Vick like potential doesn't mean he plays like Vick? I don't get that. Vick like potential means he plays like Vick. He has the potential to be Michael Vick. Michael Vick is a quarterback who runs a lot and is only learning the passing game now. JaMarcus Russell doesn't run a lot. So to me, that is a bad comparison, one only made possible by his skin color. Stanton has as much Vick like potential as Russell does - NONE. Vick, 6'0", skinny, runs a lot, Russell, 6'6", THICK, does not run so much. How are they similar?

Racist is probably an overstatement, blow-hardish or ignorant is probably a better one. That's dumb. You compared the two black quarterbacks in the draft to Michael Vick. JaMarcus Russell really = Jared Lorenzen, while Troy Smith is in a class of his own. That's not to say "OMG SMITH IS THE BEST EVAR" (although he's awesome), he just really doesn't have an NFL comparison. Drew Brees with a stronger arm, or McNabb with less size, maybe.

I do worry about Quinn's mental makeup, Bret - he can come back and win big games but he always seems so uncomfortable in the pocket and looks like he's about to choke. The thing is, if he just never frowned or never looked rattled, we'd never know, because his play doesn't dictate it, just his body language. That's dangerous, though. That potentially belies a nature that more pressure will bring out of him. I like Quinn, I think he isn't good enough to go in the top 10 though. He's a better prospect than Cutler but not by a lot.

I think Stanton is really overrated. He's got a decent arm and escapability, but he's easily rattled and he makes a lot of mistakes. To me, he is the type of quarterback that's going to make a team really angry.

Someone is getting a steal in Troy Smith. Sure, he's not of ideal height, but his line at OSU, from LT to RT - 6'8, 6'8, 6'5, 6'5, 6'6. The Browns line - 6'5, 6'3, 6'2, 6'4, 6'6. So he may get a few extra passes batted down - he's Brees' height and he's got a stronger arm and more speed. He can make any throw. Not to say he'll be better than Brees - even as good as Brees would be great. I just think it's a mistake to pass up a good QB because he isn't of ideal height. I mean, it's not like he's 5'5" or something, 6'0" is not too small.

My QB rankings probably go:

Quinn
Smith
Brohm
Leak
Stanton
Russell

Only three sure first day picks I feel. I don't even like Brohm that much..
