Obviously this one is a work in progress with a good few months still to go and a lot of potential for some great matches... ok maybe not but still. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Currently, I'll be the guy to state the obvious and say that Undertaker/Michaels was a simply amazing match. Definitely the best WWE match this year and in my opinion, one of the best ever. It was everything people expected and more.
Aside from that, two that spring to mind would be the Swagger/Christian match on ECW, which was a very impressive TV match and really helped get me into both guys, and the awesome Jericho/Rey match at The Bash, the pick of their matches this year, all of which have been of a high standard.
So until more come to mind, I'd say these are the top 3:
1. Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels - Wrestlemania 25
2. Chris Jericho vs Rey Mysterio - The Bash
3. Christian vs Jack Swagger - ECW

I think there's still room for great stuff this year to be honest. Regal/Christian has to happen, get Orton away from Trips and see what he can do, Michaels and Taker still to return, Jericho/Show team has potential if not wasted, Rey is still great, Punk's heel turn and coming into his own, etc
All of those picks would do well for me, and I think this year's RAW Elimination Chamber would too, I will have to rewatch the 2002 one but right now I'd say it was better than that.
I could see Taker/Michaels being a top 20 match, maybe top 10 in the end results.

The Chamber was good. I forgot about that match to be honest. I still don't think it would break into my top 3 but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cena's elimination was shocking, and obviously Rey's performance was brilliant.

Not calling you out or anything, but I'm surprised to see Jericho/Rey (as good as it was) over Taker/Michaels. Any reason?

I just think Taker/Michaels is extremely overrated. Many folks have given it 5*, but I would only give it about **** maybe ****1/4, myself. I didn't enjoy it that much and didn't find it that epic. Once it became just finisher after finisher, I started to lose interest.
Another reason (and I can't really hold this one against the match, tbh), is that I had no idea about the storyline leading up to this. So anything that happened during the match that was a reference to their feuding was lost on me.
Jericho/Rey was just very exciting from start to finish. I saw Smackdown the week before this, so this time I had some idea of what was going on between them, which got me a bit more interested. Jericho was a brilliant heel throughout and they had some fantastic crowd heat. Believable nearfalls and a great moment (the mask removal bluff) also helped to make this great. I'd give it ****1/4.

Fair enough. I agree with your rating for the Jericho/Rey match, I just really love Taker/Michaels. I can't really argue your points, just a question of taste I guess.
For me, Taker/Michaels is the definition of a 5* classic.

Look, I basically agree with what Tommy and Marketh nominated. They were the standouts so far. And I have a feeling people are going to nominate the same stuff over and over again. So, can I nominate two televised matches?

As it happens, I don't rate those matches very highly, but I know a lot of people do.
