To all the non-Monks people. My name is Tom. I'm the North American sports mod. I just thought I'd give you guys a little run-down of who I am.

I'm 26, I'm a born and raised New Yorker, and I work as an analyst for a financial research firm. I have a girlfriend that I will probably marry in a few years, who just moved to northern Cali (Oakland) for a job after graduating from Columbia University with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (I'm very proud of her). I am currently applying to grad school out in California, partly to be closer to her, partly becaus eI just want to get out of NY for a few years.

MY favorite sports teams are the New York Yankees, New York Giants, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, St. John's University basketball and University of Michigan football.

I listen to rap music almost exclusively, mostly stuff from the 1992-1996 time period. Some of my favorite artists include the Notorious B.I.G., The Roots, Jay-Z, old Eminem stuff, D-Block, Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Outkast, and old Wu-Tang Clan stuff.

The only TV I really watch are the HBO shows (Sopranos, Deadwood, Entourage), 24, and Lost. I'm a big movie person too.

I'm 6'2, 240 pounds. I used to be big into weightlifting, but then I met my girlfriend, realized I don't need to impress any other girls, and I stopped lifting and got a little fat. But whatever.

So, that's me in a nutshell. Looking forward to getting to know you guys.
