Kurt Angle vs Chris Jericho- Submissions Match
The return of Kurt Angle at the Royal Rumble suprised many, but it suprised Chris Jericho even more when Angle eliminated him. The next night on RAW, jericho cost Angle the chance to win the no.1 contender's spot to challenge Orton for the WWE Championship, leading Angle to call out Jericho the following weeks, who repeatedly ducked this challenge, untill Shane McMahon booked them in a match at No Way Out, wehere Jericho stole the win by pinning Angle using the ropes. Infuriated, Angle demanded a rematch for Wrestlemania, which Jericho smugly and flat out refused, untill again WWE Commisioner Shane McMahon interseded, giving Angle a chance if he could defeat a hand-picked opponent of Jericho's choosing. This turned out to be The Big Red Monster Kane, however Jericho would seal his own grave, when his attempted interference cost Kane the DQ (and leading Jericho to be Chokeslammed for his troubles). After a blindsided attack by Jericho, that lead to Angle pasisng out in the Walls when Jericho refused to break the hold, Shane O'Mac booked the match at Wrestlemania to be a Submissions Match.
Batista vs Kevin Nash- Falls Count Anywhere
The war between DX and the NWO rose to new heights ove rthe past few months, with members trading victories over each side, and several bloody confrontations. Shawn Michaels, in his reformation of the NWO, recruited NWO Original and new apprant best friend, Kevin Nash, to act as a talent scout for the Order. Nash attempte dto recruit in Batista, who after weeks of toying with them, joined instead DX at No Way Out, Spearing Nash as his answer. Nash returned to training and fitness, after in revenge challenging Batista to a Falls Count Anywhere match at Wrestlemania, which the Animal accepted, and in proving his point, defeated the Big Show in the same kind of match the SD before Wrestlemania.
Intercontinental Championship- 6 man Battle Royal
Rey Mysterio has endured a tough time as IC champion, defending against the likes of Kane, Shelton Benjamin, Big Show and the recently returned Mr Kennedy, as well as unifying the Intercontinental belt with the Untied States Championship. For Wrestlemania 26, Shane O'Mac booked a 6-man elimination Battle Royal for the Ic title, announcing The Big Show, Mr Kennedy, Booker T, CM Punk and a mystery challenger, plus Rey Mysterio as the participents. The mystery challenger was revealed to be Rob Van Dam when he emerged as Rey Mysterio's suprise tag team partner against The Dudleys.
European Championship Tournament Finals- DH Smith vs William Regal
With the announcement of the return of the European gold, DH smith vowed to win the belt that his father debuted. He seemed to prove this, defetaing the likes of R-Truth and Snitsky to advance to the finals. A confrontation with the other finalist, William Regal (who defeated Chavo Guerrero and Christian to advance) added fuel to the fire, as Regal declared himself the only true English wrestler, running down the legendary Bulldog, before slapping DH Smith to emphasise the point. No doubt these two will enjoy an physical battle at Wrestlemania.
WWE Tag Team Championship- The Legacy vs Edge and Christian
At No Way Out, Edge failed in his quest to defeat the Undertaker and win the World Heavyweight Championship. After this on the next RAW, he was gloated at by his former partner Randy Orton and Legacy, who even added the point of Edge's 'failures' by costing hima a place in the MITB match. Incensed, Edge challenged Orton for his gold, and then Legacy for their tag team gold, the latter accepting, if he could find a partner. However, they gave him the answer, when they helped fellow Legacy member DH Smith beat Christian in the European Championship tournament, who then was saved from a double team beat down by Edge. Shane O'Mac announced at Wrestlemania, Edge and Christian would challenge for the tag team gold after they reunited and defeated the Hardys.
MVP vs John Cena
At the Height of his career, John Cena was loved by all. However, his over-exposure and hype lead to cords of disent amongst the fans. Whilst Cena kept his head in his upbeat morals of 'Hustle, Loyalty, Respect' and keeping his image clean, eventually he snapped, espcially as MVP, a man with a well-documented murky past but who had reformed his life, was emerging in the spotlight. At first forging an alliance with him, Cena completed his heel turn, attacking MVP in a match with the Legacy. MVP retaliated several times, even eliminating Cena at the Rumble, leading to a match at No Way Out, which MVP also got the suprise clean win over Cena, much to the latter's chagrin at losing to a 'criminal,' who then also vowe dto break MVP and 'bring him to justice.' Cena resorte dto attacking MVP from behind, and even appearing at MVP's old neighbourhood and mocking and attacking his old friends and family, leaidng MVP accepting Cena's challenge to a rematch at Wrestlemania, vowing to give 'Vanilla Ice' a lesson from teh streets.
NWO vs DX- Shawn Michaels vs Triple H
Triple H and Shawn Michael's friendship has been well documented, spanning over 20 years of tests and triumphs. Locked in an epic and deeply personal feud with Orton, Triple H found himself in a handicapp situation against Legacy, and turned to Michaels, who gladly accepted to come back and help. Together they defeated Legacy, and shortly after, Triple H put his feud with Orton to rest in a brutal Hell in a Cell Match. Shortly after, Michaels needed a favour from Triple H when Legacy targeted him for his part, but Triple H failed to back up HBK in time, Legacy leavig HBK bloodied in the ring. HBK seemed to put this aisde, as he focused on defeating the Undertaker to make up for Wrestlemania, even getting Triple H to be teh special referee for the rematch at Survivor Series for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, in this match at the finish, Taker locked Michaels in the Hell's Gate, and though Michaels didnt tap out, he passed out and Triple H, out of concern for his friend, called for the bell, giving Taker the win. Michaels took this at great personal insult, claiming his was 'screwed' by Triple H, echoing Montreal. In an effort to win back HBK, Triple H offerd to reform DX with HBK, who seemed to agree, but at the unveiling, HBK brutally attacked Triple H with a chair and Sweet Chin Music, and announced he had reformed another group- the NWO. This lead to several encounters, whrere Nash and Scott Hall came back, though Hall didnt last long when he was booted out off the NWO for losing to Triple H. Triple H brought back X-Pac, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn and Chyna , as HBK and Nash recruited Big Show and Drew Mcintyre to their ranks, an dthe lines were drawn. A match at Wrestlemania had already been agreed, when Batista rejected the NWO to join his former mentor Triple H at DX, so in revenge, Shawn Michaels vowed to strike back. In prehaps the biggets shock move ever, Ric Flair turne don triple H and DX (who were trying to get him out of retirement) and betraye dthem to an NWO ambush an beat down, before offcially joining NWO and announcing he would be in HBK's corner and Wrestlemania. To add intensity to the match, Chairman Vince McMahon announced the loser of this match would be suspended till Backlash, and the winner would challenge the Undisputed WWE Champion at Backlash too.
WWE-World Heavyweight Championship Unification Match- Randy Orton vs The Undertaker
After his feud with Triple H, in which during, Orton was able to take the WWE Championship, Orton focused on other aspects of sore points in his career, targeting Batista and Ric Flair. Upon retaining his title at No Way Out in the Elimination Chamber against Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, Big Show and Kane, Orton declared the final piece of his past was the Undertaker, and avenging his defeat 5 years ago, even offering to tsake his WWE Championship against the Undertaker's WHC and streak. With the announcement of the end of teh Brand divide, Vince McMahon booke dthe Unification match as the first match of WM26. In a one on one match, to defy all the critics who state dOrton couldnt beat Taker fairly, Orton won by Punting Taker in th ehead and pinning him, though Taker sat up soon after the match, shocking Orton, who semeed ta think he had put Taker away before Wrestlemania. At the final SD, Taker and Edge and Christian defeated the Legacy after Orton bailed on his team after Taker targeted him, no doubt saving himself for their Wrestlemania rematch, and teh dawning of a new age in the WWE.
