Points: 17,019, Level: 56 | | 2007 Draft Yea I know it's still what November and we got until what? April? but I want to hear some outside opinions. I've compiled a Top Five List for each position. After which You may post your own or you may pick mine apart. This will be updated weekly as more performances roll in.
QB 1. JaMarcus Russell, JR, LSU Analysis: Another Junior but could make the jump to the NFL after showing much potential after his Sophmore season. Unfourtunately this potential is much like Michael Vick's So it should remain to be seen what he will do. 2. Brady Quinn, SR, Notre Dame Analysis: Probably the best NFL-Ready Quarterback. Could fit well into any system and start right away. He shows flashes of greatness but does need time to develop as a playcaller in the NFL. 3. Brian Brohm, JR, Louisville Analysis: It remains to be seen whether he'll go into the Draft in April but he is one of the best passers in Nation right now. I think he'd be a project but one that could be worthwhile. 4. Drew Stanton, SR, Michigan State Analysis: I know he doesn't look good as far as numbers and winning goes but to me he is has better intangibles and potential to be a Brady Quinn. 5. Troy Smith, SR, Ohio State Analysis: Crucify me in Ohio but Troy Smith is overrated. He is a clone of Michael Vick and how is Vick doing in the NFL. Nevertheless I can't argue with raw athleticism Which is something Troy has a lot of. RB 1. Marshawn Lynch, JR, California Analysis: Crucify me in Oklahoma, Marshawn Lynch shows the awareness and vision of an NFL back. Not near the talent of Adrian Peterson but has proven to be more durable and more explosive than Adrian. 2. Adrian Peterson, JR, Oklahoma Analysis: Truly a great RB, not a Reggie Bush complete player but still one of the best in the nation. Has had trouble with injuries it seems. Also needs to work on his vision so he gets hit less. 3. Kenny Irons, SR, Auburn Analysis: Nice combination of power and quickness. Shows sparks of greatness every now and then but needs to prove he can be more consistent to be a great NFL back. 4. Michael Bush, JR, Louisville Analysis: If he declares he is one of the top talents in the draft. Lives up to his last name as far as versatility goes. However I have a feeling he wouldn't be an effective everydown back as he seems to get nicked up all the time. 5. Garrett Wolfe, SR, Northern Illinois Analysis: Truly a complete back. Does everything well and up to standards, but is not great in any area. Save his elusiveness one of the most elusive backs I have seen play. WR 1. Calvin Johnson, JR, Georgia Tech Analysis: Amazing, awesome, the most talented reciever coming out of college I have seen. Possesses great lateral and vertical quickness and speed. Almost impeccable hands. He truly is a Great WR 2. Jeff Samardzija, SR, Notre Dame Analysis: Good WR but not great gets the job done. Like a Deion Branch type is flashy but quiet. He is also 6'5" which is an awesome height for a WR 3. Steve Breaston, SR, Michigan Analysis: If he can solve his one major problem he could be a great NFL reciever. Unfourtuately his biggest problem is very very very important. He drops the ball. Once he learns how to catch he'll be great. 4. Ted Ginn, JR, Ohio State Analysis: Amazing speed, amazing quickness, amazing hands. So why is he ranked #4? because we don't know if he'll come out, and I don't know how his speed is going to translate into the NFL. 5. David Ball, SR, New Hampshire(1-AA) Analysis: If he could do what he did in I-AA in I-A we'd be talking about him day and night. He is a great reciever. No doubt in my mind. OL 1. Joe Thomas, SR, T, Wisconsin Analysis: Go ahead call me a 'homer' for choosing Joe as the best lineman. But watch him play, he is an amazing Tackle and could anchor a line in the NFL for years. Overall #1 in my mind. 2. Levi Brown, SR, T, Penn State Analysis: Great Left Tackle. A true "natural" Left Tackle. Another player who could anchor an NFL line for years. 3. Joe Staley, SR, T, Central Michigan Analysis: Extremely athletic for his size. Could easily be a Top-10 pick had he gone to a more prestigous school. Still might be there. Great strength and quickness. 4. Ben Grubbs, SR, G, Auburn Analysis: Shows his athleticism by having played 3 positions while in college. Started out as a Defensive Tackle, then moved to Tight End. Great quickness and strength, Lacks ideal awareness but that is able to be improved. 5. Kyle Young, SR, C, Fresno State Analysis: Overall a center who also can play as a pulling guard. Shows great footwork and stability. Needs to improve his strength at the Point-Of-Attack to be a true NFL Starter.
