Re: TNA needs to get going

I don't agree about the hardcore violence point. Stuff like Abyss being cut open the way he was during that beatdown will turn more people off the product than it will attract people to it. I am the first to appreciate the use of blood in wrestling, because it is very important to add drama and excitement to a match, as well as realism, but if anything, TNA overuse it already. This sort of violence only means something if it is used sparingly. We see someone ''busted wide open'' pretty much every week on IMPACT! so why should we care about it anymore?

I definitely agree with the overall theme of this thread though. They need to capitalize on WWE's failings by creating a true alternative to the watered down, child friendly WWE product. However, I feel that in many ways they are doing as much as they could in that department. It is a fine line between distinguishing themselves from WWE and offering a more mature product, while also trying to appeal to a mainstream audience. Their target audience should be people like us, but I don't think it is any lack of violence of 'edginess' which turns people off, more the nonsensical booking.

Yeah that Mesias debut was awesome. Shame they fucked up the character THE NEXT TIME we saw him. That sums up everything I have been saying. It is all well and good having shocking booking, but if you really can't book, you'll ruin it all.

"A few weeks prior to signing with WCW, I witnessed Hogan wrestle Flair on Nitro. Now strictly from a fan perspective, it was very hard to watch. What I witnessed that night was two legends that were shells of their former selves still trying to do it. Watching Hogan & Flair that night just wasn't right. In my opinion the bookers were just exploiting them to try to pop a number. It was a desperate situation and that's exactly the way it came across on TV."

I'm saying I'd watch Punk alone in a porno.
