Oh ok I get you. I thought you were saying it didn't build up the Unforgiven match, which it clearly did because it made you wanna see Austin get beat that much more. I agree with you about the Unforgiven match not matching the quality of Summerslam, and that was a disappointment to an extent, but I still think it was a great match and a great moment with Angle winning the title, made that much better by the Summerslam finish.
I can easily see why somebody would hate that finish, but for me, the emotion of it was great. For Angle to come so close to winning the belt, to go through one hell of a beating and fight his way almost to the title, only to get screwed, was extremely emotional. It certainly dragged you in in my opinion.

I agree with you guys about Austin/Angle at Summerslam, one of my favorite matches ever. Austin's 2001 run was epic. I wish Benoit didnt get injured in 2001 because he was having an awesome year himself with the ladder match with Jericho, TLC, Cage and series of matches with Angle, Smackdown match with Austin. Excellent year for wrestling
a tie between these matches
Benoit vs Jericho (Ladder) the second best ladder match ever
The Two Man Tower Trip vs Benoit\Jericho the best tv match ive seen
3 Stages of hell- what a awesome match
TLC II- what an awesome spotfest
TLC III- Same as The TLC II
Match Rating Of All These Matches- ****3\4,All Of These Matches Are Definitivelly Top 15
Steve Austin vs Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit - WWF Title, King of the Ring 2001.
This wasn't as good as I thought. As is often the case with WWE triple threats, there wern't many occasions when all 3 men were in the ring. It was usually two guys fighting while another was down on the outside. I liked the angle going in with questions marks over the futures of Benoit and Jericho and whether they would defect to WCW if they won the belt. The double team on Austin at the start was fun, but mid match it became a pretty boring, run of the mill triple threat. I also thought that both challengers looked too weak at times, with Austin seemingly being able to take them both on single handedly and JR on commentary suggesting that they were double teaming him at the start due to the threat that he posed. Near the end, after Booker T's interference, things picked up somewhat, and there were a couple of really good nearfalls, in particular Jericho on Austin when it looked like he had won the title with a moonsault. I quite liked the idea of both men using their submission moves simultaneously with the match ordered to continue too. Obviously the finish brings it down but Benoit was injured and nothing else could have been done really. Just unfortunate.
I'd rate it around ***1/4-***1/2. Should have been better with those 3 guys in the match. I actually thought there was too much going on here and it took something away from the match itself. You had the whole Invasion angle about to kick off, with rumours of either Jericho or Benoit leaving for WCW with the belt, you had the whole Austin/McMahon drama with Austin preoccupied by McMahon's absence, you had the whole question of who would be Champion if Benoit and Jericho made Austin tap at the same time, the question of whether they'd double team him etc. I think it would have been better had they kept it simple.

Benoit vs Angle (Steel Cage Raw 11\6\01)- Great match from these 2 one of the best steel cage matches that the wwe has ever had they were able to combine ground work with crazy spots very nicely i also liked austin on comentary i also like the ending with austin screwing benoit. Match Rating- ****1\4, Definitivelly Top 100
Benoit vs Austin (Smackdown 31\5\01)- Great story in this match they were able to express their hatred for each other this had a very good benning with benoit going right to the crossface austin here was very over as a heel getting great reaction from the crowd , liked the time time were austin went for the sharpshooter and benoit reversed then austin reversed the benoit reversed, this match also had very good psychology with austin working the ribs of benoit and this match also had a screwjob ending that didnt took way from the match thumbs up for that. Match Rating- ****1\2, Definitivelly Top 50
Jericho vs Benoit (Royal Rumble)- In this match they did a great job of combining the ladder element of the match with the story that they were telling kinda what jericho and michaels did at no mercy only this match had more innovative spots, these 2 produce probably the best ic title match of this decade (along side with foley vs orton) this should tell something because there have been some great match for that belt in this decade.
Match Rating- ****3\4, Definitivelly Top 15
Jericho\Benoit vs HHH\Austin- Fantastic match, great story this was very fast paced there wasnt any long periods of each team dominating like normally in a wwe tag team match there wasnt any period that was boring or any of that sorta of stuff just great effort from these guys, this along side edge\rey vs angle\benoit are the best tag team matches that the wwe has ever produce Match Rating- ****3\4, Definitivelly Top 15
The Rock vs Austin (WM 17)- This doesnt hold up i remember enjoying more the first i saw it because now it just seems like a fist fest they still told a great story and austin turning heel still is a shocking moment but it was to much of a fist fight as they could have use other things instead Match Rating- ****1\2, Definitivelly Top 50
Austin vs HHH (No Way Out)- Awesome Brawl and Awesome story this is what a 3 stages of hell should be they did a great job of expressing their hatred this is what orton and hhh should have done in there 3 stages of hell match and also they didnt look sloopy like hbk and hhh did in there 3 stages of hell match what a way to end there feud Match Rating- ****3\4, Definitivelly Top 15
I think you're really overrating this. The match was mostly just the two spots, very little selling and Austin stealing the show. It's still a good match and one of the better ones in Raw history (Not saying much), but both men had several much better matches that year.

I wasn't going to respond but I wouldn't even call it "good". Pretty much a spotfest and constant suplexes with some awful selling from Angle. Jeff Hardy vs Umaga from last year had the exact same story and was a better in every way tenfold.

I seem to recall enjoying the first half before the two bumps. It's just that they put all of their focus in the big bumps in the second half of the match.

The match wasnt all two spots the first part of the match was very good and i think they did a pretty good job of bulding up the spots and there were 3 spots (the german of the top rope, the moonsault of the cage and the headbutt of the cage) i now the flaws are evident but i still enjoyed that match alot
