Well, there's plenty of reasons..

Checkered background, break-in last week in which someone left a knife on his bed, his Dad is chief of police..

I mean, usually when a person is going to attempt a robbery, first they'd like it if nobody was home in which case that's quite often around Taylor's house, and also they are not looking to commit murder.
