| Well the Bible has enough random quotes in it that could be interpreted in a variety of manners. We had a rather robust class on the New Testament that discussed Jesus in a historical rather than theological context and we spent a decent amount of time picking apart hypocritical sections of the Bible.
The problem is that you bit off more than you could chew - you could've put together a solid construct by tracing the institutionalization of religion into political moralism and thought control, but you'd have to have several instances of specific instances throughout history to provide consistency. That'd take a lot of friggin research, if you ask me, but it'd be a pretty cool thesis. |
