| Cold blooded animals feel pain different and I am pretty sure that fish are cold blooded. Than again, I am stupid.
Also, who is to say that the research with fish could not be used for medical purposes? Certainly, research with has to do with nerve endings and pain can have some connection with that of humans. Many scientific discoveries have come from shared work in unlikely places.
As they say, knowledge is power.
