CWA Saddened By Death of Mario Ganzo cwawrestling.com, June 9, 2009
CHICAGO, Il. -- CWA is deeply saddened by the news that Mario Ganzo, age 72, has passed away. He was found dead yesterday morning in his home in Chicago. Mr. Ganzo is survived by his wife, Anna, his two sons and his daughter. No further details are known at this time.
Super Mario, a fan favorite during his days in the wrestling world, held many championships during his career, most notably becoming the first and only man to hold 3 different World Titles on 3 different Continents at the same time.
On September 1996, the former 18 times World Heavyweight Champion, was also inducted in the Wrestling Hall of Fame.
CWA extends its sympathies to the entire Ganzo family.
More on this later...

Do you have a reason not to give The Half Boy your vote for the Hall of Fame?
Roberto just posted a message on his official website "cwaroberto.com" regarding Ganzo's death.
Quote:
This morning I was notified of Super Mario Ganzo's death. It's a very sad day for all of us that knew him and loved him. He will be missed, but he'll be alive in our hearts and memories.
My condolences go out to his wife and kids, whom he loved very much.
Super Mario, thank you for giving me the skills to become a World Champion, but most importantly thank you for being a dear friend. I will never forget you.

CWA is saddened by the passing of one of wrestling’s most successful and revered stars, Hall of Famer "Super" Mario Ganzo. He was 72.
Ganzo began his career in sports-entertainment in 1957, and wrestled extensively throughout the world for 30 years.
A master technician, once the bell rang, Ganzo had a ruthless and relentless style that mentally helped him reel in victory after victory. He generally finished off his opponents with his signature Ganzo Bomb.
His prowess within the squared-circle ensured that his opponents be at the top of their games.
Ganzo competed in the now defunct WXW (World Xtreme Wrestling) rings during the 1960s and ’70s, and he and Hall of Famer Mammoth Mo garnered the World Tag Team Championship in 1967. After they broke up, they fought over the World Title for years, in what is considered the feud of the century. But, of even more renown, Super Mario will always be remembered for holding three World Titles in three different continents at the same time (In the States with WXW, in Japan with Formula 1 Wrestling, and in Europe with World All Star Wrestling). During his career he went on to win 18 World Titles, a record that still stands today.
During the latest 1970s, Ganzo trained a big, strapping individual, who was then known as Luigi Bartoli. In 1978, the teacher-student combination of Ganzo and Bartoli won the World Tag Team Championship from The Sentinels. Bartoli went on to be known as Beppe Enzo, father of current CWA Superstar Frankie Enzo.
After finishing a stellar career in 1988, the wrestling legend opened a school in his home, which later became better known as The Chamber, a place where individuals who wanted to pursue a mat career were taught everything and then some. To his credit, the most famous graduate of Ganzo’s school went on to become one of the premier performers in wrestling history, current CWA Superstar Roberto Superstars.
So, it was only fitting that in 1996 Ganzo was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame. He is arguably the greatest wrestler ever.
Survived by his wife Anna and his three children, Super Mario Ganzo was a kind gentleman who lived life to the fullest. But inside the ring, he was all business, and certainly one tough individual you did not want to mess with.
