Sunday, May 11th 2008, Orlando, FL Dark Matches:
Eric Young def. Simon Diamond via Pinfall.
Tyler Black def. Cassidy Reily via Pinfall.
We open Sacrifice with Intense Voice Over Man & a highlight video. The video focus's on Christopher Daniels/Robert Roode rivalry & the pending announcement of the new Co-DOA.
We kick of the show with the typical pyro display & laser beams before America's Most Wanted are introduced for the first match up.
America's Most Wanted vs Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner
Despite the early burst from Steiner & Jarrett the experienced team mates of Harris & Storm took control & did everything they could to keep it. Jarrett was deemed the weaker man so he was isolated. Harris & Storm took their time in picking apart the back of the former TNA World Champion. Chris Harris hit Jarrett with a Catatonic that would have finished the match had Steiner not lost his patience.
Steiner stormed the ring & nearly decapitated Harris before going after Storm. Storm drew Steiner to the outside where the two did battle near the ramp way. Storm attempted a suplex but Steiner countered & hit a DDT to bust the Cowboy open. Steiner mounted Storm & went for the open wound. Back in the ring both Harris & Jarrett are getting back to their feet. Jarrett is crawling to his corner for a tag, unaware that his partner isn't there.
Jarrett finally gets to his corner & cant believe Steiner is AWOL. Jarrett turns back to the match & nearly gets a super kick from Harris but ducks at the last moment. Harris spins back around & Jarrett goes for a small package. Jarrett gets a two before Harris rolls through into one of his own. Harris reaches out & grabs the bottom rope as Rudy Charles counts Jarrett down for the three count.
Result: America's Most Wanted via Pin fall.
Harris quickly rolls out of the ring as Jarrett is livid. He knows he got screwed. Jarrett complains to the ref while Harris hits Steiner from behind to save his partner. Harris drags Storm to his feet & both men head backstage with a TNA World Tag Team Title match coming up for them later tonight. Storm is bleeding heavily as Steiner gives chase wanting to fight some more.
As Steiner disappears backstage Jarrett is still arguing with the ref so Mike Tenay sends us backstage to Jim Cornette's office.
Cornette has a visitor in the form of the X-Division champion Homicide. Homicide is irate & is demanding his match be put on next so he can get Johnny Devine for what he did to Shelley Martinez on iMPACT! Homicide informs us that Martinez is in hospital with a severely injured neck. Homicide continues his rant by bringing up Kid Kash giving her a concussion with the X-Division title belt a few weeks ago. Homicide says nothing was done about that either.
With that, Jim Cornette cuts him off. Cornette tells Homicide that while he feels bad about what happened to Martinez there is nothing he can do. For the concussion, he did not receive a complaint so he could do anything about it. For the neck injury, it was legal because it was a mixed tag match. Cornette apologizes but Homicide isn't happy. Homicide informs Cornette that what happens to Johnny Devine tonight will be on Cornette's hands, not his. Homicide stares down Cornette before leaving.
Our next match of the evening is the Gang Warfare four way one fall to a finish. The winner will earn his team five points while the loser will cost his team three.
Sonjay Dutt vs Chase Stevens vs Senshi vs Abyss
Abyss used his size & power to dominate early on but when his three opponents teamed up he was soon eliminated from proceedings. Anytime Abyss tried to get back into the match his opponents would team up again. With the match effectively a three way X-Division match the high paced styles of Sonjay Dutt & Senshi took over. Chase Stevens was on the wrong end of the Warriors Way followed by a Shooting Star Press from Sonjay.
Sonjay took Senshi down with a Hurrancanrana before climbing the ropes. At that point Ms. Brooks climbed onto the apron to try & distract Sonjay yet again. Sonjay however covered his eyes as Earl Hebner tried to get Ms. Brooks off the apron. With Hebner distracted & Dutt in an unaware state Kaz came from the crowd & jumped to the top rope.
Kaz proceeded to deliver the Flux Capacitor while Ms. Brooks tried to get Hebner to turn around. Kaz slid out of the ring & ran back through the crowd as Senshi crawled over to make the pin. Brooks finally convinced Hebner to turn around but it ended up costing her big time as he made the count to give Senshi the win.
Result: Senshi via Pin fall.
After the match Ms. Brooks gets into the ring & is screaming at Hebner for being distracted by her. Women.
While Brooks screams at Hebner we go backstage to Crystal who is standing by with the number one contender for the TNA World Championship, Robert Roode.
Crystal asks Roode what his thoughts are as he prepares for the biggest match of his career to date. An unusually modest Roode agrees with Crystal about it being the biggest match of his career. Roode says he doesn't know how long it'll be before he gets another shot at the gold so he is going to make tonight count. Roode says tonight he fulfills a long held ambition, Roode adds you could call it a lifelong dream but that would be too cheesy. Roode tells Crystal he has a long held ambition of becoming TNA World Champion. Roode says tonight, its going to happen. Roode reminds Crystal that after tonight, it will Pay to be Roode.
Back at ringside & we are ready for the TNA Knockouts Championship Match.
Jazz vs Awesome Kong (c)
A hard hitting match between two of the most dominant Knockouts in wrestling today was decided by the most basic of moves. After Jazz had become the first since Gail Kim to kick out of the Awesome Bomb Kong knew it was going to take something different to win. Kong went for a Choke slam but Jazz slipped out & attempted a full nelson. Kong allowed Jazz to get on her back before falling backwards to crush her. Kong took a chance & went to the top rope! Kong came off & smashed Jazz nearly through the ring with an Awesome Press. Kong made the cover & unsurprisingly Jazz was unable to kick out.
Result: Awesome Kong retains via Pin fall.
Despite having won the match Kong isn't finished yet. Kong drags Jazz to her feet & hits another Awesome Bomb. With Jazz unconscious in the middle of the ring, Kong again goes to the top rope but time is cut off when the woman she tried to injure last month at Lock down, Melissa Anderson, hits her with a kendo stick.
Kong falls back into the ring before Melissa continues the assault. Melissa ends up breaking the kendo stick across the head of Kong leaving her motionless beside Jazz. Melissa picks up the Knockouts title & holds it above her head.
Melissa drops the belt onto the chest of Kong & leaves the ring as we go backstage where Christian Cage & AJ Styles are having a very public argument.
Styles is calling out Cage for him walking out on Thursday. Cage claims he needed to use the restroom before saying what does it matter as they still won. Styles says it was because because of himself & Robert Roode having to work twice as hard. Styles tells Cage he wont put up with anymore of his bullshit. Cage tells Styles that he is in charge, & not AJ. Styles disagrees as he has done more in TNA than Cage ever will. Cage asks Styles when was he last world champion. Styles remains silent before heading to the ring for his match which is up next.
Christian Cage & AJ Styles vs Tomko & The Giant Bloom
Tomko & Bloom worked so well together its almost like they teamed before joining forces in TNA. Cage was isolated for much of the match but he finally got a break when he & Tomko collided with a double clothesline in the middle of the ring. Cage is closer to Styles than Tomko is to Bloom but Tomko is fresher than Cage. With both Styles & Bloom stretching for the tag its all about who get to their partner first. Its Cage but Styles pulls his arm back before giving Cage a one fingered salute & leaving the arena.
Cage uses the corner to pull himself up as he screams after Styles who keeps walking. Cage is crushed in the corner by Bloom with a running splash. Cage stumbles backwards as Bloom goes off the ropes & hits a mafia kick. Cage falls in a heap before Bloom makes the pin & gets the victory.
Result: The Giant Bloom & Tomko via Pin fall.
As Tomko & Bloom stand over the fallen Cage we cut backstage where Johnny Devine is finishing his preparations for his X-Division title match that is coming up next. Devine pulls his bandanna of & heads for the ring entrance but is met by Christy Hemme. Hemme asks Devine if he remembers the deal they made. Devine says he does but hasn't got time to discuss it now. Hemme says that's all she wanted. Hemme wishes Devine luck before she steps aside. Devine is still suspicious but heads to the ring without looking back.
Homicide (c) vs Johnny Devine vs Matt Bentley
Homicide was focused on Devine fully which allowed Bentley to stand back & watch his opponents beat up each other. Homicide had Devine up for a Gingo Killa when Bentley struck. Bentley hit Homicide with Head on Collision in the exact same way he did on iMPACT! Bentley makes an arrogant cover & Homicide kicks out. Devine then grabs Bentley by the hair & hit him with the Devine Intervention. Devine makes the cover but Homicide pulls him off.
Homicide sends Devine shoulder first into the ring post before sending Bentley flying out of the ring. Homicide pulls Devine back to him & hits a Gringo Cutter for the three count.
Result: Homicide retains via Pin fall.
After the match Homicide drags Devine back to his feet & hits a Gringo Killa. Homicide then goes out of the ring & returns with a steel chair in hand. Matt Bentley crawls back into the ring & receives a chair shot to the spine. Homicide opens the chair out & puts Devine's head on it. Homicide then grabs another chair from ringside & takes aim at the prone head of Johnny Devine.
The chair is pulled out of the hands of Homicide by Andrew Thomas who refuses to let Homicide injure Devine. Devine recovers enough to manage to crawl out of the ring while Hoimicide is arguing with Thomas. Homicide turns back to the ring to see Devine gone. Homicide kicks the ring ropes in frustration before he gets cracked in the head with the ring bell. Homicide falls in a heap as Petey Williams throws the ring bell back towards Dave Penzer before giving the Feast or Fired briefcase containing an X-Division title match to Andrew Thomas. Petey rolls over Homicide & makes the cover but somehow Homicide kicks out at two!
Petey questions Andrew Thomas but finally accepts it was only a two. Petey drags Homicide to his knees before trying to set up the limp Homicide for a Canadian Destroyer. After a couple a failed attempts he pulls Homicide to his feet but regrets it as Homicide hits a Gringo Cutter. Homicide hooks both legs & puts his full weight on the chest of Petey as he gets the three count to retain the X-Division title for a second time.
Result: Homicide retains via Pin fall.
Homicide quickly drops out of the ring as Petey Williams is back to his feet & irate. Petey is trying to claim a fast count but Homicide isn't interested. Homicide grabs his belt & heads backstage holding the back of his head.
A video is played now, showing Rain winning a TNA Contract on iMPACT! & the beat down that followed at the hands of the Beautiful People & Lacey.
When the video ends Rain is already in the ring along with Jim Cornette. Cornette presents Rain with the contract for her to sign. Rain thanks Cornette & signs on the dotted line. As Jim Cornette leaves the ring to allow Rain to soak up the fans reaction The Beautiful People Interrupt. Velvet Sky, Angelina Love & Lacey head to the ring to put a downer on what should be a great moment for Rain. Surprisingly tho, Angelina love starts by saying sorry for what happened on iMPACT! & offers a hand a friendship. Rain accepts it before Velvet Sky also apologizes. They also shake hands.
Velvet Sky hands the mic to Lacey who isn't so nice. Lacey tells Rain she fluked her way to victory & if they were to face each other one-on-one, Rain wouldn't have a chance in hell. Lacey tells Rain she thinks she is scum before spitting in her face. Rain wipes the spit out of her eye before Angelina Love & Velvet Sky pounce from behind. A three on one beat down follows that Rain has no chance of surviving. The Beautiful People dump Rain out of the ring & rip up her contract in the middle of the ring to heavy boos from the fans in attendance.
The next match is the TNA World Tag Team Championships, or at least it was supposed to be but Jim Cornette is in the ring. Cornette informs us that James Storm is not allowed wrestle tonight due to the injury he received earlier tonight. Cornette says he has talked to the champions Samoa Joe & Jay Lethal & they have agreed to postpone the match. Lethal was especially understanding considering he is just back from a head injury himself. Cornette apologizes & tells the fans that the match will happen as soon as James Storm is cleared to wrestle. Jim Cornette again apologizes before leaving the ring.
Mike Tenay on commentary puts over how bad the injury must be to keep Cowboy from competing for the gold tonight. Tenay then sends us backstage where Leticia is standing by with the TNA World Champion Christopher Daniels.
Leticia asks Daniels for his thoughts ahead of tonight title defence against Robert Roode. Daniels respond in a similar manner to Roode earlier in the night. Daniels tells Leticia that he is seriously nervous. Daniels tells Leticia he may have under-estimated his opponent tonight. Daniels says Roode proved he deserves to be at this level when he & AJ Styles defeated three men including himself on iMPACT! Daniels finishes the brief interview by telling Roode he may have won the battle, but tonight The Fallen Angel wins the War. Daniels then asks Leticia to leave so he can finish his warm up. Leticia obliges.
The Motor City Machine Guns vs The Rock 'n' Rave Infection
The Rock 'n' Rave Infection brought Johnny Devine with them for the match. Devine didn't look as if he wanted to be there but Hemme must have convinced him. When the Machine Guns came out & seen they were at a disadvantage Alex Shelley stopped & said something to Chris Sabin. Shelley then disappeared backstage as Sabin continued to the ring. Sabin climbed into the ring unintimidated by the numbers disadvantage. After some insults were traded in the ring Alex Shelley re-appeared on the stage with some backup. Alex Shelley brings recent TNA debutante Jimmy Jacobs, coincidentally also from Michigan, to ringside to keep Devine in check.
It wasnt long before Hemme talked Devine into attacking Jacobs at ringside. Devine ran towards Jacobs but Jacobs seen him coming & hit a Spear. Jacobs picked the hurt Devine up onto his shoulders & carried him backstage much to the annoyance of Hemme. In the ring Lance Hoyt was in control until the incident on the outside distracted him. Sabin hit a step up enziguri to leave both men down. Both Sabin & Hoyt managed to get tags to their partners to allow the fresher Shelley & Rave into the match.
Rave gained the upper hand when Shelley missed a splash in the corner. Rave attempted the Gravity Killer but Shelley shoved him off in mid air. Rave landed hard & was winded. Shelley rolled thru & tagged Sabin back in. Shelley went on his hands & knees as Sabin used him as a springboard to take Lance Hoyt off the apron & into the guardrail. The Machine Guns set Rave up in a tree of Woe before hitting Bullet Point. Rave stumbled back to his feet & was on the wrong end of ASCS Rush. With Rave out on his feet Sabin hoisted him up for a Cradle Shock as Shelley hit a suicide dive onto Lance Hoyt on the outside. Sabin pinned Rave to get the three count & become the number one contenders to the TNA World Tag team Championships at Slammiversary.
Result: The Motor City Machine Guns via Pin fall.
The Machine Guns celebrate into the crowd as they are officially number one contenders after a long battle with The Rock 'n' Rave Infection.
After the ring has cleared, Jim Cornette joins Jeremy Borash in the ring. Borash has an official looking envelope that is still sealed. When the crowd dies down a little Borash tells us its time to announce the new Co- Director of Authority alongside Jim Cornette. Cornette looks less than happy with what has happened & now he will only have 50% power whereas he previously has 100%. JB builds up the tension before opening the envelope. JB seems surprised when he sees who is on the card. JB shrugs & introduces us to the new Co-DOA, Vince Russo!
The arena goes silent as Cornette grabs the card off JB to see if he is telling the truth. After a few seconds Vince Russo makes his way onto the entrance ramp to deafening boo's. Russo smiles & takes a little bow before continuing to the ring. Cornette is beside himself & storms out of the ring & backstage instead of greeting his new co-worker. Russo gets to the ring & shakes JB's hand before asking for a mic. JB hands over the mic & also leaves.
Russo must have hearing problems as he thanks the fans for their reaction. Russo then goes on an ego trip. He informs us that he was responsible for the biggest boom period in wrestling to date, the WWF Attitude Era. Russo then says he took a ship that was nearly sunk & almost kept it afloat long enough to make it ashore, but the damage Eric Bischoff did was too great. Russo then says he laid the groundwork for what was TNA's most successful period. 2005. Russo reminds us he was in charge in 2004 & only personal problems made him have to leave his position. Russo says Dusty Rhodes came in, took all the credit & nearly bankrupted the company.
Russo says he is here to finish what he started nearly four years ago, making TNA the number one brand in the industry. Russo finishes his speech as the Fuck off Russo chants have started up. Russo goes backstage as a hype video is played for the upcoming TNA World Championship match.
Robert Roode vs Christopher Daniels (c)
Daniels took the early advantage as Roode was too arrogant in the lock up. Daniels maintained the advantage until Roode caught him with a thumb to the eye. Roode kept the champion grounded as he worked over the neck & back of the Fallen Angel. Daniels did provide some hope when he blocked a suplex & hit one of his own but Roode quickly cut him off with a short arm clothesline. Daniels did manage to regain control as Robert Roode took an uncharacteristic risk by going to the middle rope. Roode came off with a leg drop but Daniels rolled out of the way.
Both men got back to their feet where Daniels hit a dropkick. Roode gets back to his feet & Danils connects with a deep arm drag followed by a snap DDT. Roode is slower to his feet this time & Daniels quickly hits the Last Rites but only gets a two count. Daniels scoop slammed Roode before hitting the B.M.E. for another two count. Daniels takes Roode to his feet & locks in a Dragon Sleeper before turning it into a drop DDT. Daniels gets another two count as a result. While Daniels is catching his breath Roode reaches up & again thumbs the champion in the eye.
Roode quickly gets to his feet & kicks Daniels in the ribs. Roode goes for the Pay off but Daniels fights out & hits a forearm smash. Daniels kicks Roode in the midsection before hitting the Angel Wings. Daniels makes the pin & gets the three count to hold onto his title.
Result: Christopher Daniels retains via Pin fall.
Daniels celebrates his hard fought victory as Roode remains motionless in the ring after coming up just short on his first attempt. We go off the air with Daniels standing on the middle ropes holding his title above his head in victory.
