I attended the SmackDown live event in Pikeville, Ky on 6/25. These are the results as I remember them. Some of these may not be in order and I might have even left some out.
The night started out with The Miz informing us that King Booker would not be there, but Batista would be in the main event!!
Kendrick/London (C) vs. The Pitbulls, Kid Kash/Jamie Noble
WWE Tag Team Championship
This match was a pretty fast paced match. It didn't get much crowd reaction though. I really did not know that Kash/Noble were a tag team now and were calling themselves The Pitbulls, but they were dressed in the same tights and everything. I actually like the idea. This match was the typical house show environment with heels/faces though. Kid Kash was playing the audience to get a reaction, he even used profanities with some of the fans. Kendrick and London got the win here.
Gregory Helms (C) vs. Super Crazy
Cruiserweight Championship
This match got a pretty decent crowd reaction. We had some chants of Hurricane from the audience....lol. A couple of high spots in this one as well. Gregory Helms picked up the victory.
Simon Dean vs. Vito
Vito was wearing the dress of course. I didn't think that would go over very well in Pikeville, Ky but he actually got a face reaction. A guy in the crowd even gave him a high five. But when Vito got knocked to the canvas everyone in the arena got to see more of him than they ever wanted too. He was wearing what appeared to be a G-string. Vito got the win here.
Ken Kennedy vs. Matt Hardy
Kennedy was playing the heel here as usual. He got on the mic and told everyone to shut their mouths. Big face reaction for Hardy when he came out. The crowd really liked him. Kennedy tried to do his finisher from the top rope but Hardy countered it. Kennedy ended up doing his finisher on the mat but Hardy kicked out. Hardy got the twist of fate and picked up the win.
Sylvan vs. Gunner Scott
Sylvan cut a promo on the mic and told everyone he invited them to come and visit Quebec. The crowd booed him. I was really impressed with Sylvan. I had forgotten really what a great wrestler he is. Sylvan picked up the win.
Tatanka vs. The Great Khali
The Great Khali is very big. You have got to see this guy in person to realize how big he really is. This match was a completely one sided match. The Great Khali got the squash victory.
Lashley (C) vs. William Regal
United States Championship
This was a typical old school match on William Regals part. You could tell that he was giving the less experienced Lashley instructions the whole time. They locked up, Lashley threw Regal half way across the ring. Regal eventually got the upper hand and worked on Lashley's leg. Finlay came out to help Regal and got the "Little Bastard" out from under the ring and he hit Lashley's leg with the shillaly and then ran to the back. Lashley overcame the odds though and pulled out a victory here. Finlay then chased the ring announcer throughout the arena.
Jillian vs. Kristal
Hot Body Contest.
They came out and each had their time to do their thing. They both stripped down. They both looked better in person. I was really impressed with Kristal, I never really cared much for her but she was really hot in person. The crowd picked the winner and they picked Kristal. Jillian then speared Kristal and they both wrestled around little. The Miz tried to break it up and they knocked him down and rolled over him.
Mark Henry and Finlay vs. Rey Mysterio and Batista
The crowd absolutely went nuts over Mysterio and Batista. Huge Batista chants all through the match. Mysterio hit the frog splash to win this one. Post match Batista was carrying around the title and acted like he wasn't going to give it back to Mysterio. Batista held the belt out to the ref and when the ref tried to grab it he jerked it away. Batista faced the crowd and held the belt up and the crowd cheered. Mysterio and Batista got face to face and Batista finally gave Mysterio a hug and gave him his belt back. Seemed kind of like a way to see what reaction the crowd would give to Batista turning heel to me. Could they be considering turning him heel to face Mysterio?
Pretty good show overall. I haven't watched SmackDown in a while but I enjoyed the show. I have tickets for an ECW houseshow on July, 2nd now too!!
