I think ESPN did this a few years ago.

If we make a comprehensive list and #4 is not Lou Gehrig I'm coming to all your houses and bludgeoning you all to death.

Thinking this over, I realize I dont really remember what number most players wore, except for the Yankees and recent Giants (LT, for example).

You know what's crazy? The only single digits that the Yankees havent retired are #2 and #6, and I doubt anybody will be wearing those again. 2 is Jeter, and Torre wore #6
