Mike Tenay and Scott Hudson are commentators for this edition of Saturday Night.
- Tenay welcomes everyone to tonight’s show and hypes up the show.
- Hudson goes over who will be in action. Which includes, Rick Steiner, Buff Bagwell, Jimmy Hart’s mystery man, Chris Benoit and Chris Kanyon.
- Tenay also mentions that Booker T and Scott Hall will have a confrontation tonight. Booker T has been very vocal about his displeasure about Hall continuing to have a job in WCW.
- Hudson sends it over to David Penzer.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Blitzkrieg in 8:25 to advance to the fatal four way match at Souled Out for the vacant WCW Cruiserweight Championship

- Chavo with a drop toe hold take down followed by a crisp dropkick to the side of Blitz’s head for a near fall.
- Chavo sends Blitz’s into the ropes and attempts a tilt a whirl backbreaker, but Blitz manages to reverses into a spinning head scissors which sends Chavo through the middle rope to the floor.
- Blitz comes off the ropes and connects with a suicide dive to the floor!
- Blitz sends Chavo back into the ring and connects with a slingshot leg drop which gets a near fall.
- Chavo manages to fight out of a brain buster attempt and delivers a reverse neck breaker. Chavo delivers several European upper cuts.
- Chavo attempts the tornado DDT out of the corner but Blitz reveres into a Northern Lights suplex with a bridge and nearly gets the win.
- Blitz leaps off the middle rope and nails Chavo with a spinning heel kick.
- Chavo pulls on Blitz’s trunks which rams him face first into the middle turnbuckle. Chavo pulls Blitz up and spikes him with the brain buster.
- Chavo goes to the top rope and connects with the frog splash for the win.
- After the match Chavo signals for the title coming around his waist.
- Replay of the win.

Gene is backstage with Scott Steiner who is flexing his arms.
- Gene puts over the acts of Steiner on Ric Flair on Thunder.
- Steiner tells Gene shut his mouth. Ric Flair knows what he has gotten himself into when he gets involved with the Big Bad Booty Daddy.
- He is going to prove to Flair and all the boys in the back that he is the man in WCW.
- Steiner says that the beginning the end of Flair’s career started on Thunder and come Souled Out he will out of WCW, courtesy of Scott Steiner.
- Steiner kisses his arm and makes Gene flinch as he heads out of camera view.

Rick Steiner defeated Lash LeRoux in 4:57 in a non-title match

- LeRoux delivers several rights and lefts but Steiner simply shoves LeRoux down.
- LeRoux charges but Steiner delivers a stiff clothesline. Steiner with a belly to belly suplex.
- Steiner with several forearm shots to LeRoux’s upper back. Release German suplex by Steiner.
- LeRoux is sent into the ropes and ducks a clothesline. LeRoux runs to the top rope but Steiner crotches him and connects with a over head belly to belly suplex.
- LeRoux stumbles to his feet and Steiner leaps off the top connecting with a bulldog for the win.
- Replay of the win.

Gene is backstage with Raven in a rather dark locker room
- Gene asks Raven what his issue is with Buff Bagwell.
- Raven brings up how he was fired last fall because WCW didn’t want someone they couldn’t market. H
- So, Raven would be sitting in his apartment with several eviction notices because since Bischoff didn’t want him, no one will be able to have him.
- Every time Raven would put on his television he would stumble across a master card commercial with Buff Bagwell.
- “He is by a pool, with the ladies, with a smile and with money, everything I don’t have.”
- Raven says that he came back to the WCW because A.) WCW wanted him back. And B.) because he wants to make Bagwell feel the pain and feel secluded like Raven.”
- Raven issues a challenge to Bagwell to a match at WCW Souled Out.
- Raven doesn’t want a referee, he doesn’t want any rules. He just wants it to be Raven and Buff Bagwell.
- Raven ends the interview segment by saying “Quote the Raven… Nevermore.”

Meng defeated Big Vito, Lane and Brian Adams in 6:02 in a preview match as along with their partners will compete for the vacant tag team titles on Nitro

- Meng and Adams pair up and trade several right hands in a corner. Lane with a slingshot cross body to the floor onto Vito.
- Meng with a few head butts which drops Adams to a knee. Meng comes off the ropes and Adams delivers a leaping big boot.
- Lane leaps off the top rope looking for a cross body onto Adams who simply catches Lane and power slams him down.
- Adams pulls Meng up and spikes him down with a pile driver. Adams plays to the crowd and Vito rolls in and chop blocks Adams knee. Vito leaps off the middle rope and plants Adams with a DDT.
- Lane attempts to come off the top again and land on Meng, but Meng side steps and nails Lane with a savant kick and he spins around.
- Vito with a boot to Meng’s midsection and goes for the Code of Silence but Meng easily reverses into the Tongan death grip for the win.

Buff Bagwell defeated Bam-Bam Bigelow in 7:42
- Bigelow misses a body splash in the corner and Bagwell connects with a swinging neck breaker. Bagwell gets a near fall.
- Bigelow manages to deliver a enzuigiri which knocks Bagwell down. Bigelow pulls Bagwell up and connects with a double under hook backbreaker.
- Bigelow drops a few head butts. Bigelow pulls Bagwell up and Bagwell manages to nail Bigelow with a double under hook DDT.
- Bagwell sends Bigelow into the ropes and connects with a dropkick and Bigelow stumbles into a corner.
- Ten punch combo by Bagwell in the corner. Bigelow shoves him off and connects with a clothesline.
- Bigelow ducks a clothesline and scoop slams Bagwell down.
- Bigelow goes to the top but misses the flying head butt.
- Bagwell goes to the top rope and leaps off connecting with the Buff Blockbuster for the win
- After the match, Bagwell looks into the camera and accepts Raven’s challenge for Souled Out.

Gene is backstage with Eddie Guerrero.
- Gene asks Eddie why he was out watching the Hogan/Savage match on Nitro.
- Guerrero says it was because he is sick of being just another guy on the card while WCW continues to produce the same crap since 1995.
- Guerrero says he was sending a message. The message being that he is bored. He wants to issue a challenge.
- Guerrero says that he wants a match. Not at Souled Out. But rather at Super Brawl, one of WCW biggest annual events of the year.
- Guerrero says he has a open challenge to anyone who has been a World Champion in WCW or any other promotion to a match at Super Brawl.
- He wants to prove he is World Title material.
- Guerrero leaves the ring to a good reception as Gene hypes Guerrero up.

Gene is standing in the ring and introduces Booker T followed by Scott Hall.
- Booker T is right in Scott Hall’s face who could care less. Gene intervenes.
- Gene brings up how Booker T has seemingly singled out Scott Hall. Gene brings up Hall’s alcoholic past.
- Hall cuts Gene off. Hall tells Gene that he may have had his issues but he has not ever once taken his job lightly. Though he must say he laughs when sees Booker working his ass off only to be a “mid card jabroni”. While he can go to a bar get drunk and be top wrestler in WCW.
- Hall looks Booker in the eyes and tells him that Booker could not beat him on his worst day. Because no matter what, he is better than Booker.
- Booker grabs the microphone and says that what Hall has just said is his point along with Guerrero. He says that he is one of the best workers in the company but guys like Hall who could care less are preventing the fans from seeing good matches.
- Booker says he is sick of it. He has never been this pissed off in his life. Booker challenges Hall to a fight. He wants to show the world just who the man is.
- Hall has no problem with fighting Booker. He says Souled Out would be a perfect date.
- Booker agrees and says he wishes Hall luck come the 30th. Booker goes to shake his hand and Hall shakes.
- However, once Booker turns around Hall attacks Booker. Hall sends Booker into the ropes and Booker meets him with a leaping side kick.
- Hall rolls to the floor and Booker goes to the top turnbuckle taunting Hall.
- Gene is going nuts.

Before the next contest, Jimmy Hart comes out and puts over his “awesome” new man.
- This leads to The Cat coming out and telling Hart that he doesn’t see anyone.
- Hart says in short time you will. That’s when Mike Awesome comes from behind and clotheslines The Cat down.

Mike Awesome defeated The Cat in 8:28

- Awesome sends Cat into the ring steps and Cat is holding his shoulder in some serious pain.
- Awesome sends Cat into the ring and climbs to the top rope. Awesome leaps off connecting with a shoulder block. Awesome gets a near fall.
- Awesome taunts the crowd and this allows Cat to deliver a few karate kicks to Awesome’s chest. Cat backs Awesome into a corner and delivers a spin kick.
- Cat sends Awesome across the ring hard back first into the corner and as Awesome stumbles out Cat connects with a super kick.
- Cat comes off the ropes and connects with a high knee attack. Cat comes off the middle rope and misses a knee drop.
- Awesome gets up and connects with a overhead belly to belly suplex and Cat rolls to the floor.
- Hart hits Cat with his megaphone. Awesome comes off the ropes and connects with a suicide dive over the top rope onto Cat on the floor.
- Awesome sends Cat back into the ring and connects with the Awesome Bomb but doesn’t go for the cover.
- Awesome goes to the top rope and connects with the Awesome Splash for the win.
- After the match, Hart sets up a table on the floor and Awesome power bombs Cat from apron through the table!
- Awesome and Hart celebrate the win as Cat is not moving on the floor.

Chris Benoit defeated Chris Kanyon in 10:53

- Benoit backs Kanyon into a corner and delivers several chops. Benoit ducks a clothesline and drops Kanyon with three German suplex’s
- Kanyon rolls to the floor. Benoit follows him and begins to chase Kanyon around the ring. Kanyon rolls into the ring and works on Benoit with a few boots.
- Kanyon sends Benoit into the ropes and delivers a yakuza kick followed by a Russian leg sweep. Kanyon gets a near fall.
- Delayed vertical suplex by Kanyon for another near fall. Kanyon appears to be gaining confidence.
- Kanyon comes off the ropes looking for a swinging neck breaker but Benoit side steps the move and takes Kanyon down with a backbreaker.
- Benoit with a gut wrench suplex and goes for the Cross Face but Kanyon grabs the ropes and rolls to the floor.
- Kanyon is taunting the crowd and when he turns around Benoit takes Kanyon down with a baseball slide.
- Benoit sends Kanyon back into the ring. Benoit re-enters but Kanyon delivers a high knee and plants Benoit with the ace crusher.
- Kanyon plays to the crowd and is celebrating. He goes for the cover and Benoit is able to kick out.
- Jeff Jarrett comes running down with his guitar in hand and tells Kanyon to hold him.
- Jarrett is on the apron and goes to hit Benoit with the guitar, but Benoit moves and Jarrett nails Kanyon. Benoit punches Jarrett off.
- Benoit goes up top and connects with the flying head butt for the win!

- After the match, Benoit goes to the floor and brawls with Jarrett. Eventually, Jarrett grabs his belt and runs away from Benoit.
- Benoit signals that the United States title will be his at Souled Out.
- Tenay and Hudson sign off as Saturday Night ends.
