| Wrestlemania Preview : Womens Title Match Of all the matches being contested this year at Wrestlemania this one has legitamate claims to being the most personal.
Mickie James arrived in the WWE last year having worked at the OVW promotion for the last few years. The warning signs about her mental state have been on the wall ever since. An early warning was some off the record comments made by Melina (who also had a tenure at OVW as part of MNM). She was quoted as saying that Mickie was quirky, unbalanced and was not above stealing her moves. All things that have played out in the last 6 months on RAW but this time not with Melina, but with none other than the Womens Champion herself Trish Stratus.
What seemed to begin as a rookie being starstruck soon turned into hero-worship and as the weeks have gone by jelousy and possesiveness. Mickie's intrest in Trish seemed a hell of a lot less preofessional and more and more personal. Finally after one kiss and hug too many Trish decided to create a bit of space between herself and Mickie asking for a "break". However fate (or maybe something more sinister) brought Trish and Mickie back together for "one last time" as a Tag Team at SNME. It was here that Mickie's rampaging jealousy was unleashed after winning the match she turned on her "idol" and beat her down using her own moves the "Chick Kick" and "Stratisfaction". Her mental state seems to have deterotated further in the past few weeks and with such an aggressive side to her persona(s) she must be taken very seriously at Wrestlemania.
What can be said of Trish Stratus that has not already been said? A true great Trish's attitude to training (probably picked up from early days as a muscle model) has propelled her to heights that many thought were immpossible from her early WWE days managing the team of T&A (Test and Albert). Now a truly well rounded athlete and wrestler many are starting to ask if Trish is the best female wrestler of all time as she has sucessfully melded her looks and abilities to become one of WWE's best assets. But a match with Mickie seems to come down to psychology too and so Trish is going to have to dig deep to see if she is as mentally tough as she is pyshically.
Not many women's matches at Wrestlemania have gone down well over the years but then again not many fueds have been crafted as well and as peronally so maybe this will be a defining Mania Moment for the Womens Strap. |
