I actually think the increased divorce rates in the U.S. are a combination of Terry's point (women not putting up with bullshit like they used to) AND people rushing into marriage before they are ready.

It also seems like people outside of NY are in much more of a rush to get married. So many people that I meet that have relocated to NY got married at young ages.

However, I'm engaged at 27, and I'm the only one of my high school friends who is even CLOSE to being married. One of my friends has a serious girlfriend of 3 years, and another friend has an on-again, off-again girlfriend of
2-3 years, and the other 15-20 people from high school that I hang out with regularly are all single or in relationships of less than a year.


It's so weird to us how people from outside of NY are in such a rush to get married...
