Re: A Nightmare On Elm Street - Preview & Discussion

After spending the past decade becoming more and more upset with remake news, I've learned to relax a bit and wait before I chalk it up as a failure. As resistant as I am about a new actor playing Freddy, a new actor may be just what the series needs. Much in the case of replacing Kane Hodder (As Jason Voorhees) and Donald Pleasence (As Doctor Loomis), it allowed a new actor to try out a new approach to an old character. In the case of Kane Hodder, without realizing it, a character might be missing something, but due to an actor being so used to the character, changes do not happen.

Robert Englund will forever be known as Freddy. Just as Sean Connery is fondly remembered as James Bond, regardless of how many new actors play the character. With the reboot, I'm all in favor of experimenting with a new Freddy.
