| Re: Hogan vs. Austin At WM24? Hogan sure would do it in a heartbeat. Provided he goes over clean that is.
There's money to be had, no doubt, and both Austin and Hogan are astute businessmen, but both men have their pride and I don't think their pride would allow them to take the fall here.
On the one hand Hogan should be amenable, since he's lost to Rock, Angle, Sting, Undertaker on PPV's before who are (with the exception of Rock) all lesser stars than Austin.
I think part of it though is "how" he would choose to lose and the politics he plays in being the focus and the hero even in defeat. He would not allow Austin just to stun him clean to defeat and take the plaudits from the crowd. And that would stick in Austin's jaw.
On the other hand Austin can be just as "gnarly" in this regard. Doubtless even if he agreed to defeat it would probably be with the stipulation that he get's robbed but gets the post match stunner on Hogan to leave looking the winner.
Both men play this whole political game of what the perception of the crowd is even in the eventuality that they lose and they both know that the other will be doing exactly the same so, from a writing standpoint, the match would be hell to get on with those egos.
You could say, well have one go other then a re-match with the loser getting his receipt. But the first match would be Mania and any other PPV victory would be a lesser win
Again you could say "have the rematch at the following Mania" but I don't think there is any trust in the other whereby they would believe this years winner would turn up the next year.
So, finally!! no....I can't see this happening. There's money in it for sure, but the politics and the egos mean that there could never be a 1 on 1 match "finish" that both men would agree with.
