Was '06 the year that Benoit returned from neck surgery... Or looking after his wife who'd just had neck surgery... Or they'd both had neck surgery... Or something? I'm certain that he faced Regal (or it could've been Finlay actually) in his first match back in a bonus match on PPV.

Rey Mysterio vs JBL - Judgement Day

Awful booking of Rey's reign aside, hella good match. Big vs small match done really well, Rey got in a lot more offence early than I imagind he would have from the booking. JBL was awesome here, all of his offence looks nasty on a dude Rey's size and his heeling was as good as ever with the way he taunted Rey's family who were in the first row. Rey distracting the ref before low-blowing JBL was a fun spot that you wouldn't really expect to see Rey do. JBL using the 3 amigos as a heel spot was also amusing but not in a Randy-Orton-ridiculously-offencive way. JBL counting with the ref as Rey gets up during a 10 count only to boot him down again was also pretty cool, you don't see that sort of thing often. Cole actually called JBL "a bastard" as he had a sleeper in one Rey, let his hand fall twice, then stopped short of the third time and went for the cover.

Didn't like the finish, but still a really awesome JBL performance. Dunno wether it'll make my ballot, but it would have a good shot at the tail end to make up the numbers. JBL may have 3 consecutive Judgement Day matches in my 100.

I've never seen that particular Rey vs JBL match.

I rewatched the hardcore match from Wrestlemania 22 today and it was indeed a bit better than I remembered, mainly because of some cool spots which were original, such as the barbed wire round Foley thing, and obviously the finish. Still don't know if I'd go as far as saying it was a GREAT match, but it was certainly very good considering it was fairly short and Foley was somewhat out of shape. They accomplished all they needed to in a short space of time, so fair play to both.

Watched One Night Stand earlier, well, 3 matches:

Sabu vs Rey Mysterio
This was obviously hugely enjoyable for what it was. Very good spotfest with a lot of fun moves and a "Holy Shit" finish. It's nowhere near listworthy though. Sabu on a list of the top 100 WWE matches this decade is a hilarious thought.

Edge/Foley/Lita vs Funk/Dreamer/Beulah
This is great. I loved the build to the match and it's just so fun to watch. It helps that Edge cuts such a good promo before the match. Edge's antics in this match reminded me how great he was and how great he could be if it wasn't for the PG Era, which really killed his character. Anyway, every man in the match is awesome here. Foley is obviously enjoyable in this sort of match, Edge's heel work is off the charts, and both Dreamer and Funk are excellent as the heroes standing up for ECW with the full support of the fans. I love the part when Funk comes back through the crowd after being carried out. A 60 year old man doing some of the things he did in this match is nothing short of ridiculous. Lots of good spots and brawling. Loved the barbed wire bump at the end, and the finish with Edge hitting the Edge-o-Matic with the barbed wire then hitting the spear on Beulah. The pin was HILARIOUS. Such epic heel work. Seems a million years ago that you could get away with this in WWE. This should make my list.

John Cena vs RVD
Obviously this is a classic example of the crowd making a Cena match great, but it was indeed great I'd say. You can't disregard things like crowd reaction because it's all part of what makes a match. This was always going to be great to see, and the fans throwing back Cena's shirt at the start was just a great image. I also loved the way Cena responded to the fans throughout the match, responding to a "YOU CAN'T WRESTLE" chant with a suplex (lol) and a "SAME OLD SHIT" chant with a double axe handle from the top rope to the outside. Nice brawling in the crowd and some good RVD spots. They told a very good story of Cena being in an unfamiliar, hostile environment but managing to survive by basically being badass, as shown by his refusal to break the hold when RVD reached the ropes in the STFU, and the attack of the referee. I've heard a lot of criticism about Edge costing Cena rather than RVD winning clean, but I think it worked. Not EPIC, but great (as in ****). Listworthy.

I agree with your Cena/RVD rating, though I haven't seen it in awhile. The other two are very good but probably not list worthy.

What about the New Breed/Originals Extreme Rules match from 07?

Yeah I liked it but it's easy to forget how good a match will have to be to make the list.

Well, you could dislike/not like as much a lot of other stuff that has already been mentioned and therefore put in simply because you rate it higher than other stuff...
