This is likely my favorite year. Even with the let down of the Invasion dragging it down it is still extremely strong and is also home to arguably the best WrestleMania of all time.
As previously stated, Benoit/Jericho VS The Power Trip is a multitude of epicness.
I'm surprised that none of Angle/Austin's PPV title matches are on this list. Aside from the finish the SummerSlam encounter was quite good.
Like most lists, I'll throw in some tidbits but I really have to watch/rewatch a lot of this stuff before I give a real beefy opinion. I'm far too cheap to buy DVDs, and didn't begin ordering (select) PPVs until 05. Because of that, a lot of these PPV matches have alluded me. Now that we are in the era of guilt free Youtube/Daily Motion and downloading I will take it upon myself to view some of this stuff.
Both get a lot of love, but I thought the Survivor Series match was the better one. Most of the eliminations were pretty shitty, but atleast you had a good finishing stretch between Austin and Rock.

Wasn't Big Show and Shane's eliminations pretty awesome with all of the Alliance doing finishers to take Show out then the WWF getting revenge by doing the same to the annoying Shane that kept ruining pins?

They were good, but some of the eliminations after that were terrible, like Kane getting taken out by a really weak looking kick from RVD.
@ Steve: Show's elimination worked because it was basically like 4 men that eliminated him.
The Invasion match was pretty forgettable. I only remember the table spots when it broke down at the end and everybody got taken out.

Need to rewatch the Benoit RR match because I'm pretty sure this is Angle's best match right now. Definately one of the best "big match" atmospheres the WWE have ever created. I really like the way Austin (a brawler) starts throwing Angle around with suplexes. Angle's goofy amatuer/suplex routine is a really cool contrast to Austin's brawler approach too. The first Stunner was really well done and didn't come off awkward or ridiculous because of how early it was done and it really set the pace for the next part of the match where Austin essentially beats the crap out of the down-and-out Angle. Austin looks like the best wrestler in the universe as he beats Angle to a bloody pulp. The spot where Angle randomly locked in the Ankle Lock on Austin on the outside out of nowhere and was yellling "tap you son of a bitch, tap" and WOOOing in a whiny voice whilest covered in blood was amazing. Looked like a dude complately out of his mind and delirious. The moonsault wasn't whored out at this point so here it felt like a really important move. Angle takes 3 Stunners and it doesn't feel overkill at all because of the pacing and the emotion and because Austin's reaction to the second kickout is epic. Angle getting to his feet and Austin, pissed the fuck off, just slapping him like a bitch was tremendous.
Screwjob finish is really choice, but I personally loved it and think it's the best screwjob finish I've ever seen. Austin comes out the most hated bastard on the planet and Angle comes out looking like a million bucks. Amazing match, really well paced, emotional war, top 10 at the very least.
Didn't care for RVD/Hardy ladder match, the hardcore match from InVasion was a lot better and deserves a rewatch.

I really need to rewatch that Austin/Angle match. I saw their Unforgiven one recently and thought it was pretty great, and I remember the Summerslam one being even better. Do you have it?

Yeah I'll up it tomorrow. And yeah it's better than the Unforgiven match. I recall their match from the 1/1 episode of RAW being great too, the one that had HHH's return.
