fact that Sabin won just makes me think that there is definintely going to be a tag title match between these two teams. GO BEER MONEY by the way.

Okay so Kazarian vs Bashir next week I am expecting interference by Petey Williams resulting in a No Contest which will lead to a triple threat but you never know,.

Main Event was excellent. But when you put Christian Cage against Booker T it is always going to be excellent. I thought Christian would win though so then he can try abnd get to the bottom of the Sting issue.

Okay so Christian coming out and calling out Samoa Joe was pretty expected. Samoa Joe sounded kind of heelish saying Sting is not man enough I don’t know fi that is a future heel turn or what but anyway. Okay so then Sting begins to speak and it seemed okay So ummm Stign wants Samoa Joe and Christian to be his students that was weird but weird as in a way I want to know more. I was very disappointed when Sting left because then I knew the promo was over.

Re: TNA Wrestling: Cross the Line

I like the Bashir involvment in the X-Division picture, even if he is sided with the champion. Im intrested to see where this is going with Bashir & Petey, who as far as i know have to history together.

A nice win for Sabin. The fashion it happened in made Roode stay strong while also putting the Machine Guns over as a legit danger to Beer Money's title reign. I'd love to see these two teams go at it for real, but it's probably quite some way off IRL.

Nice backstage segment with Kaz & Cornette. Quick, to the point & set up a match next week. May be a little favourtism on my part but im hoping Kaz gets the win.

No Offence but the the finish of the Knockouts Match made Taylor look pretty weak. She gets tagged in, clothselined, Awesome Bomb, done. The Gail not breaking up the count has me intrested. But i think that a heel turn for Gail might be too obvious with the circumstances.

I like the idea of Sting being upset by the current crop of wrestlers & what they aim to achieve. Joe's lines to Sting on the ramp were really well done & easy to imagine him saying them. A new dissapearing act for Sting? The smoke was a little odd but overall i like the direction this is going thus far.

Really good show again & im looking forward to your next.
