People wanted Carter to be the next Jordan. He came out of North Carolina, He leaped like Jordan. He probably was a pet project. Managment thought T-Mac was an add on like Pippin. even though T-Mac was on the team before Carter. T-Mac didn't have the hype that Carter did.
