| New Era Wrestling: Wrestling's Resurrection New Era Wrestling: Wrestling's Resurrection TNA & WWE were in times of crisis. First WWE fans turned on the product and attendance numbers and buyrates suffered. John Cena had been champion for a year and a half and things were extremely stale. TNA was in the same boat. Things had gotten stale around there and fans were also starting to lose interest. The things took a turn for the worst when congress called WWE & TNA management to Capitol Hill for a day talking about steroids and also early death in the sport. WWE took the worst of it and when fans started to come in in almost non-existent numbers and the USA, Sci-Fi and CW networks bailed out of their TV deals, WWE was forced to suspend opperations and all contracted talent was told that they could leave the company if they wanted to. TNA didn't get hurt as bad by congress but the damage was done with their fans. The final straw was when Panda Energy, TNA's main financial backer pulled out of their contract and forced TNA to release a ton of talent. Other talent such as Booker T and Kurt Angle chose to simply walk away from TNA. TNA went on for a few more weeks but the dream was over and TNA was forced to shut down. This was in December of 2007. Then for 3 months wrestling had disappered from the face of the earth. ROH and other independents were still touring but fans had started to lose interest. Then in March of 2008 an alliance was formed. It all started when former TNA owners Jeff & Jerry Jarrett along with Dixie Carter made contact with former WCW owner Ted Turner to ask him about the prospect of a new promotion. Once Ted agreed then former ECW Owner Paul Heyman joined the team as the Creative Head. They eventually other tycoons decided they liked what they saw and took a chance and eventually talent was signed. However, this talent was going to be a change. No more big monsters who can't really wrestler, no washed up talent holding on to shreads of their career's. This was going to be about the best wrestlers in the world today, the present and the future of the business. New Era Wrestling was born...
