UFC is short for ultimate fighting. But the term "Ultimate Fighting" has been picked up by a lot of news outlets when writing articles about MMA in general. As a result a lot of diehard MMA fans, the ones who tend to spend the most time on forums, have associated the term, when used as a verb, with ignorance. It has developed a real negative stigma and those who use it are presumed to be fans who only began watching as a result of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. The whole thing is dumb, but thats just how it is.
If it said, discuss MMA, the UFC and more then it would seem like it is refering to the UFC specifically, but also the entire sport of MMA. |
