| Since it's a very slow at college today I will answer...
1. What has been the biggest story in the NFL so far after nine weeks of the 2006 season? I think the Steelers being 2-6 at this point is pretty huge. I didn't see that coming at all. The other big story is that there are actually other players in the NFL not named Terrell Owens. Who knew?
2. What team do you feel is the best defense in the league? The Denver Broncos are my pick. No offense to the Bears, who I feel are great obviously, but they haven’t played the quality opponents that Denver has played and the Broncos have impressed he hell out of me all year. I think the Giants defense is pretty great at this point too. So that’s my top three.
3. When will the 8-0 Indianapolis Colts lose this season, if you feel they will even lose at all? I guess December 10 @ Jacksonville, but I’m not really sure. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a shocking thing like losing to the Titans, though.
4. What was the best free agent acquisition and/or trade in the NFL this year? I think the Saints signing of Drew Brees is first while the Broncos trade for Javon Walker would be second. Both moves have paid off huge for both teams. The Daunte Culpepper acquisition by Miami would rank as the 1,437th best move of the offseason.
5. What team has been the most surprising (in a good way) this season? The New Orleans Saints are the clear choice here. I thought they had built a good foundation, but I didn’t see them sitting at 6-2 at this point in the year. Sean Payton is probably the coach of the year while Marques Colston is clearly the steal of the draft. Who would have thought that the best Saints rookie wouldn’t be Reggie Bush? Crazy.
6. What team has been the most disappointing this season? The Dolphins. Yes, the Steelers are disappointing at 2-6, but they’ve had a tough schedule. Miami is a team that I thought would be a playoff contender especially after ending last year so well. (EDIT: Fuck it, the answer is Pittsburgh. I just had to mention the Miami thing too.)
7. Who do you think is the Most Valuable Player in the NFL this season? A month ago I thought McNabb. Two months ago I said Brady. I’m wrong on both counts. The correct answer is…yes…Peyton Manning again. In second would be LaDainian Tomlinson while I’d probably put Larry Johnson in third at this point.
8. Who will represent the AFC in Super Bowl XLI? Before the year I said New England and I’m going to stick with that. However, after this Sunday I’m thinking maybe the Colts have what it takes to get over the proverbial hump this year.
9. Who will represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLI? The New York Giants. Again, I picked them to go all the way and I still believe that. I think they’re the class of the NFC along with Chicago, but the difference is this team has the better offense.
10. Who will win Super Bowl XLI? I’m going to say the Giants. I just think they’re the most complete team on both sides of the ball. They run well, they pass well, they defend well against the run and their pass defense is getting better because their front four is able to pressure the QB’s into making mistakes. |
