| WWE: Reformatting The Future Well with some major thought I've put this together. I originally planned on posting this, before coming up with that Vince idea which I just wasn't having fun with. I've got LONG term plans for this - and I can't wait to get into this. Enjoy folks. Backstory: At the tail end of 2003, we go right ahead into Survivor Series. This is by far one of the biggest PPV's of the year and of course has the buildup of such, with an Ambulance Match, a Buried Alive match, and even a world title match. In the eyes of many, this show proved to be a disappointment as well as it gave breathing room. But with this obviously failing leading to one of the biggest catastrophe's in WrestleMania history, so how do you fix this problem? You find the source of the problem. And the source leading to Kane/Undertaker, Goldberg's bad title reign continuum , and so forth, is Survivor Series 2003. I will be re-building everything to do with the buildup to WrestleMania XX and presenting a brand spankin' new, spectacular show, that will be recapped, but it will be worth the read. I'm rebuilding this age and time to set the stage for what should've been this day and age's restart of the attitude era, it had all the pieces, but it seems to have run out of glue before the puzzle was put in place. I will put the picture perfect puzzle together, just time and patience's fella's, time and patience ----------------------- ![]() Promotion: World Wrestling Entertainment Brand(s): Raw & Smackdown! Date: November 16th, 2003 Venue: American Airlines Arena City & Attendance: Dallas, Texas 13,487 Survivor Series Match: Team Angle: Benoit Angle Cena Holly Bradshaw Team Lesnar: Lesnar Show Morgan Jones A Train
------------------ This PPV ended with one of the most stacked heel victory ending's, with the whole show set up where the heel's all together overcome the odd's. But this ensured a lot of things, and made things all for the better. Moving forward, some of the same buildup occurs leading up and until Armageddon 2003, as Booker T/Henry devolopes and so forth. Kane is "indefinitely" suspended by The McMahons, throwing their weight around and so forth, with Shane convincing Vince to do this; much because of what happend in the Ambulance Match. Goldberg sets up to face off against Triple H, in a 20 minute time limit, no disqualification matchup, with this being Goldberg's "last shot". Off of Flair screwing Team Austin, Shawn Michaels attempts to "avenge" his team, by facing Batista, Flair's body guard more or less. Flair promises to face off against HBK, if he passes this test, Batista is the test. Trish Stratus and Lita fight Molly Holly, for the women's belt, with Trish joining the "scene" for this matchup, not much to say, continues building and Trish enters the scene off of Survivor Series 03. Chris Jericho and Christian team together, to tame the tag title mountain and defeat Booker T & RVD on the way to the gold, where they take the titles. The Dudleyz put a challenge forth to Christian/Y2J for the belts, laying their claim at Armageddon 03. Randy faces RVD for the IC Title with the same build, as Foley is the special guest referee for this contest. 6 matches of doom, here comes the show. ---------------------- ![]() Promotion: World Wrestling Entertainment Brand(s): Raw Date: December 14th, 2003 Venue: TD Waterhouse Centre City & Attendance: Orlando, Florida 12,672 Mono e Mono Singles Match: Booker T defeats Mark Henry (w/ Theodore Long) after a scissors kick. WWE Women's Championship Triple Threat Match:Molly Holly defeats Trish Stratus & Lita after a roll up with a handful of tights on Lita. WWE Intercontinental Title Special Guest "Referee" Match:Randy Orton defeats Rob Van Dam w/ Mick Foley as special referee, after an RKO.
World Tag Team Title Match:Chris Jericho and Christian defeat The Dudleyz after giving Bubba a double dose of Vitamin C, with an enzuigiri right into an unprettier for the pin, with D-Von out on the outside. Singles Match:Shawn Michaels defeats Batista (w/ Ric Flair) after sweet chin music. Flair got involved a few times, but HBK knocked his lights out as well with Sweet Chin Music. 20 Minute Time Limit No Disqualification World Heavyweight Title Match:Goldberg and Triple H drew at the end of the show, Goldberg had the pin on HHH at the end, but he was one second short of victory, with the time limit being met as the count was at two and a half, leaving HHH to retain his title. Goldberg speared and jackhammered the referee then in an act of rage. The show ends with HHH outcold, but with the belt laid over him, with Goldberg chants throughout and Bill posing for the crowd. ------------- After Survivor Series; The Undertaker is proven to be "missing" in action. He was MIA after being buried by The McMahons and hints of him returning were made all the way from SS to the Royal Rumble, but he did not appear and the jokes on The McMahons wore their patience thin. Los Guerrero's were on the verge of splitting with Eddie going towards his singles career and Chavo towards the CW Title, which lead to a temporary separation of The Guerrero's, which proved good for Eddie and bad for Chavo. John Cena has a quick mini feud with Benoit off nearly screwing him - till new year when Benoit went over and made Cena tap out. The Bashams retained the titles throughout and over time, as Mysterio defended his title against Chavo, into the Rumble which set up a falls count anywhere encounter for the CW Title at the Royal Rumble. Outside of Lesnar prepping for his next title defense, after his Angle feud ended in December with a 30 minute ultimate submission match, that ended 0-0. Lesnar was usually in the midst of crossfire with Heyman helping him against Benoit. In a side note; No Way Out is canceled randomly right after Survivor Series, it's taken off the line up. Big Show focused on developing a mini stable, with Jones & A-Train developing it with Heyman managing them atm, with it's focus unknown, but it was developing slowly. This all developed right up into the new year of 2004, where Vincent Kennedy McMahon came out on Smackdown the week before new year and announced that on Raw that Monday, they were going to have a Draft Lottery! Where at random, 3 superstars would be drafted to the opposing brand, by Eric on Raw and Heyman on SD. This in turn was set up and preparing to buildup some of the biggest moves of the year. Vince said it was "time to shake things up" before the biggest WrestleMania of all time - WrestleMania XX. --------------- On Raw, the following draft results occurred. To Raw: Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit & Shaniqua. To Smackdown: Shawn Michaels, Rob Van Dam & Bill Goldberg. In turn, The Bashams lost their manager and a main eventer plus a upper midcarder. Same in the opposite direction was lost. Angle started aligning himself with The McMahons and started a heel turn, after moving to Raw, Big Show began a face turn and Shaniqua joined the loaded women's division. Chris Jericho earned his way into a World Title match against Triple H, with Christian showing extreme jealously at this. Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels set up a contest against one another for the Royal Rumble, which was set to still be on at the PPV. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin had been seen lurking around at old Ric Flair matches, viewing things and so forth. The tag titles shifted hands to Jindrak and Cade, off Christian & Y2J, since Christian left Y2J out to dry for one reason, or another, and hadn't been seen since leaving Y2J high and dry, which lead Y2J to prosper. Shaniqua, then came forth to challenge Lita, of whom won the belt off Molly on the first Raw of the next year. Which is leading to a match at the Rumble. Kane got taken out by Angle in a psychotic rage at The McMahons comands before the Royal Rumble. Kane took a tremendous beating, it took three steel chairs and an Angle Slam right through a production truck to put him out. ---------------------------- Brock Lesnar was built up to face off against the new acquisition, in Rob Van Dam, who won a number one contender's match. This was built as David vs. Goliath, a 2002 Royal Rumble rematch, where RVD wanted to take Lesnar's everything, which was his belt. And Lesnar wanted to rip RVD limb, from limb. Paul Heyman "behind the scenes" was working on a side project backstage, that wasn't Lesnar, or his new group of monsters, of whom sorta drifted into their own for awhile. Heyman was working on something.. or well someone very big, but who? The Royal Rumble was coming ------------------- ![]() Promotion: World Wrestling Entertainment Brand(s): Raw & Smackdown! Date: January 25th, 2004 Venue: Wachovia Center City & Attendance: Philadelphia, Pennsalvania 17,289 WWE Cruiserweight Championship Falls Count Anywhere Match: Rey Mysterio defeats Chavo Guerrero with the west coast pop for the victory to retain the gold. WWE Women's Championship Match: Shaniqua defeats Lita to win the Women's Championship, after a choke bomb slam into the mat. Backstage we see The McMahons and Kurt Angle making negotiations. Angle promises "not to let them down" and Vince laughs sadistically while Shane looks on very pleased. One on One: Shawn Michaels defeats Ric Flair, when STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN appears, and stuns Flair, off the ropes, right into sweet chin music for the three count! After the contest; Austin cut a promo about him losing his job, and Ric as the reason for it, so he figured he'd give Ric a thank you in the form of sign language and a good ole' can of whoop ass. He then poured beer on a downed Flair as HBK left and drank another, signaling his return and said he's 'see Ric tomorrow night.' WWE Championship Match: Brock Lesnar defeats Rob Van Dam to retain the title with an F-5. World Heavyweight Championship Match: Triple H defeats Chris Jericho to retain the WHC Title after a pedigree.
Now let's begin with the build up and match announcements for WM. The first ever MITB is announced, with competitors for it winning spots and 3 spots from both brands are earned. Cena, RVD, Mysterio, Booker, Matt Hardy, Big Show and all win spots into this. Chris Benoit not having a brand chose already, "choose" what champion he wanted to face. Chris Benoit choose to face Triple H, which leads to many confrontations and the usual champion vs. challenger build up after picking HHH. But this is different. Benoit went up against the entire onslaught of Evolution, proving himself to be strong and un-damaged. Triple H one week used his sledge hammer, Batista, and Randy Orton to dismantle Benoit, for him to only come back the next week and lay out Orton and Batista with Foley's "help". This is a raging war, with both men realizing all that is on the line, leading into WrestleMania with many intense face offs. Chris Jericho and Christian's feud heats up after Christian's return to cost Y2J his chance to win the WHC title at the Rumble, which lead to Y2J screwing Christian's chances up in the Rumble itself. Christian can't handle Y2J on his own, so he hires Scott Steiner to do his dirty work for him and it gets done well, leaving Captain Charisma satisfied with his work. Y2J called Christian out on his jealously and told him to act like a man, and face him on the 'Highlight Reel'. That didn't happen as Christian charged through the crowd and attempted to sneak attack Y2J, only to receive an enzuigiri and a Lionsault for his troubles. Christian calls Y2J to the ring then the next week and challenges him to WrestleMania, then to have Y2J immediately accept leading forth to the usual heated confrontations up and until WrestleMania. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin made his star studded return after the Survivor Series massacre, to make a statement. The night after WrestleMania, he called Ric out, like a man and asked for an apology. He said there are no hard feelings on his part, and he wants to be "friends" per say. Ric comes out in a suit, looking younger than usual and not as old as he is. Flair came out and disrespected Austin, by telling him HE'S washed up and that Flair's still got some uumph in him, and that Austin has nothing left in the tank after that incident last year at WrestleMania. The train wreck with The Rock. Austin said then 'well I wanted to be friends, but oh well it never gets old doing this..' and Austin gives Flair the finger and stuns him. Flair is out and Austin celebrates. For weeks, Flair is irate over being embarrassed by Stone Cold and tries to put together an idea to get the upper hand over him. Flair came up then after weeks of thinking in a "Stone Cold" truck, with a beer in his hand and even Stone Cold's old hat he used to wear around WM 17 time. Austin then comes out and says 'he thought he taught this old man one time before who's boss' but he then said he guess's he'll have to do it again. Out of nowhere, Batista and Randy Orton come out and attack Austin from behind, and beat him down with several brutal shots. They lift Austin onto his knee's in front of Flair, and Flair smacks him a few times, then asks him spitting hin his face 'how do you like that, how do you like that Austin, huh!?!' After that, Mick Foley cleaned out coming out and taking down Batista & Orton (the people he was feuding) and scared Flair off, who hightailed it then, with his tail between his legs. Austin next week called Flair out, mono e mono said last week he made it 'personal' and this week he was going to "settle it". Flair wouldn't appear and Austin provoked him talking about his wife and his kids, etc, which got a rise out of Flair to come out and so forth. Austin then talked some trash and told Flair that he should've retired when the company he "use" to work for, went out of business, because when a wrestler's broke you can't fix it. And Flair's very broke, in many ways. Ric then yelled at Austin saying the only thing "broke" is Austin's neck, and then challenged him to a match, then saying 'it's not like you can accept, because it's not just your neck broke.. your balls are broke as well, WOO!' provoking Austin to an extreme after he rejected due to his neck. Austin said after that 'Well now that I think about it, I do have enough left in the tank, to take your sorry ass to school and back, so you can bet your old fat ass that I'll be openin' a can of whoop ass on you come March, son.' And then Flair/Austin brawled and fought for the weeks leading to WM, with their match finalized. Kurt Angle lead on to face The Undertaker, in an inter promotional feud where The McMahons set Angle after 'Taker to tame him, so they wouldn't have to deal with his wrath. Weeks of fighting, leading to The McMahons making a 'No Hold Barred' WrestleMania match between the two, where they vowed to together break The Undertaker's undefeated ways at WrestleMania. With the odds staked against The Deadman how will he fare?? Orton/Foley's feud developed and Batista joined in as a part of Evolution, to help solve the problem that is Foley, which lead to a hardcore handicap match being created, Orton/Batista vs. Foley at WrestleMania. Orton/Foley went on course as it was almost basically in real life, with this feud much like the real life scenario. ------------------------------ WrestleMania, also had one other tremendous contest, outside of a built tag champions vs. tag champions match, the newly face turned WGTT who just won the belts off The Bashams faced The Perfect Match, Raw's Tag Champions. On a side note: The F.B.I broke up with Nunzio going into the Cruiserweight Division and Stamboli & Palumbo staying as a tag team in the tag division, nameless. Smackdown's main event was a spectical, made of pure magic. It was Brock Lesnar versus Shawn Michaels versus Eddie Guerrero! A tremendous main event set up by many things. HBK came to SD with his sights set on a title shot, he warned Lesnar at the Rumble that he was coming for his belt after his match and Eddie was set on a steady pace forwards towards something great. The third show after the RR was where a battle royal occurred to decide Lesnar's opponent at WrestleMania. Eddie & HBK lasted as the last two and eliminated one another at the end of the match at the same time. Which lead to one thing- a triple threat match. Heyman made the match at WrestleMania a three way, giving Lesnar insight on how to turn HBK/Eddie against one another so he could sit back and watch, let them do all the work at WrestleMania, while helping Heyman slightly develop in the absence of Show to Raw. HBK fought for the World Title he wanted badly. This was his second WrestleMania in 6 years, and he had won a world title in the main event 7 years ago, but it wasn't enough for him. HBK wanted it all and was willing to do anything to overcome it all. Eddie was lie, cheat, and steal, he was willing to do whatever it took to get the title, but the fans loved him and followed him no matter what he did. Lesnar became paranoid for weeks, tried to avoid his opponents, but they all played mind games with one another, trying to confuse one another from their actual goal, but they all were in it to take home the gold. Lesnar was frightened and one week went on a rampage to take out Eddie & HBK. That week he knocked both down for the night, but not out, and next week revealed what he did and said that is what he'd do at WrestleMania to get his title to stay around his waist. Eddie proclaimed what he usually does and HBK went after Lesnar on a rampage, to figure out if he had a chance at WrestleMania which he eventually figured out he was the most likely to win. Eddie then fought his demons inside, that kept telling him 'Eddy, you can't do it man you never could and you never will'. Eddie then was told that by HBK backstage.. by Benoit backstage and Heyman and Lesnar. Eddie started to "believe" in himself, three night's before the PPV when he proved himself, in a rough spot he got out of with his skills. His faith grew a tad and a huge match was coming.... the biggest of all of their careers. ---------------------- ![]() Promotion: World Wrestling Entertainment Brand(s): Raw & Smackdown! Date: March 14th, 2004 Venue: Madison Square Garden City & Attendance: New York City, New York 20,000 The festivities opened up with a grand package, with all the old WrestleMania moments, and all of the big old matches, Rock vs. Hogan, Austin vs. Rock, Michaels vs. Austin, Hogan vs. Andre, Warrior vs. Hogan, and so forth. The package consisted of a huge replay of moments, over time with a WrestleMania 17 like theme. Then we got some talk from all the superstars, talking about their dream becoming a reality tonight. Benoit, Undertaker, HHH, Y2J, Austin, Flair, Lesnar, Eddie, and HBK, plus Cena, RVD, and so forth appeared on this video which was the best video in the WrestleMania history. The show went off with a bang and a bullet. The Madison Square Garden arena was completely sold out and WrestleMania XX was the biggest card EVER from top to bottom. It begins. The Debuting MITB Interpromotional Ladder Match Rey Mysterio vs. Matt Hardy vs. Big Show vs. John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Kane: This contests consists as the highest impact match of the night, to really get the crowd going. The winner of this match has to unhook a briefcase, and that briefcase holds a contract for a guaranteed world title shot, anytime within this year, that they can use anytime they want, against EITHER Champion. The competitors gave it their all in this contest, performing like all stars. RVD performed the spot of the night, with a springboard five star frog splash through two side by side tables on the outside, on Kane and Big Show, taking all of them out. Cena nearly hit an F-U on Hardy at the end of the 22 minute contest. Matt Hardy though jabs Cena in the face and gets his feet on the other side of the ladder, to then go and hit a twist of fate right onto the top of the ladder with Cena's face colliding with metal! Rey Mysterio comes in out of no where and goes after Matt to have Hardy flip him over his shoulders over the apron to the concrete floor. Matt slowly re-scaled the ladder as Cena went to try and tip the ladder, but Matt uncliped the suitcase already before John could do so making Matt Hardy, Mister Money in the Bank!~ This was an easy **** 1/4 star contest. Easy. WWE Women's Championship Match: Victoria fights and loses to Shaniqua, the amazon completely abliterates Victoria in 6 minutes and retains her title, in a big opener. One on One: Chris Jericho fights and loses to 'Captain Charisma' Christian in a hard fought *** ¾ star contest, after 15 minutes. At the end Christian cheated with a low blow and a roll up with tights for leverage, ala the low blow from last year's WrestleMania Y2J did to HBK, giving Jericho a taste of his own medicine. Tag Champions vs. Tag Champions: Shelton Benjamin pins Garrison Cade with a T-Bone Suplex, a new "finisher" of his own, that he used to take down his adversary. This match was 11 minutes long and *** stars, better than expected, and WGTT celebrate after their performance. Hardcore Handicap Match: Batista and Randy Orton crush Mick Foley after 13 minutes of fight, with some brutal assault on him, with a Demon Bomb, right up into an RKO, to his own barbedwire bat. Foley walked out after this contest, with a smile still, bleeding profusely, but Evolution had won tonight over him, more importantly the IC Champion got one over Foley, Orton prevailed in a very savage *** ½ star contest. 5 Years In The Making: 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin overcomes the odds and defeats 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair. This contest was monumental, as the star of the 80's fought the star of the 90's, a dream match thought by several, a few year's off of what people hoped to be when they fought, but it still tremendous. Flair had his best match in years, as Austin bleed ala Hart/Austin WM 13, in a figure four and when that didn't get it done, Austin got a sharpshooter used against him. Austin reversed it into his own sharp shooter, and Flair broke out of that. To then get up and stand up with Austin, go for a boot, but end up being span around into a stunner, ala WrestleMania 14! Flair kicked out of that, to then hit Austin's stunner on himself, right after, leading to a kickout from Austin. The match ended with Austin making Flair submit with his own figure four leg lock, after two minutes in the hold, of Flair writhing in pain. This **** ¼ star performance merely but not so much matched his Rock/Austin match from the year previous. After the match, both men shook hands, showing mutual respect for each other raising each other's arms. Austin and Flair then "shared a beer" on a one night only basis at WrestleMania XX, for Austin to stunner Flair out at the end, to celebrate in the back by himself for his monumental victory. The Olympic Hero versus The American Bad Ass in a No Hold Barred Match: Angle w/ The McMahons at his side, fought triumphantly only to lose to 'The Deadman' and his undefeated ways at WrestleMania. The Undertaker goes 12 0 tonight after a long twenty minute wrestling match, after taking a harsh beating to have his brother KANE return and clean house with him, since it was no hold barred, The McMahons could do nothing about it besides the fact they interfered more times than not. Kane and Undertaker then celebrated as 'The Brothers of Destruction' at the end of this ****+ star contest. This was Kane's "re-turn" to face, after the heel run he was going on went sour with his feud against Shane. WWE Championship Triple Threat Match Shawn Michaels vs. Brock Lesnar © vs. Eddie Guerrero: This contest is one of the most amazing of the night, with a **** ¾ star performance capping off almost the most amazing night in wrestling history. HBK and Eddie fought in the beginning, with Lesnar's plan to send them at each other working, but then they together set their sight's on Lesnar, who took them both on and out at once, to then focus on HBK and not worry about Eddie for a few good several minutes, 15 minutes into the contest. At that point, Eddie caught Lesnar in his own fault, turning away from a competitor and giving them breathing room. Eddie used this to his advantage, and caught Lesnar after he hit an F-5 on HBK, and tripped Lesnar up into the El Paso! But after causing severe pain to Lesnar for a long time, HBK kipped up all of a sudden and then laid Eddie Guerrero out with Sweet Chin Music! HBK then covered Eddie Guerrero to win the WWE Championship, as Lesnar was immobile and useless, leaving Shawn to overcome the odds and Eddie's hopes and dreams lost, with the champion having been overcome. World Heavyweight Championship Match: Chris Benoit defeated 'The Game' Triple H to become the World Heavyweight Champion, making HHH submit after a grueling thirty minute contest full of twists and turns. Evolution interfered, ala Biatsta and Randy Orton, only to be met by EDDIE GUERRERO to be taken out of the equation which infuriated 'The Game' leading to his downfall. This was one of the matches of the night, **** ½ contest. After the contest Benoit celebrated with his family, only to have Eddie Guerrero then jump into the ring and congradulate him as well as celebrate his victory, leading to HBK coming out and raising both men's hands showing they were both "winners" even though Eddie lost in the three way to HBK at the end. A tear jerking moment, before the video of the show played and we fade to black. ------------------------------- Now that, that's over with, here are the rosters, enjoy.
