Jim Cornett was released from TNA Wrestling some time ago, and when this happened he was initially on board with ROH. When the opportunity, however, arose for Him to be the lead booker for a new promotion, Cornett quickly began to think things through.
Despite his differences with Paul Heyman as well as Eric Bischoff, apparently Cornett feels that the one place where Heyman failed, and the biggest place of Bischoff's success was a huge factor in both companies premises during the Monday Night Wars. With that said, he needed a major backer to feel confident in his product. That is when John Layfield stepped in.
Layfield hadn't been involved in wrestling in almost a year, but still felt as though he could contribute something to it. Layfield's interest in a project grew stronger when it was made aware to him that Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam and Booker T, three huge stars, were all on the free market.
Layfield Enterprises quickly reacted in webbing off into a wrestling promotion project called Fighting Spirit Pro Wrestling, when he signed to seasoned veterans along with some strapping young lads with a lot of potential. It was then announced that the first show would be a Pay-Per-View by the name of Where It All Begins on November 1st.
