Like Blade said, their running game really has to be firing -- I'm talking a few big runs by MJD and Taylor -- and Garrard has to make smart throws on offense. On defense, Rashean Mathis is exactly the type of physical cover corner needed to match up with Moss, and ultimately what I think this game will come down to is whether the Jags can get a significant pass rush early -- because if Brady has time to sit in the pocket, they'll score big on anybody.
I'll pick the Pats.

What about the Chargers, Colts rematch?
|
The Chargers were a mess against the Titans; if they come out and play like that again this week, it's gonna get ugly. If Gates can't go, I see no way that this game is even close.
I'll pick the Colts, and I don't think it'll be close.

Seahawks vs. Packers should be good. Is this Bretts last playoff game?
|
To answer the second question first: barring a career-ending injury, I feel there's virtually no way Brett retires this offseason unless the Packers win the Super Bowl. So, my answer is no.
As for the game, the Seahawks were probably the NFC team I least wanted Green Bay to face in the second round, but if you look at how the offenses, defenses and special teams stack up next to each other, Green Bay wins in virtually every category. If Charles Woodson (toe injury) can't play well or can't play at all, the Packers will win in a close one. If he's healthy, I think they'll take it pretty comfortably.
Either way, I'll pick the Packers.

Giants vs. Cowboys take three. Can Dallas beat NY for the third time this season?
|
I have to be honest: I'm riding this Giants bandwagon pretty hard right now. They've looked like a complete football team these past couple weeks (save for a case of the dropsies), and I really don't know how sharp the Cowboys are going to be. The Giants seem to have all the momentum. Of course, the Cowboys could very well come out firing and win in a blowout, but these divisional playoff games are always closer than they should be. I'm almost certain Owens will play, but I expect to see the Cowboys offense struggle to get coordinated early. It's been said a million times, but this is a game that'll define Eli Manning's career in New York.
I'll pick the Giants.
PS. I'm
so fucking excited for all these games.
