Quote:
The first RAW after Wrestlemania, is very much an aftermath and very little actuallly really progress (took it as an oppurtunity to make a pilot)

Also...Backlash? The next ppv is In Your House: Unforgiven
My mistake regarding the PPV name, never the less that doesn't actually change my point that you did nothing to build up the PPV. Is it really a good thing that as a viewer I don't even know the name of your PPV that is what only 4 Raws or so away?

I don't see how you can use the excuse that RAW was the aftermath of Mania as a reason why you didn't build towards the next PPV since you didn't really seem to resolve anything that happened at Mania.

I just think that RAW being your weekly show should be used to create build up and interest towards your PPV because IRL that is what is being sold. At the very least it RAW should build into the next episode and intrigue the viewer enough so that they are set on tuning in the following week. (Especially considering your timeline is during the Monday Night Wars.)

I just didn't feel your show did that. I'm not trying to be overely negative but if you'd like I can easily reply with "Lol good show brah xoxoxo" instead of taking the time to constructively critisize.

After last week's executive decision to retire the Light heavyweight Title, it is clear that one superstar was annoyed by this decision Taka Michinoku currently the only man to ever hold the title under the WWF license. It has been confirmed that Taka and a mystery man will be looking for answer next week on RAW IS WAR, only wonder is who is this mystery man and what can both men expect considering Vince McMahon has never been a man known to make U-Turn decisions. Tune in next Monday to find out what occurs.

Re: WWF 1998

Before the normal RAW is WAR introduction, the show begins backstage with the opening shot beginning on none other than the current WWF Champion Steve Austin. As the camera zooms back slightly, it can be seen that Steve Austin isn't alone and is actually having a conversation with none other than Matt Hardy.

“So what exactly do you want?” - Steve Austin

“I just want to put all the cards down on the table, as you got to understand that there is only so much that one man can do.” - Matt Hardy

“Hold up. Who are you again?” - Steve Austin

“Its not about who I am, but rather of who I will be.” - Matt Hardy

And with that Matt turns around and walks off, leave Austin speechless and looking slightly confused.

“JR did you know that Vince Mahon doesn't give a shit about anyone other himself and his bank account.” - Jerry Lawler

“I wouldn't be surprised King. Why did you bring that up though?” - Jim Ross

“Well considering Taka Michinoku has been on a rant to all the Japanese wrestling columns, I doubt Vince will be pleased with him at all.” - Jerry Lawler

“You can't blame the former Light Heavyweight champion though.” - Jim Ross

“And the end of the day, don't cross the the boss.” - Jerry Lawler

Summary:
A opening match, but clearly nothing that you would ever write home about. It was more than clear that Vader was past his best, and the figure of a large man in the ring wasn't too popular with the fans. The fact that Al Snow was erratic was ever didn't help matters either although he must be credited for a number of diving leg drops he utilized to his own advantage. However, Vader finally looked to have an advantage and for the second time in two weeks Al Snow went straight for “the head” and rammed it into Vader's stomach getting himself disqualified.

Winner: Vader (via Disqualification)

Backstage DX members Road Dogg, Billy Gunn and Chyna are all in some sort of discussion.

“So what your saying is that he is out of action indefinitely?” - Billy Gunn

“That is what he told me earlier. Apparently he has slipped a disk in his back, and won't be able to compete for at least six months.” - Chyna

“So what you are saying is that Triple H is out of action?” - Road Dogg

“That is exactly what I am saying.” - Chyna

“So basically we have lost both Shawn and Hunter in the space of two weeks. So who is leading us forward now?” - Billy Gunn

“Don't worry Billy arrangement have already been made.” - Chyna

“What is that meant to mean?” - Billy Gunn

“All I know is someone is coming tonight, on behalf of Hunter to take hold of the reigns until he comes back.” - Chyna

“Who is it though?” - Road Dogg

“This is all I know. I guess you will have to find out the same time I do.” - Chyna

Chyna walks off, leaving the New Age Outlaws looking at each other.

“Did you just hear that King?” - Jim Ross

“Yes I did. Triple H is out of action. You got to wonder who is going to fill in for him.” - Jerry Lawler

“And the more important issue of what happens to European Championship.” - Jim Ross
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

“Hold on, it seems a fight has broken out backstage. Let go to our camera team to check it out.” - Jerry Lawler

The figures of both Terry Funk and Road Warrior Hawk can be seen throwing punch after punch at each other, but it isn't very long before Cactus Jack and Animal pull back their respective partners. Despite the fight coming to an abrupt end it is clear that all of this isn't over.

“I want you next week!” - Hawk

“Fine bring it on, I am not scared of you.” - Terry Funk

“I don't just mean you, you f*cking idiot! Road Warriors vs. Cactus Jack and Terry Funk.” - Hawk

“Prepare to get sent to hardcore hell, because we are going to make sure it is a no disqualification match.” -Terry Funk

“So we exchange Funk vs. Hawk, for a tag team no DQ match next week. I can deal with that.” - Jerry Lawler

No chance that's what you got.
Up against a machine too strong.
Greedy politicians buying souls from us are puppets

“Well for the second time in as many weeks, Vince McMahon is coming out. This should be most interesting.” - Jim Ross

Won't find their place in line.
Now, tie a string around your finger now, boy.
'Cause its just a matter of time.

“This is going to be more than interesting JR.” - Jerry Lawler

Vince finally reaches the ring, looking all to pleased with himself.

“Last week folks you saw the power that I hold, and the lengths I am willing to go to make the WWF the most successful company in sport's entertainment. Now regrettably last week Triple H injured his back in a match against Goldust. Due to the severity of the injury and the expected length of the injury Triple H has conceded that the title must be vacated and so as of next week we will have an eight man tournament, with four first round matches booked on next weeks card. Truth is that no ones wants a champion who isn't around to....” - Vince McMahon

Vince looks shocked as he finds himself being interrupted as some oriental style music starts playing over the PA system.

Out from the back walks none other than Taka Michinoku and another Japanese wrestler.

“Who is that JR? I don't recognise him.” - Jerry Lawler

“Oh my King, that is Japanese wrestler Tajiri. I am not sure if you remember but he had a few matches on RAW on last year.” - Jim Ross

As Taka and Tajiri stand on the mainstage, they turn around as none other than William Regal joins them.

“What is the damn meaning of this! No one interupts Vincent Kennedy McMahon.” - Vince McMahon

“On behalf of Taka Michinoku and Tajiri, I William Regal have been employed as their liaison. I would take this moment, that what I say is not my opinion but rather that of my employers. Basically Taka wants come compensation since the retirement of the Light Heavyweight Title.” - William Regal

Vince pauses a second, and then replies.

“Well I am fair man, so this is what I will do. Taka will be entered into this 8 man tournament for the European Championship, and to shake it up a bit so will his new oriental friend. And to throw yet another spanner into the works, instead of you William Regal getting your confirmed place the winner of your match against Goldust will gain entry. So just make you don't lose!” - Vince McMahon

Regal looks shocked, at what is being said.

“Rule one, don't mess with Mr. McMahon.” - Jerry Lawler

“And coming up next, Regal will be facing Goldust.” - Jim Ross

Summary:
William Regal was clearly nervous, at the fact that only moments earlier the match was turned into an entry into the tournament for the now vacant European Title. Despite the encouragement of Michinoku and Tajiri, it was clear that something was missing from Regal. Ultimately, his lack of focus cost of him as his Japanese allies end up distracting the referee as Goldust connected with a low blow to wrap up the win.

Winner: Goldust

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The camera cuts backstage once more, as WWF Champion Steve Austin is having words with Vince McMahon.

“So this is what you are saying, who I am facing at Unforgiven is either The Big Bossman or Ken Shamrock?” - Steve Austin

“Well what I actually, said was that you get to choose who you get to face at the pay per view from the competitors involved in tonight's main event so in essence your spot on.” - Vince McMahon

“This is unlike you Vince. Why you being so nice?” - Steve Austin

“You scratch me back, I scratch yours. And considering what you did to Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania in the way you did, setting him up with Tyson I have to commend you. You might not be my friend, but with a common enemy being DX you get this one time choice. Use it wisely.” - Vince McMahon

As Vince walks off, Austin turns around to see Jeff Hardy standing in front of him.

“Just remember Austin. There is only so much one man can do.” - Jeff Hardy

For the second time in one night, Stone Cold looks confused after an interaction with a member of the Hardy Clan.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

“I think it is time you got your priorities sorted out!” - Faarooq

“And what the yellow hell is that meant to mean?” - The Rock

“Well the last couple of weeks it is like your head is somewhere else, its almost as if we aren't the Nation of Domination but rather the Nation & The Rock.” - Faarooq

“He has a point.” - Mark Henry

“Don't get involved Mark!” - The Rock

“He can say what he wants. In the Nation we all have a voice. Have you forgotten that or something?” - The Godfather

“No.” - The Rock

It is clear there is some tension growing amongst the Nation, however current Faarooq is clear to calm it down slightly.

“Okay so we need three men to compete in a three man tag match tonight. Now I have already come to the idea that myself and the Godfather should feature. But who wants to be the third?” - Faarooq

There is a clear silence, and it was clear that they were expecting the Rock to nominate himself. However, no such action occurred.

“I will do, considering no one else is willing.” - Owen Hart

Summary:
The Nation of Domination looked the business, and were supported at ringside by the other two active members The Rock and Mark Henry. Edge and Christian and Jeff Jarret clearly weren't as fluid as the Nation. The match was good though, as both sides managed to pull off a number of combination team moves apart from Jeff Jarret who looked slightly lost in it all. A break through came, when Christian was thrown out of the ring only for Owen Hart and The Godfather to keep Edge out of the way. With just Jeff and Faarooq left actually in the ring, Jarret went for a DDT but was caught in bit air and hit with a Dominator, giving the Nation a victory.

Winner: Nation of Domination

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

As the camera cuts back to the ring, DX members New Age Outlaws and Chyna are standing in the ring with injured members Triple H and HBK absent. Chyna looks meaner than ever, with one thing out of place. No European Title hanging over her shoulder. Road Dogg takes the mike.

“Now as you all may know Degeneration-X lost Hunter last week due to back injury. However, we promise you that there is no way this is the end of DX. Now without either are two leader males, I think it is time that our new member and interim leader came and joined us. Because we are all dying to find out who Hunter has selected as his fill in whilst he is out injured.” - Road Dogg

Think you can tell us what to do?
Think you can tell us what to wear?
you think you better? (Yeaaaaah)
Well you better get ready to bow to the master

The silhouette of a figure can be seen stepping from the back, but the man doesn't come from the shadows as the music continues to play.

“Who the hell is it?” - Jerry Lawler

“I don't know, but I am sure we are about to find out.” - Jim Ross

SSSUCK IT!!!
Degenerate into something fool
I just got tired, of doin' what you told me to do
But that's the breaks boy (Yeaaaah)
That's the breaks little man

Out from the back step out X-Pac who has a smile on his face, as all three members of DX in the ring can't stop smiling and showing their excitement.

“WOW! Isn't he a member of the nWo on World's Crappiest Wrestling?” - Jerry Lawler

“Clearly not anymore, this is definitely going to be something worth watching.” - Jim Ross

X-Pac enters the ring, and embraces with his new team mates before being handed the microphone.

“Can't I first take this time to say three words. FUCK YOU HOGAN!” - X-Pac

The crowd mark out at that comment, a clear attack on the WCW.

“And maybe I can add another four words. FUCK YOU ERIC BITCHOFF!” - X-Pac

The crowd mark out again, but then again what were they expecting considering DX were talking.

“But now to some serious business. Hulk Hogan said I couldn't cut the mustard. You know what at the end of the day, I would rather return to the WWF with DX than be held hostage by Eric. The only time you should mention Mustard Hogan, is when you spreading Eric's cheeks and licking the mustard out of his arse. And you know what, I know that a few of my former compatriots in the New World Order would be more than happy to join my cause if they weren't being held hostage. If WCW wasn't corrupt with politics, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall would have joined DX with me tonight. Now as much as I would like that to happen, I very much doubt that the Outsiders will be able to escape Eric's grip anytime so you what. Fuck you Eric!” - X-Pac

The others DX members are clearly delighted with what is being said, and Billy Gunn leans over and whispers something in X-Pac's ear.

“Thank for that Billy. You see one thing or rather one person that Degeneration-X need to deal is Stone Cold. You may think you have taken out Shawn, and put the wool over our eyes by some how getting Tyson to side with you but I promise you it isn't over. We are coming for you, and if you don't like that then we just have two words for you....” - X-Pac

“SUCK IT!” - D-X

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Paul Bearer and Kane are sitting backstage, in a darkened room with Bearer looking as weird as ever. He justs looks at the camera, as Kane remains silent as ever.

“Undertaker...an old friend is coming to town. He wants a piece of you as well at Unforgiven.” - Paul Bearer

Bearer then begins to laugh like a maniac, before the short promo cuts out.

Summary:
Shamrock and Bossman must have known that one of them was going to be chosen by Austin as number one contender and so it was clear that they weren't putting their all into the match as they weren't sure if Austin would pick the winner or for an easier match the loser. However, once this transitional period was over both men got down to some serious fighting. So much so, that the fight went out of the ring and resulted in both men being counted out.

Winner: Neither (Double Count Out)

*GLASS SMASH*

Stone Cold comes marching out of the back, only to stop on the entrance ramp as he lifts up the WWF Title in the air, just showboating to the fans.

“Now I already made my decision, before I saw you two excuses in the ring tonight. And so I have decided that at Unforgiven for my WWF Championship I will face Big Bossman.” - Steve Austin

Bossman looks over joyed, whilst Shamrock looks dissapointed.

“This is major news. Austin vs. Bossman at Unforgiven.” - Jerry Lawler

Austin then smiles for a second, as he doesn't look as if he is finished.

“And Ken Shamrock!” - Steve Austin

“WOW! Austin has got balls. Two birds one stone I suppose.” - Jim Ross

Both men in the ring, just look at each other and Shamrock looks relieved but it is clear this is something that neither man was expecting.

Looking for way how I can improve this, and how I can make storylines more effective so feedback would be greeted before I embark on putting this into a long-term commitment

Re: WWF 1998

I like the writing style. It is very interesting, but very clear. I believe the storylines are quite good and quite exciting to read. In the long run I believe this could be a very good BTB and as of right now the promos, matches, flow of your show and booking of your show is very strong and good to read. Keep up the good work and I'll keep reading.

Re: WWF 1998

I like what you're doing here. Giving a new way for guys to debut is really interesting and I wonder how different things would be today had they came in differently.

Not a fan of all the swearing though. Hurts the realism.
