As usual I will review this as I watch it. I dont care for going into full match details as most that read it have already saw the PPV or simply dont care about how many Irish whips and punches there are in a match.
Unforgiven opens with a recap of all the stuff that has gone down since Summerslam.
Sweet setup of the stage. It looks very nice. Here is to hoping the fans get a couple monitors seeing as they didnt do it for Summerslam in Boston. The Toronto crowds are always a treat as well. Should be a great show.
We start off with the IC title
Johnny Nitro vs. Jeff Hardy. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SY7WE0C0
I will NEVER understand why the champ would ever come out before the challenger. Stupid.....
haha. How freaking smooth is Johnny Nitros entrance? One of the best in the biz. (That was for Dak)
FINALLY. I nice pop for Jeff. He sure does look odd not being all strung out. But again, Its nice to see. Jeff rocking some braids this week.
JR says Jeff had a unexplained and not discussed 3 year absence. Whenever someone cleans up and its obvious they should acknowledge it. It takes a strong person to overcome addiction and he should be commended for it.
Huge "Nitro Sucks" chant. Crowd is fully behind Jeff.
Lots of mat wrestling armbar takedowns. Is this because of Nitro? Or Hardy not wanting to take so many risks anymore?
Another "Hardy" chant, loud but short.
Hardy goes up for the Swanton and Nitro pops up and kicks the legs out from Hardy who takes a crazy bounce off the top rope and almost lands on his head. Careful Mr. Nitro.
I am a little disappointed in Nitro in this match, he usually displays more moves and is generally more fluid in the ring.
Hardy is really good at selling. Its nice to see someone selling a leg and collapsing when Irish whipped. Because we all know thats what WOULD happen is your leg was garbage.
Man, Hardy is REALLY selling that leg.
Nitro gets Jeff down and goes for reverse moonsault and lands awkwardly. From there Jeff regains the momentum.
Whisper in the wind (perfectly executed I might add) by Jeff on Nitro. Two count. This match is alot longer than I expected it to be. (its at like 15 minutes right now) Perhaps they wanted to see if Jeff could last more than a couple minutes.
Swanton Bomb by Jeff. Nitro gets the foot on the rope before the 3 count.
Nitro goes back after the left leg of Jeff and gets him in a submission move until Jeff gets the ropes again.
Nitro knocks Melina off the ropes by a Hardy throw. Hardy gets a two count on the rollup.
Hardy gets a boot to the face by Melina who falls over and is pinned by Nitro for the 3 count.
(prediction: Hardy wins the IC title on Raw or he keeps getting screwed by Melina and Nitro bringing Matt to the rescue)
Good match, a little slow paced, but a decent overall performance by both.
A nice Team Extreme reunion with Matt Hardy giving Jeff a pep talk backstage. Lita interupts and mocks them. She butchers the whole thing and all I can say is.....Good luck in Hollywood Lita. You're gonna need it.
Umaga vs. Kane http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ULQ0YU2W
Estrada does a pre match promo calling Umaga the only monster in the WWE.
Not much to talk about here so far. Umaga has pretty much had the advantage the entire first 5 minutes of the match. Kane finally gets back in the match and begins to get a good advantage but gets caught up in a Samoan drop.
Umaga goes for a Samoan Spike off the top rope but Kane does his "sit up" just in time. Kane and Umaga exhange blows and take it to the outside of the ring.
Both men are counted out.
I knew they would go in this direction. Neither men could afford a lose right now. They continue fighting postmatch until they disappear to the back.
Cuts to Vince and Shano promo. He tells us that D-X has no chance in Hell. Never heard that one before.
Spirit Squad vs. Highlanders. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YH7Y0XG6
Gee, I REALLY want to skip this match. I just may do that now. *Looks for finish*
I thought they were breaking up the
SSquad? What gives? They win again?
I have a feeling Jeff Hardy will start facing the Spirit Squad members now.
Vince/Shane/Big Show vs. Degeneration X http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GW8CJ9L8
Big Show says he will start against D-X. D-X both boot Show in the nuts and he is instantly taken out of the beginning of the match. Just as he gets up he gets another double low blow.
Shane gets beat on by HBK and Vince by HHH. Both Vince and Shane are bleeding early and getting the piss beaten out of them.
HHH puts a screwdriver to Vinces head. Shane looks like he is bleeding from the forehead pretty good. Big Show is finally up and goes after HBK and HHH. After only a couple offensive moves Show is taken out on the steps outside.
This has been all D-X since the start.
Shane gets a desperation clothesline and takes out HBK. Man, these guys really have to sell the simplest stuff in these matches. HBK has been out of the ring for over a minute because of a clothesline??
Big Show goes outside and takes out HBK with lift over his head into the cage.
Now Big Show tosses HBK into the cage again and just watches from the outside as Vince and Shane take out HHH.
HHH gets hit with the Shane o Mac Trash Can Kick. HHH starts pouring blood from behind his ear. Everyone but Big Show is busted open now. HHH is really bleeding bad now.
HBK gets hit with a Big Show splash off the 2nd rope. Vince goes for the cover on HBK but pulls him up after two saying he has to learn a lesson tonight.
HHH gets back in the ring and makes a save. HHH gets Vince in the Pedigree but is broken up by Shane for a backbreaker. Shane gets wacked in the face with a spinning HBK kick to the face.
Big Show again takes over again. Vince gets HBK's arms and asks Show for a Big Splash. Vince gets pulled into the path of Show by HBK and Show (weakly) Spash's Vince. Show then gets a ring post to the nuts by D-X.
After the smoke clears. HBK is on the top rope and HHH has a steel chair around the neck of Shane. HBK hits the chair off the top rope and Shane sells blood from the mouth. I really wish they wouldn't do that move.
Oh Geeez....Here we go. HBK hits Sweet Chin Music on Show who falls and is dangling over the top rope ass exposed. I have a bad feeling I know where this is going.
Vince is the only one in the ring with the bloody HBK and HHH. HBK pulls down Big Shows gear exposing his huge freaking ass. Yes folks, that's your ECW champion selling his ass, literally. Vince gets a face full of Big Show man ass by D-X. Show falls out of the ring.
HHH gets a sledgehammer from under the ring. Sweet Chin Music to Vince, then a sledgehammer (that gimmick breaks) to Vinces head.
HHH with the pin and win.
Bloody freaking mess but a great match considering the McMahons were involved.
Now what for D-X?
The McMahons really need to stay off Tv for awhile now.
Maybe I am wrong but there sure seems like a lot of time left in this PPV.
A lookback at Trish's career and her rivalry with Lita. Good stuff.
Lita vs. Trish (Trish's last match) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q1T4Y02I
Interesting outfit for Trish. Can't say I am too crazy about it.
Crowd with a loud "Thank you Trish" chant.
Trish and Lita go back and forth with Trish getting a couple nice high spots. One off the top rope to the floor and another one of those head scissors off the ring steps on Lita.
Lita gets a big advantage on Trish but misses a moonsault and crashes below. Trish gets Lita setup for the Stratusfaction but is tossed out by Lita. haha You can hear a fan below saying "Trish, like are you ok? You're so hot Trish" all heavily laced with sarcasm. It wasnt mean, but it was still funny.
Lita gets the advantage again when they return to the ring. Lita and Trish exchange blows until Trish tosses Lita off the top rope into a Chick Kick. Haha.
Trish puts Lita into a Sharpshooter and gets Lita to submit. Fucking awesome finish !!!!
Trish wins the title in her last match as expected, but with a nice finish.
Randy Orton promo.
Hmm, I forgot all about this match, how ironic that he says nobody cares about Trishs retirement. He then tosses a couple other jabs about Trish in reference to either playing the heel, his storyline or just to guaruntee lack of cheers from the Toronto crowd.
Randy Orton vs. Carlito http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QQRE57JI
Carlito bores me to tears. I will be tough to not FF a little. We know its going to end RKO by Orton right? So why must I watch it? I would rather see X-Pac then Carlito. It's just something about him. Don't really know what it is.
Yup, FF'd it. Cool finish though where Calrito jumps off the top rope into a RKO.
Winner : Orton RKO John Cena vs. Edge TLC for the WWE Title http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UIH62PW0
Ok, so the champ comes out first? Trying to prevent pops? Will he heel on the crowd? That would be pretty stupid.
Crowd goes nuts for Edge and he does his old stuff he did when he was a face by jumpig to the sides of the stage. Should be interesting to see the reaction for Cena when he wins the title as expected.
Cena sucks chant before he even comes out.
Cena music hits to boos. Haha. Man, this guy couldn't buy a pop right now from the male viewers. Eerily familar to Rocky Mavia right before "The Rock" was born.
They do a tale of the tape type thing to gauge the crowd again and make it obvious for those who are too stupid to notice the first time they heard the "Cena sucks" chant. They are trying to make it clear that the only reason Cena is getting booed is because its in Edge's hometown.
(They fail to mention that the same thing happened in Boston at Summerslam)
Edge takes out Cena quick and goes right outside for "the hardware" as in setting up a couple tables and getting a chair. Cena gets him back in the ring for a suplex.
Edge sets up two chairs and goes for a suplex. Cena reverses, goes for his own suplex, but is reversed by Edge to a backbreaker on the chairs.
Edge sets up the ladder and goes up quickly but is knocked over by Cena. Edge lands on his feet and clotheslines Cena.
Cena is in the 619 position. Edge sets up a ladder on his face and jumps from the guardrail into Cenas face. Edge has been running this match so far.
Edge gets hiptossed into a ladder. Edges is outside the ropes and Cena tries to punch him off the ropes into the tables below to no avail..
Another Cena sucks chant breaks out. Cena sets up a table and goes for a suplex off the top rope. Cena gets powerslammed into the table after botching a powerbomb off the top rope.
Edge runs across the ring up a ladder and off the top rope to Cena down below. Crazy and dangerous move. He was lucky that went well.
Edge gets Cena back into the ring and blasts him in the back with a chair. Edge sets up the conchairto but is tripped up by Cena. Cena hits a rolling neckbreaker on Edge on a chair.
Cena sets up Edge in a ladder and slams it closed on him then puts him in the STFU with Edge still in the ladder. Edge taps out but you must get the title from above to win. Edge gets up to a ladder in the face by Cena.
Cena FU's the ladder onto Edge. Cena sets the ladder up and hits a 6 knuckle shuffle onto Edge from the top of the ladder. Cena goes outside to setup more tables inside the ring. As he sets up a table in the ring Edge cracks Cena in the head with a chair.
Edge sets up Cena on a table, then sets another table on top of Cena. He climbs to the top rope but is knocked out by Cena.
Cena climbs a ladder to the title above (very slowly of course) Edge runs up the outside post to a ladder near the corner and spears Cena from one ladder to the other.
A little later........haha. Cena is on the top just about to grab the title as Edge is on the ground. Lita comes running in and pushes the ladder over sending Cena outside the ring to a table below. As Edge is to the top Cena recovers and is about to knock the ladder over Lita hits Cena in the back with a chair but Cena falls ito the ladder sending Edge down hard to a table below. Cena then FU's Lita.
Cena now can't decide if he should beat up Edge more or just win the title. Dur...
Cena climbs the ladder. Edge climbs up the other side but gets caught in a FU to the two tables below that Edge had setup way earlier. Cena grabs the tile for the win.
Great another face Cena run.
Decent PPV. I wish the main event finished with Edge still as champ, but oh well. I didn't really expect any different.
