After the pyros go off for the start of Raw, the camera cuts to a limousine pulling up in the car park, Vince McMahon exits the limo, camera zooms in on Vince as he says ‘This will be a historic night for Monday Night Raw’. Another voice is heard in reply “I agree”, camera pans out to show Shane McMahon who was also in the limo


Opening Segment
The Miz explains all

AWESOME!!

The Miz come to the ring with Alex Riley holding the MITB briefcase, he has a mic:

Miz - “I’ve been on facebook and twitter all week, and there’s only one topic that people are talking about, its not who the new general manager of Raw is, it’s not who’s going to win the Royal Rumble. Everybody wants to know why I decide to attack Wade Barrett and make myself an enemy to the Nexus. I mean the Nexus is pretty focused on John Cena, so why get involved in the middle of someone else’s business? It’s real simple, If Wade Barrett won his tag team match last week, he wouldn’t have to defend the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble. I didn’t want that to happen. You see Wade, I want you to defend your title as often as possible, I want you to have as many matches as possible to keep your tired, in fact I want you exhausted. Because I’ve got a contract to make a WWE title match whenever I want, and when I choose to cash in my contract, I’m going to make it count. Perhaps it’ll be when after you’ve used all your energy defending the title against John Cena in 3 weeks time, perhaps it’ll be tonight. One things for sure Wade, when I cash in, your reign will be over and mine will begin, because I’m The Miz………..and I’m………”

WE ARE ONE!!

Nexus leader and WWE Champion Wade Barrett walks down to the ring on his own, The Miz does not look happy about being interrupted. He has a mic.

Barrett - “Miz, I used to think that you had something about you, some intelligence that people like John Cena lack. I used to think here’s a guy who’s going places in the WWE. I used to think that. But last week you made the single biggest mistake of your entire WWE career when you attacked me from behind with the money in the bank briefcase. Because of your actions, you and your little friend Alex here are now enemies of the Nexus. As for your little speech, thank you for the kind warning, I’ll make sure to put the Nexus on full alert when I’m out wrestling. I hate to be the one to burst your bubble Miz, but there’s not going to be any golden opportunities to cash your contact in on me, I’ve got an army of five men who’ve got my back, let me ask you Miz, who’s got your back?……”

As Wade Barrett’s finishes his talk with Miz, The Nexus run through the crowd and attack Miz and Riley from behind. The beatdown continues for about a minute, with the Nexus members hitting their finishers on the helpless duo. Barrett orders Otunga and Harris to pick up Miz, as he picks up the MITB briefcase, and slams it over his head. Raw goes to a commercial break as Miz and Riley are left downed in the ring.


Segment 2
AJ and Gail Kim defeat Maryse and Alicia Fox

AJ picked up another win on Monday Night Raw with her Wheelbarrow Bulldog enough to put down Maryse.


Segment 3
And the new Raw GM is……

NO CHANCE IN HELL

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon struts to the ring, with his son Shane McMahon by his side; Shane opens the ropes for his dad. Vince has a mic.

Vince - “Last week I returned to WWE programming to reveal that I was scrapping the anonymous general manager set up on raw, and that tonight I would be announcing a new, on screen, general manager. And with the way Nexus believe they are running the show here, the appointment could not be more suitable or better timed.”

It should be noted that Shane McMahon has been grinning like the Cheshire cat whilst Vince has been talking

Vince - “I believe this man has the qualities that I’m looking for in a general manager; a man who knows what its like to compete here in the WWE, a man with a great knowledge of the wrestling industry, a man who has a sound head for business, a man of great integrity who demands the upmost respect as a boss, man with great contacts in the game and a man who is up for a tough challenge”

Shane is nodding along to all these criteria

Vince - “So without further ado, please join me in welcoming the new general manager of Raw……...........


.........KEVIN NASH”


The old nWo music starts up and ‘Big Sexy’ walks out to a great reception. Nash, dressed in a suit and with short grey hair, walks into the ring and shakes the hand of Vince McMahon. He offers his hand to Shane, but a clearly pissed off Shane ignores Nash’s offer, Vince walks backstage and Shane follows suit, shaking his head and arguing with his father. Nash has a mic

Nash – “It’s great to be back at the top baby. I gotta tell ya, I was very surprised when a received a call from Vince, very surprised. We had a great talk, we cleared the air and he offered me the general manager position here at Raw. Well it took me about a nanosecond to accept the offer, I’m an ambitious man and I want to work for the best wrestling company in the world, the WWE. I know the sceptics out there will think I’ve accepted the role just to benefit my wrestling career, but this isn’t going to be ‘The Kliq’ all over again. I’ve retired from in ring wrestling; I’m strictly about doing what’s right for the business rather than looking out for number one. Now as you all know, the Royal Rumbles coming up, and over the next couple of weeks, there will be qualification matches to fill up my 15 allocated entrants to the rumble match. But I’ve heard Teddy Long on Smackdown talk about how he wants a superstar from Smackdown to win the royal rumble and that he’s hand picking eight men to be put straight into the match. That’s not a bad idea, what better way to impress Vince McMahon and prove to him that he was right to hire me, then to ensure that a superstar from Raw wins the royal rumble. So I’ve given it some thought and have made my top five picks to be entered straight into the royal rumble, they are; Sheamus, The Miz, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton………………and CM Punk. I’ve been on the phone to Punk today and he assured me that he’d be fit to return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. As for the other superstars, this is your chance to impress me, so don’t let me down".

Kevin Nash leaves the ring as the fans try to get their heads around Vince’s bombshell of a GM appointment.

Royal Rumble Qualifier
Ezekiel Jackson defeats Darren Young

Ezekiel Jackson makes light work of the former Nexus member Darren Young, beating him in under a minute, pinning him after the ‘Book of Ezekiel’


Segment 5
Vince explains his vision

We cut to the parking lot where Vince is about to leave the arena, Shane asks him why he hired Kevin Nash as Raw GM over Shane. Vince replies that Kevin knows about big powerful groups that try to run the show and he’ll know how to destroy the Nexus. Vince adds that Shane didn’t impress in his trial run as anonymous general manager and that he wants Shane to focus on the corporate side of the WWE, not the glitz and glamour of the on screen world of wrestling. He wants to make sure that Shane is fully prepared to take over the business when the time comes for Shane to takeover.

Vince – “One day this will all be yours Shane”

Vince enters his limo and Shane shuts the door,

Shane – “and it might be closer than you think Vince”

Shane laughs to himself as he walks around the limo to the other door, enters the limo and the two drive off.


Segment 6
Randy Orton wants John Cena

I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD

Randy Orton walks slowly to the ring, but he does not pose on the turnbuckle, he means business as he grabs a mic:

Orton – “Roll the footage”

A video package plays on the titontron of last weeks main event – John Cena and Randy Orton vs Wade Barrett and David Otunga. The clip shows John Cena turning on Randy Orton in the climax of the match, hitting the Attitude Adjustment on Randy before pinning David Otunga.

Orton – “John, you better have a good explanation for attacking me last week. Come down to the ring and meet me face to face right now!”

MY TIME IS NOW

John Cena cautiously makes his way into the ring, he has a mic:

Cena – “Randy I know you’re angry, I know you’re mad. This feud with Nexus has changed me into a different person, I’m more ruthless, I’m more aggressive, I don’t trust anybody. The only thing I care about at the moment is stopping Wade Barrett, hell I care more about destroying the Nexus than I care about winning the WWE Championship. Last week you were just an obstacle to me, something that stood in the way of my goal, if I didn’t take you out with an attitude adjustment, I might have lost my best chance at stopping Barrett. So if you’re looking for an apology, I’m afraid you’re out of luck. You know what Randy, I think deep down you know that given the chance, you’d have RKO’d me to get your title shot and I think your mad at yourself for not giving me the RKO earlier in the match”

Orton – “You know what Cena……….you’re right”

Randy Orton drops the mic and give John Cena a RKO, Randy stares at Cena crazily and lines him up for the punt when the new general manager of Raw, Kevin Nash interrupts

Nash – “Randy, if you punt John Cena, not only will I pull you from the Royal Rumble match, but I’ll make sure you never get a WWE title shot whilst I’m general manager. This is not the way things will be going down on my watch. Orton if you want to fight John Cena, you got it, but later tonight in the main event.”

Orton continues to stare at Cena, but gives in to Nash’s orders and leaves, giving a cold look at Nash as they cross paths at the top of the ramp.


Segment 7
Royal Rumble Qualifier
John Morrison defeats Alex Riley

Alex Riley, still feeling the effects of a Nexus beat down earlier in the night, was no match for the ‘Monday Night Delight’ John Morrison. Morrison won the match on the four minute mark getting the pin after hitting the ‘Starship Pain’


Segment 8
Royal Rumble Qualifer
The Nexus (David Otunga, Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty) defeat The Hart Dynasty and Primo

In a six man tag team match, where by the winning team would get all three members into the royal rumble match, The Nexus picked up the win when The Hart Dynasty seemed to have their minds on other targets. Eight minutes into the match, the Hart Dynasty hit the ‘Hart Attack’ on David Otunga and tagged in Primo, but when the Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel tried to interrupt the match, the harts began to fight them outside the ring, leaving Primo with a three on one. Husky Harris getting the winning pin after the ‘running senton’.


Segment 9
Santino and Koslov meet the general manager

Santino Marella and Vladimir Koslov enter Kevin Nash’s office.

Santino – “Mr Nashes, me and my friend Vladimir Koslov would like to welcome you to Monday Night Raw, if you need any help with anything, we would be more than happy to help you. For examples, you might not be familiar with some of the superstars who were not around when you last worked here. Myself and Vladimir Koslov happen to be the best tag team on raw, but we have been overlooked by the anonymous general manager for shots at tag team gold.”

Nash – “I know exactly who you are, your not the best tag team on raw, and you hardly ever win your matches. Now I’m a busy man, so if we could cut to the chase about why you’re here I’d appreciate it”

Santino – “yes yes Mr Nashes, apologies for my friend Vladimir, he’s a compulsive chatter, he can ramble on for hours. We’re here because we would very much like to be considered for a match for the tag team champion”

Vladimir – “NO, WE WANT TO BE IN THE ROYAL RUMBLE”

Santino – “no, no, no, no, do not listen to Vladimir, he is Russian, he finds it hard to communicate what he wants, we want a shot against Heath Slaters and Justin…..”

Vladimir – “WE WANT TO BE IN THE ROYAL RUMBLE”

Nash – “I can only book you for one match, you’ve got ten seconds to decide, rumble or tag team titles”

Santino and Vladimir argue in fluent Italian and Russian for ten seconds

Santino – “After consulting with my friend Vladimir, we would like to be considered for the royal rumble match”

Nash – “Very well, next week I’ll book you two for a qualifying match, now if that’s all”

Nash points to the door, Santino leaves, Koslov puts his hands on Nash’s desk, gets into Nash’s face and says

Vladimir – “WE’RE TAKING OVER”

Vladimir smiles and leaves the general managers office, Nash seemed to find the funny side of Koslov


Main Event
John Cena vs Randy Orton – No Contest

In a raw main event that should be pay per view only match, Orton and Cena were not holding back anything, Orton fixated on gaining revenge on Cena for last weeks attack, Cena trying to end the match as quick as possible with a title match looming. But as Randy Orton had the upper hand and was poised to hit the RKO on the ten minute mark, The Nexus hit the ring and attacked both men, ending the match as a no contest. Wade Barrett hit ‘The Wasteland’ on both Orton and Cena as the Nexus ended the evening strong.

With the Nexus having destroyed three of Raw brightest talents, The Miz, John Cena and Randy Orton, Kevin Nash looks to have a difficult job on his hands trying to regain control of Raw from the powerful group.

Friday Night Smackdown -14th January 2011

Opening Segment
Teddy’s Top Eight

Smackdown kicks off with general manager Teddy Long coming to the ring, he has a mic:

Long – “Last week, I announced details about Royal Rumble entrants, eight of the best Smackdown Superstars have been hand selected by me for their impressive performances in the last 12 months, the other superstars will have to win their qualifying matches which take places in the next 2 weeks. Now, without further ado, it’s time to announce my top eight who automatically get entered in the Royal Rumble, in no particular order :

Number 1 – A previous Royal Rumble winner and a former World Champion, The master of the 619 – Rey Mysterio

Number 2 – The world strongest athlete and former World Champion – The Big Show

Number 3 – a man whos made a big impact in a short time here on Smackdown – Alberto Del Rio

Number 4 – The former Intercontinental Champion – Kofi Kingston

Number 5 – The former World Champion, the all American American - Jack Swagger

Number 6 – The current Intercontinental Champion – M.V.P.

Number 7 – four time winner of the tag team championship – ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes

Number 8 – former Intercontinental Champion – Drew McIntyre

And in tonight’s main event, we’re gunna have an eight man tag team match; Kofi, Rey, Show and MVP against Alberto, Cody, Drew and Swagger. I believe the winner of the 2011 Royal Rumble is in that group of eight men, so don’t let me down”

I AM PERFECTION

Dolph Ziggler walks down the ramp, grabs a microphone and gets in Teddy Longs face.

Ziggler – "are you serious, you pick the top eight superstars on Smackdown to go straight into the rumble, and I’m not mentioned. In fact with Edge and Kane fighting for the world title, that means I’m not in your top ten. Now because of the magnitude of this omission, I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and put this down to human error or illness on your part. So if you banged your head this morning and your feeling about foggy about who everyone is, let me remind you. My name is Dolph Ziggler, I am a former Intercontinental Champion, and in 2 weeks time I’m going to win the Royal Rumble. As for who you replace me with, allow me to give you a helping hand, I mean Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston, there not in my league…”

Long – “Playa, there’s no mistake, you were omitted from the top eight on purpose. I saw your last week, walking around backstage cocky as anything I’ve ever seen, boasting to other superstars that you were in my top eight, then getting in the face of the World Heavyweight champion Edge, telling him you were the next big thing. I’m not a fan of arrogance, especially when you can’t back it up with results in the ring. You’ve had a terrible month losing your Intercontinental title to MVP and losing to Edge last week, and it’s unfair to the other superstars not to make you qualify. So tonight, in your Royal Rumble qualifier, your gunna take on…..Chavo Guerrero, holla holla”

Dolph Ziggler walks to the back with Teddy Long, arguing with him about having to qualify as Matt Striker and Todd Grisham run through tonight’s scheduled matches plus the return of the Cutting Edge as the World Champion is granted an interview with Paul Bearer.

Segment 2
Royal Rumble Qualifier
Kaval defeats Luke Gallows

After four fruitless months after moving to Smackdown, Kaval finally got his first win after putting away a man twice his size in Luke Gallows. Initially Gallows got some offense in on Kaval in the first few minute of the match, put after some impressive counters and vicious kicks, the match swung in Kaval’s favour. On seven minutes, Kaval locked in the ‘Dragon Clutch’ and Gallows submitted seconds later; Kaval will now make his Royal Rumble debut in 3 weeks time.

Segment 3
Royal Rumble Qualifier
Tyler Reks defeats Curt Hawkins

Pure squash match, Reks defeated Hawkins in under a minute finishing the match with his ‘burning hammer’

Segment 4
Dolph’s on his own

An angry and irritated Dolph Ziggler is pacing back and forth backstage, Vickie Guerrero enters the shot and shakes her head.

Vickie – “Dolph I’ve talked to Teddy Long about reconsidering making you qualify, but he won’t move on his decision, your going to have to fight Chavo.”

Dolph – “This is just ludicrous, M.V.P, Jack Swagger, Rhodes, McIntyre get in straight away, but I have to qualify. This is unfair treatment by Teddy Long; he’s got it in for me. You know what, this needs to be brought to the attention of Vince McMahon, either Teddy Long has got a vendetta against me, or he’s losing his mind and needs replacing, Vickie, your ten times the general manager he is"

Vickie – “Well thank you Dolph”

Dolph – “As for tonight, I’m not going to let Teddy Long stand in my way of my dream of winning the Royal Rumble, so I’m going to beat Chavo Guerrero tonight and qualify. With you by my side Vickie, there’s no way I’ll lose"

Vickie – “Actually Dolph, I don’t think I can accompany you to the ring tonight, I mean your facing my nephew, I don’t think I can cheer you on against a member of the Guerrero family.”

Dolph – “Oh I get it Vickie, blood is thicker than water, that’s fine, you stay backstage I don’t need you ringside. I’ll beat Chavo without breaking into a sweat. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get ready for my match"

Ziggler leaves as the cameras close up on Vickie looking conflicted and hurt by Dolph’s words

Segment 5
LayCool defeat Kelly Kelly and Rosa Mendes

LayCool were dominant in this tag team divas match, with Michelle McCool getting the pin on Rosa Mendes on 5 minutes with the ‘FaithBreaker’

After the match Michelle McCool grabbed a mic:

McCool – “In case people haven’t heard, we’re defending our Divas Championship against AJ Lee at the Royal Rumble. And after Layla successfully defended the title at TLC against Melina, this time I’ll be the one defending the title against AJ. And AJ, we’re going to pay you a little visit next week on Raw where Layla is going to have a match against you to see if your championship material. But I doubt your in our league, you may have won season 3 of NXT, but we’re flawless.”

Segment 6
Royal Rumble Qualifer
Dolph Ziggler defeats Chavo Guerrero

Dolph Ziggler was clearly sending a message to Teddy Long in this match, taking his time to hurt Chavo to show his offensive qualities rather than get a quick pin. On the 6th minute, Chavo began a spirited fightback, landing a few dropkicks and successfully hitting the ‘three amigos’ suplexes on Ziggler. But when Chavo went for the Frog Splash, Ziggler rolled out of the way, waited for Chavo to get back to his feet, and nailed him with the ‘Zig Zag’, 1, 2, 3.

Ziggler refused the arm raise by the referee and walked to the back without celebrating.

Segment 7
The Cutting Edge with Paul Bearer

YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME

The World Champion Edge comes out to a great pop from the crowd; he enters the ring filled with the cutting edge set that we haven’t seen for a while, but there is one stool and one leather armchair. He takes a seat on a stool and talks to the crowd.

Edge – “Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m pleased to be bringing the Cutting Edge back to the WWE Universe, it’s always been an enjoyable part of my career, I like to give my opponents the opportunity to air their grievances with me. This interview was originally supposed to be with Kane, but he declined my kind offer, but I got the next best thing, his mentor and father, Paul Bearer, please give Paul a big hand folks"

Paul Bearer walks out to Kane’s music, Edge lifts the ropes for him to make it an easier entrance for him.

Edge – “Paul please take a seat”

Edge points to the leather armchair, Bearer sits down

Edge – “I got you that armchair especially for you Paul………….I didn’t think a man of your size would be comfortable on this high stool. Now obviously everybody wants me to talk about the world title match that’s happening at the Royal Rumble, but I can’t waste an interview with such a complex and interesting character on you without asking the question on everyone’s mind – what was Kane’s mother like?”

Bearer doesn’t say a word, just stares at Edge

Edge – “I only ask because you’re rather on the short side……..height wise that is, and Kane’s pretty tall. I’m not a doctor in genetics, but his mother must have been a very tall lady – perhaps she looked something like this”

The titontron shows an image of the woman from attack of the 50ft woman with a photoshopped version of Bearer standing beside her up to her ankles. The crowd like it, bearer doesn’t.

Bearer – “I’m amazed that the man who has the biggest fight of his career in a few weeks is in any position to make cheap jokes. You’re not the wisest Edge, because my son, the devils favourite demon, Kane can take your title away the easy way, or the painful way. I thought I’d agreed to do serious interview, I’m angered by your professionalism and Kane doesn’t like it when people make me upset.”

Edge – “OK, OK, just calm down there Paul, if you want a serious interview, that’s what will do. Tell me what are your thoughts regarding the World title match at the Royal Rumble”

Bearer – “My thoughts are that my son Kane will be crowned World Champion for the third time in his career, and there’s not a thing you can do to stop the big red machine. Edge – prepare to meet the instrument of your total destruction”

As Bearer finishes, Kane runs through the crowd and attacks Edge in the Ring. Edge tries to fight back, but Kane grabs him by the throat and chokeslams him. Kane throws Edge out of the ring, jumps out himself and starts to take apart the Spanish announcers table. Kane grabs Edge again and chokeslams him through the table. Kane and Paul Bearer marvel at their handywork as EMT’s arrive to Edge’s side, Kane begins to fight them off but security gets to Kane and tells Kane to leave as smackdown goes to a break.

Main Event
Rey Mysterio, Big Show, Kofi Kingston and MVP defeat Alberto Del Rio, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes and Jack Swagger

A fun main event to end this episode of Smackdown, with the face team of royal rumble hopefuls getting the better of the heels, who didn’t gel well as a team. Kofi started things off against Cody Rhodes, but Drew McIntyre tagged in after Cody hit a suplex and hit a suplex of his own on Kofi. This started a bit of conflict between Rhodes and McIntyre who continued to keep tagging themselves into the match, to prove they were the better wrestler. Swagger had seen enough of his team prating around and tagged himself in, going for the win, he locked in the ankle lock, but Kofi spun out of it and tagged in The Big Show. Swagger tried to keep the match on the ground using his amateur background, but Show was too strong and overpowered Swagger getting him into the corner and landing some punches and some splashes before tagging in MVP. MVP builds up some momentum with some running clotheslines and then a facebreaker knee smash followed by the ‘ballin elbow’, but only got a 2 count. Alberto tagged in at began to slow down MVP with a few kicks and german suplexes. On the ring apron however Cody and Drew were still arguing, the two superstars began exchanging punches outside the ring, leaving it 4 on 2 in the match. Alberto distracted by this had not realised that MVP had tagged in Big Show, and turned around into a KO punch by the world’s largest athlete. Mysterio begged for the tag in, Show agreed and Mysterio jumped onto the top rope and hit Del Rio with a diving splash for the three count.

Smackdown came off the air with the four faces celebrating in the ring, with security breaking up the fight between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre. But with Kane’s ambush attack on Edge earlier in the night, is the World Heavyweight Title match at the Royal Rumble now in doubt?

WE ARE ONE!!!

WWE Champion Wade Barrett leads his Nexus army to the ring, he grabs a mic:

Barrett – “Last week on Raw, We made our feelings pretty damn clear; interfere with the Nexus’ business at your peril. 2 weeks ago, The Miz ambushed me with with money in the bank briefcase, an action which he thought would improve his chances of successfully cashing in the MITB briefcase. He was proved wrong, because now he has made himself an enemy to the Nexus, and last week on Raw, The Miz was left in no condition to be cashing in title shots, Miz if you’re listening to this and I’m sure you will be, a kind word of warning from the Nexus. Try to cash in against me, and we’ll run you out of the WWE, the Nexus will destroy you and all that hard work you’ve put in over the last 5 years to make something of yourself in the wrestling industry. I’ve worked damn hard over the last year; winning NXT, forming the Nexus, dominating Monday Night Raw and winning the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. I’m not giving up this championship any time soon, currently the Nexus’ number one priority is to protect the WWE Champion and keep the title in the possession of the Nexus. And that brings us to my old friends John Cena and Randy Orton. I won this title from Orton last November, and I know how much he wants to take it back from me, and the best avenue for him to get a shot at this belt at the moment is to win the Royal Rumble and then pick me as his opponent at WrestleMania 27. Unfortunately for you Orton, David, Michael and Husky are also entered in the Royal Rumble, and eliminating you is their main objective. A nice icing on the cake for me would be if one of the Nexus wins the Royal Rumble, then I’ve got a pretty easy WrestleMania title defence haven’t I. Now on to more pressing matters and my upcoming title defence against John Cena in 2 weeks time, to ensure my success in the match, I will be joined ringside for the match, by the WWE Tag Team Champions, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel, tripling my chances of beating Cena at the Royal Rumble.”

NEW WORLD ORDER

Kevin Nash walks out in his General Manager suit. He walks in the ring, unfazed by the Nexus, and grabs a mic.

Nash – “You know if for some reason people missed last weeks Raw and tuned in tonight hearing you bark out all the orders Wade, they’d think you were named the new general manager last week. Well to stop the confusion, I thought I’d come out and let people know that I’m running the show here, not Nexus. You come out here, with your army behind you, and tell people not to get involved with your business or you’ll be an enemy to the Nexus. Guess what, last week you got involved in my business when you ended the first main event I made as GM, so now you and Nexus are an enemy to ME. I hold all the real power here on Raw, not you, so I’m going to make a few matches for tonight, in the hope that you come to respect the authority I have here on Raw. Firstly I’m afraid Gabriel and Slater might not be joining you in your title defence at the Royal Rumble Wade, because Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty will be taking on the Hart Dynasty in tag team action tonight, and if the Hart’s win, I’m giving them a shot at the Tag Team Titles at Royal Rumble. Next David Otunga is going to have handicap match with other Royal Rumble entrants in preparation for the rumble in 2 weeks. And finally in the main event, Wade Barrett will be teaming up with tag champions Gabriel and Slater to face the team of The Miz…….Randy Orton and John Cena. Wade I’ve been in bigger and better stables than the Nexus, and I’ve seen how they’ve self destruct, either step in line and improve the conduct of the Nexus, or mark my words, I’ll destroy the Nexus myself.

Segment 2
Royal Rumble Qualifier
Goldust defeats Ted DiBiase w/Maryse

In a seemingly never ending feud, Goldust and DiBiase locked horns once again, this time for a spot in the Royal Rumble. Ted had most of the offense in the match, but when he went for the Dream Street, Goldust broke out of the hold and hit the Final Cut for the pin.

Segment 3
John Morrison, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus and Ezekiel Jackson defeat David Otunga

Lengthy squash match here as all four opponents got some match time against Otunga. Jackson started of with some power moves, before Bryan tagged in and slowed the match down with some submissions and kicks. Sheamus tagged in to hit the Brogue Kick before tagging in John Morrison who got the winning pin after the Starship Pain.

After the match Sheamus attacked his 3 team mates, hitting the Brogue kick on Jackson first, taking the big man out, and then another to Morrison before finally hitting an over the top rope Celtic Cross on Bryan, sending the US champion to the floor. Sheamus will surely be one to watch at the Royal Rumble.

Segment 4
Ted buys his way in

Kevin Nash is taking a phone call in his office when Maryse walks in.

Nash – “let me call you back man, something just came up, Hey Maryse what can I do for you”

Ted DiBiase walks in

Nash – “Oh it’s you. What’d you want”

Ted – “Kevin, I want to be in the Royal Rumble match”

Nash – “Well you shouldn’t lost you qualifier, end of discussion”

Ted – “wait, wait, wait, Kevin I’ve heard that you have a reputation for making certain career choices if the price is right, so I was wondering how much a guaranteed spot in the Rumble would cost.”

Nash – “You want to buy your way into the rumble? that’s pretty desperate Ted. Well normally I would have said let me take Maryse out for the evening, and the spots yours, but Vince has instructed me to uphold a PG-TV conduct on Raw. So erm…..”

Nash grabs a piece of paper and writes down a number, he hands it to Ted.

Nash - “If you can afford that price, you’re in the rumble”

Ted looks at the piece of paper and smiles

Ted – “I’ll have the money in your account by next week, lets go Maryse.”

Nash blows Maryse a kiss as the million dollar couple leave his office.

Nash – “Damn, I should have offered him the number 30 spot. He’d have definitely let me take out Maryse for the number 30 spot.

Segment 5
AJ Lee defeats Layla w/Michelle McCool

With a WWE Divas title defence coming up, Laycool visited Raw on a scouting mission, with Layla taking on AJ in 1 on 1 action. In a back and forth match, Layla thought she had the match won with a snapmare and low dropkick combo, but as she took her time taunting her opponent, AJ got a quick roll up to win the match.

After the match, Michelle McCool entered the ring and began a 2 on 1 beatdown of AJ, until Natalya came out to make the save. Michelle McCool should be wary of the threat AJ poses come Royal Rumble.

Segment 6
Royal Rumble Qualifier
Santino Marella and Vladimir Koslov defeat R-Truth and Mark Henry

In a 1 fall match where the 2 members of the winning tag team would each get a spot in the Royal Rumble, the team of Santino and Koslov picked up the win when Koslov hit the Iron Curtain on R-Truth.

Segment 7
The makeshift team meet

The camera cuts to Randy Orton and John Cena talking backstage in the locker room.

Cena – “Listen Randy, I know you hate the Nexus as much as I do, and you’re probably not very keen on teaming up with me or The Miz tonight. I know we’ve had our problems in the past when you didn’t trust me going into Survivor Series as the special guest referee, and I can live with that. But I trust you to do the right thing tonight and we work together to make Wade Barrett pay”

Orton – “We’ve both got big matches coming up at the Royal Rumble, and the Nexus stand in our way of achieving our aims in 2 weeks. Normally I wouldn’t trust anybody, but against the Nexus, I’m happy to team up with someone who hates them as much as I do”

The Miz walks in

Miz – “That’s all very touching, but you seem to have forgotten me in all this. I think you’d be more than happy not to team with me tonight, well guess what, so would I. I despise you John Cena, you and your little CeNation of fans, when the Nexus made you their number one target, I couldn’t be happier, finally someone was going to make John Cena’s life a living hell. But then they came for me. Now I’m not going overboard about the Nexus like you are, to me they aren’t a threat that needs to be stopped for the good of the WWE. But Wade Barrett is the WWE Champion, and I’ll team with any losers like you John if it means there’s a chance to weaken Wade Barrett and improve my chances of becoming WWE Champion. Oh and Randy, with regards to winning the Royal Rumble, if I were you, I’d settle for runner up, because I’m in the rumble, and I’ll be the one headlining wrestlemania, I can promise you that. See you in the ring”

The Miz walks out of the locker room.

Randy – “He needs teaching a lesson”

Cena – “yeah, but not tonight, save him for the Rumble, we need to focus on the Nexus”

Segment 8
The Hart Dynasty defeat Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty

Good ten minute match here between the Hart Dynasty and the Nexus with the Harts coming up with the win that gives them a tag team title shot at the Royal Rumble. The conclusion of the match saw Smith and McGillicutty in action with Smith hitting a brainbuster and tagging in Kidd, Hart Attack to McGillicutty, Harris tried to break the pin, but Smith hit a spinebuster before he could break up the 3 count. It was proving to be a fruitless edition of Raw for the Nexus.

Main Event
Randy Orton, John Cena and The Miz defeat Wade Barrett, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel

The main talking point going into the main event of Raw was whether The Miz would cooperate with a man he despises, John Cena, and although he went through the match with a reluctant attitude, it was clear he wanted revenge on the Nexus more than bickering with Cena. The Nexus were on the backfoot until the fourth minute when Orton was very dominant over Heath Slater, but he got a quick tag to Barrett who went on to dictate the flow of the match with quick tags keeping the Nexus men fresh. But as Gabriel went for a 450 splash, Orton dodged out of the way and tagged in Cena, who went on the attack of all three Nexus members, hitting them with backbreakers and clotheslines. Justin Gabriel got back to his feet, but was send packing with a Attitude Adjustment, cover for three, and Cena picked up the win for his team.

At the end of the match, Cena went outside the ring and rolled Barrett back into the ring, Orton stalking, RKO!!!. The Miz picks up Barrett and nails him with the Skull Crushing Finale, Cena back in the ring, picks up the fallen Barrett and delivers an Attitude Adjustment. Miz frantically runs to the outside and picks up a mic:

The Miz: “Riley get to the ring now, and bring the briefcase, hurry up!!!!”

The Miz gets back in the ring and continues beating down on Barrett, as Cena and Orton look on. Alex Riley runs down to the ring with the MITB briefcase and gives it Miz, The Miz explains to a nearby ref that he wants to cash in the briefcase, but as he turns around, he walks into an RKO by Orton, Riley starts arguing with Orton, RKO to Riley!!. Gabriel and Slater pull Barrett from the ring and head backstage as Orton poses over the fallen body of The Miz.

Raw proved to be a terrible night for the Nexus, with all 6 members of the group losing their matches and Gabriel and Slater now have to defend their tag titles against the Hart Dynasty. But it still could have been worse for the Nexus when The Miz decided to cash in his title shot against an obviously weakened WWE Champion, but Randy Orton stopped the match from taking place when he RKO’d The Miz in the finale of Raw. Next week on Raw it’s the ‘go home’ show before the Royal Rumble, and The Miz will certainly be after Randy Orton’s guts.

-I'm loving the promos here. Makes it actually sound like it's what the real deal superstars would say. Interested on how Nash "destroys" Nexus, that's something to look forward to.

-Liking this Royal Rumble hype, all superstars wanting to be considered for the match itself. Builds up well for the match itself and gives it prestige, seeing as superstars want to go for it.

-I'm expecting a Miz/Orton match up looking at the ending of the show. Maybe a match for a briefcase and Cena going after Barret? I dunno but I'll be looking forward to that.

Solid show you've got here. I'll be definitely here to review Royal Rumble.

Cheers for the comments mate, Miz and Orton will be feuding in the future and I wanted to give the RR match itself a good build up so it's harder to predict a winner, sometimes with the WWE if you try to predict a winner, you can eliminate 25 men from the match straight away as they've had no build whatsoever

A big challenge for Kane

FIRE PYRO!!

The Number 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, Kane starts Smackdown off by coming to the ring with Paul Bearer. Footage from last weeks attack on Edge is shown where Kane chokeslammed the World Champion through the announcers table. Matt Striker on commentary informs us that Edge has been given the night off to ensure that he is healed from his injuries in time for the Royal Rumble. Kane has a mic:

Kane – “Last week I destroyed your World Heavyweight champion. Edge was granted a rare one on one interview with my father Paul Bearer, and he disrespected and insulted the great man. I couldn’t stand to hear his pathetic excuses for jokes any longer, so I came out to shut Edge’s mouth. I know Edge is sitting at home to night, recovering from his injuries and he’ll be watching Smackdown tonight. My message to you Edge is, this is only the beginning, because at the Royal Rumble I will unleash hell upon you and I will take back MY World title".

WELL, WELL IT’S THE BIG SHOW!!

The world’s strongest athlete, The Big Show, appears on top of the smackdown ramp. He has a mic:

Show – “Kane, if you want to prove your strength and your title credentials, ambush attacks on superstars is not the way to do it. If you want to attack people and chokeslam them through tables, well just try doing it to me. I’ve talked to Teddy Long tonight, and he’s agreed to book a match tonight, me against you Kane tonight. You want to injury Edge before the Royal Rumble, well Kane tonight I intend to send you to the Royal Rumble injured”

Segment 2
Alberto Del Rio defeats Kofi Kingston

In one of many matches between Royal Rumble entrants, it was the arrogant aristocrat who got the better of Kofi Kingston, making the Ghanaian tap out to the rolling cross armbar. Great opening match.

Segment 3
Royal Rumble Qualifier
Chris Masters defeats Vance Archer

Terrible match between two superstars low down on the smackdown mid-card. But it was the ‘Masterpiece’ who picked up the win on the 4th minute when he locked in the masterlock and made Archer tap out.

Segment 4
Who’s Teddy on the phone to?

Camera cuts to Teddy Long talking on his cell phone:

Teddy – “Listen players, you’re two of the best free agents in the game today, and I want you here on Smackdown. One of my aims for 2011 is to redevelop the tag team division on Smackdown, and I think you two have what it takes to be the next Tag Team Champions. Now I’ve got one year contracts to offer y’all, but to sweeten the deal, I’ll both offer you spots in the Royal Rumble match, get back to me next week with your decision boys”

Segment 5
Royal Rumble Qualifier
J.T.G. defeats Finlay

Big win for JTG, who’s speed advantage over Finlay was key to his victory, JTG picked up the win after 5 minutes with ‘Da Shout Out’ . JTG win earns his spot in the Royal Rumble.

Segment 6
The Big Show defeats Kane via DQ

In a pretty lethargic match between the two heavyweights, the strength and endurance of The Big Show became too much for Kane to overcome in a legal matchup. Kane got a few near falls early on in the match, but when Kane went to the top rope to hit his diving clothesline, The Big Show landed him with the KO Punch. Kane rolled out to the floor where Paul Bearer was seen going over to Kane and instructing him to end the match. With that, Kane entered the ring with a steel chair, and landed it right between Big Show’s eyes, giving the referee no choice but to disqualify Kane.

After the match, Kane continued to hit Big Show viciously with chair shots as Paul Bearer looked on with delight. Kane will look to bring the same aggression to Edge in their title match at the Royal Rumble

Segment 7
Cody Rhodes talks about ‘The Dashing Ones’

Josh Matthews is in the back ready to interview ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes

Josh – “Please welcome my guest at this time, ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes. Now Cody, Teddy Long has placed you in a match tonight against your former tag team partner Drew McIntyre after the two of you, on the same team in last weeks main event, began fighting. Your thoughts on the upcoming match”

Cody – “Drew McIntyre has a lot of issues, but his main issue is jealousy. It was jealousy that broke up the Dashing One’s after a few successful months of teaming together. And who can blame Drew for being jealous, he’s only human, he couldn’t help but feel inferior in every sense when he had to stand side by side with me, ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes. We won the tag team titles, and while it’s always great to hold some gold, we both wanted to make it on our own, so we mutually ended our tag team relationship. Well it seems to have hit Drew harder than me, because last week when we were booked to team together, he couldn’t care less about the match, he just wanted to try to prove his worth against me, but he crossed the line. Drew instead of appreciating the good times we had when I carried him to tag team success, has become bitter and resentful towards me, and he obviously sees me as a big threat in the Royal Rumble. I’m more than happy to wrestle against Drew tonight, just in the hope that when I beat Drew tonight, Drew can accept that he isn’t in the same league as me, ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes, and I can get back to focusing on winning the Royal Rumble.”

Segment 8
‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes defeats Drew McIntyre

Solid match between the two former tag team partners, who both showed a lot of aggression in 14 minutes of action. Drew started the match on the front foot, really hitting Cody hard with big boots, snap suplexes, and whenever Cody was grounded, Drew would pummel him with a combination of punches on knees to the head. The turning point in the match occurred when Drew irish whipped Cody into the turnbuckle, but Cody bounced off and hit the ‘beautiful disaster’. Cody hit a couple of dropkicks and knee drops before climbing to the top rope and attempting a crossbody, but Drew countered it into a pin for 2. At the end of the match, Drew hit a big boot on Cody and signalled for the Future Shock DDT, but when he got Cody in the headlock, he reversed it into the Cross Rhodes to pick up the win.

Main Event
Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger defeat Rey Mysterio and M.V.P.

In a fun main event that pitted 4 Royal Rumble entrants against each other, the heel team got the better of Rey and MVP. Ziggler would start the match off against M.V.P, who would have 3 minutes of back and forth action, before Ziggler tagged in Swagger who would slow MVP down with his array of suplexes. Swagger went for the Ankle lock, but MVP rolled out of it to tag in the fan favourite Rey Mysterio. Mysterio flew around the ring for a good two minute using his high flying moves, he set Swagger up for the 619, hits it, but when Rey jumped onto the top rope, Ziggler shook the ropes sending Rey crashing to the mat. Both men took time to get to their feet, but when they did, Rey tried to hit a hurricanrana, Swagger took a hold of Mysterios waist and hit the powerbomb. Swagger then locked in the anklelock, and Rey tapped out ten seconds later.

Swagger keeps hold of the anklelock after the match ends, not letting go until MVP broke it up. Swagger and Ziggler celebrate as Rey sells an ankle injury, could Mysterio’s Royal Rumble chances now be in jeopardy, find out next week on Friday Night Smackdown.
