New York, NY (Sports Network) - San Antonio swingman Bruce Bowen was suspended one game without pay by the NBA after striking New Orleans guard Chris Paul with his leg during the Hornets' 100-75 win over the Spurs on Wednesday.
With 5:15 remaining in the third quarter, Bowen appeared to knee Paul in the head while Paul was on the floor following a foul call. The incident prompted NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson to discipline Bowen after review Friday.
Bowen, known as one of the league's top perimeter defenders as well as a notoriously physical player, is averaging 5.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 30.3 minutes per game this season.
The 6-foot-7 Cal State Fullerton product served his suspension Friday night when the Spurs lost to the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
By missing Friday's game, Bowen saw his string of 500 consecutive games played - the longest active such streak in the NBA - come to an end.

Another Bullshit punishment by the NBA, watch the replay of it, Chris Paul hits Bowen right in the sack then elbows him in the knee while getting up and then completely flops on the kick. Props to Chris Paul for being a good actor but punish them both, or let it go.
