We don't need new laws, we just need to enforce the ones we have.
The Virginia Tech shooter should have never been allowed to legally buy the guns he used in the attack. He had been involuntarily admitted to a mental hopital in the past and that should have disqualified him from ever owning a gun. The report on that was never sent so his record showed up clean and he was able to purchase the guns.
Having said that, it is very easy to buy a gun illegally. If they make it more difficult to buy guns it will instantly create a black market for them compared to the alcohol black market during prohibition. |
