| Don't you guys all think Vince has actually handled this one really well. Credit where it's due.
He's made this a public issue. He has publicly shamed Orton who, if he has anything about him, will be thinking "I'm going to prove people wrong when I return".
He has him on a relatively long contract, he doesn't want to jeopardise that and have Orton go to an upstart promotion or Japan, he want's him but he want's a worthwhile version of him. WWE contracts are notoriously low on the downside and high on incentives, if Orton isn't performing on PPV's and they take his merchandise down (which they should if they haven't) then his earning is cut dramatically. So he'll be ultimately paying for this out of his pocket as well.
The way Vince has handled it should ensure that Randy returns a little wiser and a little more willing to toe the company line in future. If he regresses and re-offends, do exactly the same thing only make it 90 days next time, have the guy fully aware of this position after all he won't be able to go elsewhere and potentially earn the money he can in WWE, and he sure as hell hasn't got the background or name of a Brock to take to Japan. |
