I'm gonna have to call on people saying that others only say Cena sucks in the ring as an excuse to hate on him. First, lets make it clear that I didn't like him then and I sure as hell don't now.
He does suck. And no, I don't mean he lacks the ability to actually do things in the ring, I've seen him do it before, he just doesn't do anything half interesting anymore. It isn't always about your wrestling technique either; you have to entertain. He was way more entertaining years ago. Hell, look at his very first match against Kurt Angle. I thought that was a great match and I don't like him or Kurt. Or his match against Jericho. Think it was at Vengeance, but don't hold me to it. He was still doing power moves then, but he was vibrant, energetic and always moving, showing that he was trying to give his all.
As for him changing gimmicks, yes. He should have come back at the Rumble or the following Monday and adapted that older gimmick. I didn't like him, but I loved that he repped whatever town he was in. He didn't seem fake then. Now he truly is the "Franchise Boy". I don't think he has to be a heel to go back to that or that he has to really get into the rapping part as much as he used to. I don't want to see the Marine/Superman anymore. I'd rather he just be cool, laid back and cocky again. |
