It all started during a meaningless twenty second segment on WWE's Monday Night RAW. Paul Heyman had seen bad angles and bad booking and some of the most offensive gimmicks and controversial moments, but this was just insulting his intelligence. Of course, this was nothing new. Wrestling had become so dreadful that it was a weekly colonoscopy as far as he was concerned. This was beyond painful to watch and he had simply had enough. When he left professional wrestling, he thought he had left it in good hands but that clearly wasn't the case. Unlike Barnum & Bailey, WWE was the most boring show on earth and he felt like sad clown after every show. TNA was just a debacle and embarrassing to watch both as a professional wrestling fan, as a human being, and as a multicellular organism. ROH had fired one of the few men he trusted in the wrestling business and was now being run by a man who thought people still gave a shit about Jerry Lynn while a complete donkey went around shouting "slap the porpoise". He cared too much for the sport, the art, and the spectacle to see it die a slow, painful death. He knew that there were others like him out there---Marks, smarks, columnists, bookers, and wrestlers alike! What was so difficult about putting on a pro wrestling show where as a viewer, you didn't have to hide your face in your hands in embarrassment?
Well, apparently it was very difficult, especially in these economic times. With so few wrestlers out there, Paul's attempts to quietly gather talent to start a promotion proved difficult. He was perhaps best known for turning unknown wrestlers into superstars, but how could he do that when there was no money out there to pay them? Well at the 2010 Royal Rumble, little did Paul Heyman know that noneotherthan Randy Orton would save the day. Orton was fired from WWE the day following the Royal Rumble, with the company citing no specific reasons other than "he had struck out a long time ago and was long overdue." However, many believed that there was a huge fight backstage between Orton and Triple H. The two most common reasons for the alleged fights are that Triple H refused to lose to Orton at Wrestlemania, and the other being that Randy Orton slept with Triple H's wife Stephanie McMahon. While the latter would seem unrealistic, if not completely unbelievable, some reputable sources reporting makes the story possible. Until a WWE representative denies the allegations (which none have), then the story is certainly possible. Though with even more insane stories circulating through the interwebs, who knows what truly happened.
Nonetheless, Orton took a brief hiatus before signing with New Japan Pro Wrestling a little more than a month later. After competing for the company for around six months, Orton was suspended without pay by New Japan after disgracing the promotion when he punted All Japan Pro Wrestling legend Keiji Mutoh, knocking him into a coma and into retirement. Orton was granted permission to wrestle for other companies, which still boggles the minds of critics and fans. Why keep him around? Why not just fire his ass? Well apparently they felt if he could just fix his issues and get his act together, he could be one of the best gaijin Japan ever saw. Orton wrestled with rival promotion NOAH (a promotion he had helped fight during a brief spat between them and New Japan), but NOAH stopped booking Randy after only two shows, with one wrestler anonymously stating that Randy Orton was a locker room cancer. DDT (Dramatic Dream Team) and Dragon Gate didn't want him, feeling that he didn't fit their style nor were they exactly happy with how they treated a legend like Keiji Mutoh. He resorted to competing for BJW, where he earned scars in deathmatch feuds with Yuko Miyamoto and Takashi Sasaki, before having a pure wrestling-based feud with Daisuke Sekimoto. Eventually they had to release him too, though they explained that it was because they couldn't afford him, not because he had a backstage incident. Some wondered why he didn't just go to TNA, who were throwing him truckloads of cash. Before leaving for New Japan, Randy made a statement at a collaboration show his father was running back in Missouri that he would never sign with TNA. "TNA is a complete and utter joke."
Meanwhile, Paul Heyman was trying to broker out a deal with New Japan to buy out Randy Orton's contract, feeling that Orton still had a lot of "heat" to him as it was and that people would buy a ticket to see what he would do next. New Japan was skeptical and wondered why he would even risk the chance, but Heyman said: "Listen, I dealt with a bunch of drug addicts, rejects, and nobodies and turned them into superstars. You think I can't handle Randy Orton?" New Japan was more interested in what he had planned overall, not just Randy Orton. Heyman said that he had already gotten commitments to his soon-to-be company from recently-released Evan Bourne, Samoa Joe, Alex Shelley, Shelton Benjamin, Chris Sabin, and Homicide. He then mentioned up-and-comers such as Shikari Kazimir, Kyle Korvo, Jack Spradlin, Lonestar, and Brandon Banks. Two names jumped out at New Japan: Samoa Joe and Lonestar. They had been trying to book Lonestar in a match against Hiroshi Tanahashi for months now after Lonestar's successful tour last year. Samoa Joe? Nothing more need be said.
After all his business-related mistakes with ECW, Heyman had a lot of time to read up on business when he entered semi-retirement. He realized he was going to need leverage to get this deal done. He offered New Japan a Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Lonestar match on their very first show. While New Japan wanted that match to be in Japan, they were satisfied with that and worked out a deal with Heyman. Though Samoa Joe, Lonestar, and everyone else aside: New Japan was seeking two things: 1)... A way for Hiroshi Tanahashi to become a star in the United States (they didn't exactly appreciate Hiroshi Tanahashi being To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. nor TNA not using him at all) and 2)... To be rid of Randy Orton. They saw no improvement in Randy Orton's attitude whatsoever and he was costing them millions annually. They figured that funding a little company that would probably be dead in a couple of weeks would be worth it just to get Randy Orton off their backs.
It took Heyman another month to get more pieces set in place and call all the numbers a proper wrestling promoter should have in his phone book to get everything prepared. Setting up a full-fledged staff and championship committee, signing deals with venues to make them exclusive to HWS (some idiot from the championship committee named Anon came up with it. Heyman didn't care for it but everything else was taken. It was just a name, after all. It's what the name represents that matters), among many other things. By the end of February 2011, everything was set in place and all the stars were aligned. Heyman flipped open a page on his trusty notebook and began writing the first show: It All Begins.

Judging by how well written and creative the back story was your promotion is going to be great.
I think it'll be interesting to see how Orton is booked. Judging by the backstory it sounds very similar to the way Pillman was acting in the mid 90's before coming to ECW. (although it was a work.) It leaves me wondering if that was where you drew some inspiration from for the backstory.
Ah you're the first person I've shown this to to bring that up. Yeah I drew a little inspiration from Pillman's Loose Cannon shtick, but all in all it mostly came from my love of Randy Orton going around punting people, hehe. ^_^

Orton's punt is pretty badass. That segment with him punting McMahon back in Januaryish was one of the best segments in recent RAW history. Too bad it's gone down hill.....
I think it'll also be interesting to see whether Orton will be a heelish face who gets cheered for how badass he is (see Steve Austin), or a heel. If Orton is a face, I think Elijah Burke could definetely be his biggest rival as a heel. Burke has a ton of potential to be a headlining character.
Maybe a small suggestion would be to arrange your roster in the main post by heels, face, tweeners groups, etc so that everybody can have a general idea of where the wrestlers stand in order to avoid confusion. Maybe you want to wait until your first show to do that as to not spoil anything, but I still think it'd be a fair idea to implement.
Yeah the whole Orton thing has gotten pretty unwatchable at this point, but I think it would only take a few changes to turn it around. I'm hoping they can. Even though I'm harsh on companies like WWE and TNA I still want them to succeed.
Indeed, Elijah's going to be really utilized here in this BTB. I don't want to give too much away but Burke will be a major character. I was so pissed when he was released because I think he has so much potential. Yeah yeah, he's a little shoddy in the ring but that's something he could improve on. He had a certain presence to him that a lot of wrestlers don't have and he could more than carry himself on the mic. He'll be a major player here in HWS.
I thought about organizing them into Heels/Faces, but I figured since I was going to list their dispositions in the profiles (remember to click them everyone, because I used some real wrestlers when they're actually completely fictional, and the bios are pretty important) that there wouldn't be a point. If more people bring it up I might change it around, but for now I'm going to rest. The bios took a lot out of me xD.

While Orton is really vastly talented for what he can do.....Orton to me just sticks out like a sore thumb to all the rest and really Crest........Really?.....Lulz.....You had to get Soulja Boy in this thing? Did Soulja Boy tell you to add him in?

I can't stand Soulja Boy, so that's why I decided to use him as a character rep. He screams douche bag just from his appearance alone so right from the get go he fits with what I want to do with DMW.
I guess Orton sticks out like a sore thumb, but I think once you read a couple shows you're going to realize that it's not all just Randy Orton, Randy Orton, Randy Orton, even though the way I wrote the backstory makes it seem that way. Actually, for a few shows I have written, it's completely dominated by an angle involving my top CAWs. For the most part I think it's pretty balanced and hopefully I'll be able to convey everyone's importance and place on the card and make you interested to read the shows.
Curious: Does anyone have any proper pics (that I could use for roster images) of Speed of Sound from BJW/El Dorado?

I really like the backstory, very creative. Also the roster is pretty badass if you ask me. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this plays out over time. Very much so looking forward to your first show and whatnot. Can't wait to see more! Good luck To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

IT ALL BEGINS - Live from The New Yorker Hotel In New York City!
Brandon Banks vs Shikari Kazimir vs Jack Spradlin vs Kyle Korvo... Four newcomers to professional wrestling will get their chance in the main event of the first Heyman Wrestling Society show. Brandon Banks is a powerful, well-rounded wrestler from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and has some of the most wicked German Suplexes you'll ever see. We don't have much information on Shikari Kazimir, but he wields a deadly strike he calls The Backfist To The Future. The move has knocked out the likes of Orlando Jordan, Johnny Gargano, Shiima Xion, The Masterpiece Chris Masters, and several others. He also utilizes the Diablo Armbar, a takedown from the top rope right into a Jujigatame Armbar. It's an extremely risky move, but if he hits it you can expect the opponent to tap out real quick. Jack Spradlin has perfected the nasty Omega Driver and can lock in one brutal Ankle Lock. Spradlin is already extremely passionate about his new employer and in a text message sent to several wrestlers and management officials, he wants to start a new era of professional wrestling. He's going to need a big win if he wants to do that. And then there's Kyle Korvo, an insanely athletic wrestler out of Houston who trained under Booker T. His double stomps are cringe-worthy with his precision execution, but perhaps even more lethal in his moveset are the Korvo Stretch and the Telerana. He also has a Double Rotation Moonsault in his repertoire that he saves for really big matches and desperate occasions. If he wants to pick up a win here, he may have to pull it out.
This is a very big match. Not only will it crown HWS's first main event victor, but it will also have major title implications. The winner of this match will face the IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi in Reading, Pennsylvania. While it won't be for his coveted title, it will still be a very big match regardless. Even being in the ring with Tanahashi will lead to new opportunities for these men and possibly future tours with New Japan. If they can actually pin the champ, then they may just have a title shot in their future. All in all though, this is a match the company is hoping to build its foundation upon. These four men want to deliver for HWS and take a step forward to being the face of the promotion.
IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) vs Lonestar... If it weren't for Paul Heyman booking this match, Heyman Wrestling Society may not exist. New Japan has been trying to get Lonestar in the ring with Hiroshi Tanahashi for over a year now, but the battle will happen in New York City in a packed New Yorker hotel with the entire world watching this match. Lonestar is the face of Lucha Libre and now everyone wants to see Lonestar in their ring. Heyman Wrestling Society is going to be one of the few places that you can see him. His athleticism hypnotizes and amazes people the world over, and now the crowd in the New York City will see him try to immortalize his name by capturing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. But not if Hiroshi Tanahashi has anything to say about it...
Elijah Burke vs Ivan Sokolov... Elijah Burke will make his return and it will be inside of an HWS ring! Burke had all of the potential in the world to be a major player in professional wrestling, but the opportunity slipped through the cracks and like many before him, his destiny of fame, glory, and championships was never realized. Ivan Sokolov, a brute from Russia that has perfected the Jawbreaker Lariat, is still trying to realize his own destiny of taking Russia to the top. He'll have to get past Elijah Burke to do that who is determined to make his name known once again.
Alex Shelley vs Chris Sabin... Since leaving TNA at the end of 2009, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have parted ways in attempts to prove themselves as singles competitors. They think they have what it takes to be stars in this business and we saw glimpses of that before the Murder City Machine Guns were ever formed. They feel that they just weren't ready back then, but since their time as a tag team and wrestling all over the world that they're ready to step up to the plate and be two of the top pro wrestlers in the world. Shelley and Sabin certainly have what it takes to be stars, but at this point, it's unclear who will be the better of the two. We'll see the boys from Detroit collide in New York!
Chiba Yokosuka vs Takeshi Morishima... Chiba Yokosuka's harsh treatment of his slave Delirious has lead him to feel the wrath of karma on several occasions, and this match against the monstrous Takeshi Morishima may be one of them. Chiba usually doesn't learn though. However, if he can upset the former GHC Heavyweight Champion then he could land himself some big matches higher in the card in the future.
Wraith vs Seamus Sinclair vs Johnny Evans... This is going to be the first match in HWS history and each of these three men want to be the company's first victor. Wraith and Johnny Evans are going to find themselves battling it out when the Zero Gravity division is built. While they have differing styles, both of them are incredibly explosive with their offense. Seamus Sinclair certainly won't find himself wrestling in the Zero Gravity Division anytime soon, but maybe he'll be able to use his menacing size to his advantage and pick up an easy win over a couple of midgets. While Seamus does an awful job of fighting Irish stereotyping, it's clear that he's a great professional wrestler and has what it takes to be at the top of the heavyweight division.
